General Discussions / Re: 32 bit vs 64 bit

PMFJI, but that applies at all 32 vs 64 bit questions unless the extra memory accessibility is needed. Some programs claim that 64 bit is faster, but I have never seen a difference (if I can only tell by measuring, it is not a significant increase IMHO).

I have heard that 32 bit apps run faster under x64 windows than x86. I read it is something to do with the pagefile being virtual?

You sir/madam are an absolute genius. I really appreciate what you have done for me.

Here's a BIG thanks for another warm and sunny day in London (England natch). The weather has been so good lately, it is proof positive that I am in a parallel universe.

BINGO! That is a sweet work around indeed.

Is there any way to get the new send-to item to the top of the list as it will be used a LOT?

Hi,

Clearing the list is the last thing I want to do. All I want to do, and thanks for pointing me in the direction of the correct "Now Playing" options, is select some tracks from the playing tracks list, without clearing it, and have them play continuously.

Whether those select tracks can be copied to a temporary play list, or have a mini player open with just those tracks playing I am not fussed as to the method of execution.

I really do appreciate all the help offered in the thread so far to this new user. I am learning a lot.

Cheers

I have had a look at the now playing assistant and do not think that will help as it lists all my available tracks.

My playing tracks list evolves over time from many playlists and other tracks that I have. If I kept on saving my playing tracks list I would be swamped in playlists.

More often than you would think, I just want to play, and repeatedly at that, a few songs/tunes from my current playing tracks list. They are chosen as they just happen to mesh together with my mood and their neighbours. Sometimes I will just go down my playing list an queue 20 or so songs on instinct without giving it too much thought.

That is why I would like to be able to repeat play a selection.

Hi Steven,

That is what I have been doing. I have even tried different permutations and none of them make any difference. When the last song in a selection finishes, the next one outside the selection plays. If yoy would like a screencast of what I am doing, I can make one and upload it.

I just discovered the "Queue next" feature and I would like to play all those queued songs to play until I want it to stop. I would be just as happy selecting the files in the same manner, but without using the "Queue next" feature.

Is it possible to play a selection of or highlighted titles in the playing tracks list in repeat or shuffle?

Thanks

MusicBee Wishlist / "Queue next" enhancement request

I have just discovered the "queue next" functionality. It's just what I was looking for. Is there any way to have all of those queued next tracks to play on repeat? Only track repeat works.

Questions / Re: Copying files on playlist to device(i.e. player)

Hi psychoadept,

I was busy this afternoon making a suction device for helping me solder SMDs.

The section on playlist order does not relate to the current version.  Use the List Menu command "Restore Natural Order"
In the Sort By... menu, choose "Playlist Order". There is no "Restore Natural Order" in the list menu (I got there by right-clicking in the playing tracks pane. Similarly, there is no "Playlist Order" in the Sort By...menu (right-clicking the column headers got me there).

It looks like you are on the right track. I'll create a # column in the interim.

Cheers

Hi psychoadept,

Thanks for coming to my rescue again.

I do not know the differences between the playlists that you mentioned. All I did to make the playlist (I did not save anything yet), was to double-click on the first item in the tracks display. That transferred all the items to the playing tracks pane.

Hiya,

Another noob here. I came along here today as I am not having much luck in changing the order of my playlist.

The files were copied en-mass meaning that they were not added in any order as that requires non-simultaneous adding of files.

I have three columns in my playlist, title, filename and time. The playing order was according to the filename. I sorted the list according to the title. MusicBee (MB) still played the list in filename order. Then, I must have done something as the playing order is according to the title sort. I don't know how I did it and have been trying to revert the playing order so I could find the method for doing it on command.

I expected the order to follow that of the sorted column. Not only that, but when I click on the title column, a couple of songs with the same title swap positons in the filename column. The tags seem okay.

It is a brilliant program and I am enjoying it more and more each day.

Questions / Playing Order
« on: June 23, 2018, 12:22:11 PM »
I have three headings in my "Playing Tracks" window. "Title", "Filename" and "Time".

I have about 140 files in my playlist and have been playing them in Filename (A-Z) order. I assumed that as I had sorted the Filename column to be in A>Z order, that was why it was playing in that order. Just for some variation, I sorted the Title column as A>Z. The tracks are still playing in Filename A>Z order so as the Title column is ordered, it looks as if the tracks are being played in random/shuffle mode.

I did find an "update playing order" on right-clicking in the playlist and then clicking on the last item. It did not seem to do anything as there were no dialogue boxes and no way to control how the order would be changed.

I wonder if some kind soul could point me in the right direction.

Of course, as I have been writing this, the play order HAS changed to the Title order. I have no idea how it happened so would still appreciate a pointer or two.

Cheers

Hi phred,

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. The strange thing is that not all titles starting with "the" are affected as some are in the correct position.

Talking of files and sorting, I keep on seeing files named ".<Title>b1" (without the quotes). Could they be coming from MusicBee? I have never seen them before I started using MusicBee. It could be a coincidence.

Cheers
