Forget that you're starting with a a playlist and want to end with a playlist.
All you really want is a list of filenames and the playlist stuff is a red herring.

Edit > Edit Preferences > Tags (2)
Set 'Send to clipboard' tags to <FileName>.

Select your playlist.
Select all files.
Right-click > Send To > Clipboard

Paste the list into Notepad or any other text editor and save as WhateverYouLike.m3u.

Puuuh.....finally we have got it!
A simple and working solution.

Thank you.

I will try it later in my car

Yes, I know I can navigate to the folder with *.mp3 files and play them directly
and
Yes, I know, I am getting a list in a text file with the filenames

But in both cases I did not get the MANUAL sort order from the original playlist in MB
And I want to keep my manual sort order.

So again: I need an export without paths and with sort order

Well ok:

All my ~5000 *.mp3 song files on my hard disk are sorted into various (sub) directories.
Thats perfect for running MusicBee on my Windows System

However occasionally I want to extract/export a sub set of lets say 60 songs into ONE flat temp directory.
together with the corresponding Playlist (with flat, manually ordered playlist).

Afterwards I want to copy this flat directory on an USB flash drive and put it into a USB slot in my car to run the playlist in my media console over there.
Or (second use case) copy it to my smartphone to run it over there in an audioplayer App

Therefore I prefer urgently a super simple solution without directory tree and absolute paths

Having to fiddle around with Notepad++ and regex search & replace is much to complicated.
I cannot imagine that MB does not offer a much simpler solution

At least it should be easy to implement an "export playlist without prepended path" option

Hmm, does that matter?
I simply want to omit paths.

5
ok, it works.
Thank you

Questions / How to export Playlist WITHOUT paths to contained *.mp3 files?
« on: November 24, 2024, 04:09:14 PM »
the folder "Exported Playlists" contains all current *.m3u8 playlists files.
And the *.m3u8 playlist files contain in turn all *.mp3 filenames with the corresponding prepended path.
Thats good as default

However sometimes I want playlist files WITHOUT these prepended paths.

How can I export the current playlist AND omit the paths?
The default setup for export WITH paths should not be touched - if possible.

It works.
Thank you  :)

When I right click on some playlist or in song list and select "Sent To" then sometimes (for some playlists)
the sub menus "Folder (MOVE)" and "Folder (COPY)" are greyed out/disabled.

See this snapshot:

Why?

When I mark all (or a couple of) songs in a Playlist, then right click and select from context menu

Send To---->Folder (Copy)--->Copy Files to Folder

then all marked *.mp3 files are copied BUT WITH leading numbers.

How can I tell MB to NOT prepend these numbers? (including the dash)
The *.mp3 should be copied just with the filename as they are stored in the original folder

Ok, your GUI-based solution works  :)
Thank you

Regarding the virtual tag method:

As I understand users have at first to add an additional column "virtual1" to the playlist view.
Ok, done
And now?
How do I assign your  matching condition from above to this new column?

11
Interesting.

How do you get "and" leftmost in the second row (of your first solution)?

When I open the leftmost drop down there is no "and"

12
Shouldn't it be

Match: ALL

with only ONE of the following lines per run?

13
Thank you. It works :)

@alec.tron:

Thank you. works  :)

When I open a playlist and click slowly two times on a song line (in Artist or Title column) the edit mode is started.
That means I can directly edit the Artist name or the song title.

How can I disable this direct editing (For ALL playlists at once)?

I want to avoid accidentally switch to edit mode
