Questions / Re: Duplicate/Replicate MusicBee Library
« on: April 30, 2021, 06:50:32 PM »
I am on the latest version of MB.
Thanks for that step by step! I definitely missed one or two of these exports/saves. Would love for a master 1-click to save/export/backup everything. And would zip it too! Wouldn’t that be something! :D

I’ll shall try this library clone again one day.

Questions / Duplicate/Replicate MusicBee Library
« on: April 28, 2021, 02:12:36 PM »
Anyone know how to 100% replicate a MusicBee library on a different machine? The current library machine is Win10 and so is the different machine.
I have a backup software on the original library machine that copies the MusicBee Program Files (for skins, plugins, etc), the Local and Roaming folders of MusicBee AppData, the MusicBee Library folder containing playlists and settings, and the actual music media files.
I've had near success in the past (no screenshots until I try again), but all my Virtual Tags and some other settings/views did not import correctly. Did I just miss saving something somewhere? Are there some settings or custom views that will not be saved by MusicBee? Will I have to recreate all Virtual Tags on the new machine? The current library is still intact and 100% functional so I can re-save or copy anything based on advice here. Cheers!

Questions / Re: Comments tag length

I agree with Phred. Just check you have the latest version of MusicBee. I too have many live albums and would be SOOO hosed if a 256 character limit existed in the Comment tag.

Skins / Re: Tundra Series
« on: April 13, 2021, 02:21:44 PM »
Hi there! I really enjoy these skins. Thank you! I've currently been using Tundra--Aurora for over a year. I'm curious if it's possible for me to change the 'No Artist' and 'No Album' images on my PC? I see these are in XMLC and I cannot modify those. Any help or direction you can lend would be much appreciated. Thanks!

MusicBee Wishlist / Expanded Edit: Comment
« on: March 12, 2021, 06:42:49 PM »
Seeing a few dead threads on the same Wishlist item. I wanted to bring it back to life as I'm constantly using WordPad to write out Comments and then pasting into MusicBee. I would love to be able to expand the Comment Editor window, maybe as a floating window, or in its own Tab of the Edit Window. I don't really know if this is a difficult ask nor why it has never been implemented, but I appreciate any time given to the thought of adding this years-long request. Cheers!

As you know, you can edit the <Sort Title> tag without affecting <Title>, but I don't believe it's possible to do the other way around.

If you're deadset using that tag, you could use the Additional Tools & Tagging plugin to batch edit <Sort Title> and <Sort Album>, removing the title and album title, after adjusting <Title>/<Album> with the additional information.

Alternatively, you could create two Virtual Tags as the substitutes you need.

Thank you, yeah, I know it works in the reverse of what I need. I wanted to use the base Track Title and Album Title fields so that it'll display nicely in the car (and other players) to have that extra prefix info right on the main tag fields for the respective playback screen, even if that screen only shows a basic traditional Track, Album, Artist.

Yeah, I think I will have to batch edit by searching within the Title Field and then group editing the Sort Titles. It should go a little faster than adjusting each track individually as I update the Title tag, but still unfortunate I seemingly can't "lockout" the Sort Fields when editing the respective reference field.

Questions / Changing Track and Album Titles Without Affecting Sort Titles?
« on: February 15, 2021, 04:31:18 PM »
Hello, hive mind!

I would like to add prefixes to all of my tracks and albums, without impacting their Sort Title Values. Is this possible? For instance....

Track, original name = Divided Sky, with prefix would be I.IV Divided Sky .... to show that it is the fourth song of the first set, but I want the Sort Title to remain "Divided Sky" sans prefix

Album, original name = 2015-08-22 - Magnaball...., with prefix would be N2 2015-08-22 - Magnaball... to show that is it the second night of Magnaball run, but again, have the Sort Album Title to remain sans prefix.

I know that I can edit the Sort Titles back, after adding the prefix, but then that's double work.... seeing if that is avoidable before diving into this project...?

Thanks all!

Questions / Re: Identifying Albums by Tracks

Or go with the multi-playlists to feed another playlist option.

I just gave this a test run and it works fine. It's not particularly hard to set up. If things get cluttered, you can always stick your feeder playlists in a folder.

Yeah, this seems the easiest way, currently. Thanks!

That seems like a lot to do, manually.
In essence, I'd still have to do all the searching and tagging as if I was just cross-match referencing Track A albums and Track D albums, and manually marking the ones that do indeed have both Tracks A and D.

The crux of the issue is that the Titles are individually searched altogether. I can't tell it to compile a second set of search results, if that makes sense. So, using keywords or occasions or genres, I think every instance of Track A and Track D would have to match each other for one of those fields. But then what if I want Track A and Track C? It all gets very messy and convoluted and probably will impact the grouping of Track A and Track D.

I think the Auto-Playlist needs to be tweaked on the programming in order to do what I want. Or I just need a new field <Album Contents>.
Or go with the multi-playlists to feed another playlist option.

UPDATE: Virtual tags do not seem to be helping. Seemingly MusicBee is still overlapping Track Names, even though the Virtual Tags are separate.

VT11: $Contains(<Title>,"A")
VT14: $Contains(<Title>,"D")

Auto-Playlist: VT11 is T, VT14 is T. Results in an empty Playlist.

Presumably because the Auto-Playlist cannot separate the Rules for independent Title searches, even though the Virtual Tags are discreet.
And if I select, "ANY" of the Rules and not "ALL", naturally it presents all Albums containing Track A OR Track D.

Thank you! That was too simple. Duh.

And Auto-Playlists are integrated with that Filter of "Playlist is (or is not), etc". So the multi-playlist setup could work, just messy.

Maybe I can use Virtual Tags to identify the key Track Titles I'm looking for...
I can set Auto-Playlist, select by Album, apply rules ALL: VT1 Track Name A and VT4 Track Name D.

I would just be limited by number of VTs... testing and pondering.

Questions / Identifying Albums by Tracks
« on: September 24, 2020, 08:46:31 PM »
Hey Hive-Mind,

I am trying to identify Albums, or ideally create Auto-Playlists that contain Albums, based on what tracks they contain. I have a large collection of live tapings, so shows will often have a repeated theme or fan-favorite "hits", so I would love to be able to identify/group Albums based on Track Names.

Examples:
An Auto-Playlist for all Albums containing Track Name A (not just an Auto-Playlist of Track Name A).
An Auto-Playlist for all Albums containing Track Name A and Track Name D (would contain the full Album for all Albums that match the rule).

It doesn't have to be sequential, like Albums containing Track Name A "followed by" Track Name D, but that would be cool to do as well if the above feature is manageable.

If any of this can be done using Custom Tags or Virtual Tags, I am familiar with these tools and would be open to suggestions. Other than committing time to multiple Track Name searches and manually identifying these Albums, I am hitting a brick wall.

Thanks!
