MusicBee Wishlist / Add Custom Preferences for Now Playing Tab
« on: May 12, 2022, 04:51:01 AM »
Hey Steve! I've been using the Now Playing tab more often this year and wanted to share some suggestions for an upcoming release. The Artist's Background artwork sometimes does not exist, and lyrics are only displayed if stored within each tag. It would be awesome to specify the background image source (ie: last.fm / gettyimages) and allow a similar API for lyrics source (Genius). The artists' bios have been fairly accurate but it wouldn't hurt to allow custom sources as well.

This is still the best music client hands-down, so thank you again for all the years of hard work!

Questions / Re: Android 12

Yes, I've had no issues using tee WiFi sync app. I sync to an SD card with two directories: music and playlists. Note that I do not use the two-way sync feature. I only sync from the PC to the phone.
Thanks phred! I unchecked the Reverse playcount option in WiFi Sync app and got the sync to work successfully.  8)

Yes, I was forced to bite the bullet and it wasn't too bad. I was "given" the opportunity to postpone the "upgrade" 15 times. When I had no more postponements available I upgraded and MB didn't choke or do anything unusual. Understand that while I do use the WiFi Sync app, I only sync from the PC to the phone. I even deleted a couple of tracks from the phone for the first test and I experienced no problem.
Were you able to still use Musicbee WiFi Sync on Android 12, Phred? I just upgraded to 12 and that version doesn't allow us to select the root SD Card folder anymore. The error message reads, "To protect your privacy, choose another folder." I'm hoping you have a workaround or patch in the works because Google' Devs don't seem to be too concerned.

Are there any work-arounds available for this?
Steven already mentioned the work-around about three or four replies back: try the android wifi sync app.

Thanks Phred! The Android app syncs 10x times faster than the traditional way.
I appreciate the quick response, and excellent job once again Steven.

I suggest trying out the android wifi-sync as it doesnt suffer the long device pauses when files are deleted

Steven, I've experienced this exact issue using the same device and Android version. The copy will fail on the 1st or 2nd attempt with random exception errors anytime the "Delete File that are not on the auto-sync list from the device" is checked. I've tested this by unchecking the setting, adding new tracks to my playlist, and confirmed the sync completes successfully on the first try.
I removed a track from a playlist, checked the delete setting and the copy fails first try. The sync deletes the tracks successfully but fails on the copy step. Once the tracks are deleted from the device, the sync copies everything without an issue.
Are there any work-arounds available for this? The allotted time it takes to sync to Android is not ideal:

1. 10 - 15 Minutes to load Preview
2. Sync deletes tracks in 5 minutes
3. Copy Fails
4. 10 - 15 Minutes to load Preview again
5. Copy may fail 2nd attempt
6. 10 - 15 Minutes to load Preview
7. Copy is successfully

Questions / Re: Choose Album Artwork Without Impacting Track #1

Copy the image first, then right-click on the track and select Paste Artwork. Choose the embed option to write the artwork to the mp3 file.

Those image thumbnails show up by doing this: Customize Panel > Show Setting > "Enable All Artwork to be selected and displayed". You can edit a single track and click on Artwork to add multiple covers if you want.

Hopefully, the Dev team provides a solution sometime soon 👍
Just for the record, there is no "dev team." MusicBee is developed and maintained by one person, who does this as a hobby in his spare time and asks for nothing in return.

Good to know!

My apologies Phred; I didn't know Steve built and maintains this by himself. ;)

Thanks Boroda, I found it: Set Album art and Track art independent of each other

Hopefully, the Dev team provides a solution sometime soon 👍

Questions / Choose Album Artwork Without Impacting Track #1
« on: November 27, 2019, 04:50:20 PM »
Hi,

I have a quick question about the Album Artwork feature using the Album Covers view.
My goal is to add custom artwork for the album cover while keeping the 1st track with its own artwork. I have tons of albums where the lead single is track #1, so I'd like to still show that artwork as the primary for the single without impacting the overall album cover.

Example:

* Track 1 has embedded artwork A
* The actual Album cover has embedded artwork B

Can someone let me know if this is achievable in version 3.3.7261? So far, I've tried going to Customize Panel > Show Setting > "Enable All Artwork to be selected and displayed". Unfortunately, this does not permanently change the album cover. Also, Enable Image Rotation hasn't helped me.

Thanks again,

..adding screenshot for clarity  ;)

Does anyone know how to solve this without changing your panel layout, unselecting the single album, then changing the panel layout back again?  :-[

Questions / Re: Sort Prioritization by Track# in Album View

Thanks for the quick response! I figured that was the only answer
I'll have to go through my library and update the strays.

Questions / Sort Prioritization by Track# in Album View
« on: July 05, 2019, 04:29:26 PM »
I have a quick question regarding the sort preferences in Album view. There are times when I'll add an unreleased/promo track to an album and said track doesn't have a track#. iTunes would sort songs without a track# at the end of the album, however, MusicBee sorts these at the beginning. Can someone direct me to the appropriate setting to sort songs without a track# at the end please?

Here's a screenshot of what I'm trying to accomplish: Musicbee vs iTunes

Questions / Add Song to Playlist Sort Default to #1 Spot
« on: July 01, 2019, 12:42:28 AM »
I'm still new to the forum, but haven't had any luck finding the Preference setting to add a song to #1 in a Playlist. I keep my playlist sorted in Manual Order and each time a new song is added to the very bottom. For Instance, one playlist has 4,900 songs and I would like the next song I drag & drop into it to be #1 and not #4,901. I do not wish to sort by Date Added since you lost the ability to custom sort.

For now, I'm selecting the newly added songs then jumping up to the 1st slot, ctrl+left click on #1 and dragging everything to top.
Let me know if there's a setting to accomplish this or if one could be developed in a future release to save time.
