Questions / Re: Rescan location tag
« on: August 06, 2022, 03:43:28 PM »
Thank you. Just tried it and it's not what I am looking for. Basically, I am looking for a way to rescan the filepath so that MusicBee writes case sensitive location tags.

Currently it is:
"D:\Music\Sido\..."
and it should be
"D:\Music\sido\..."
If there is a way that MusicBee can re-scan the actual filepaths for every file, this would be great.

Never had a problem with case sensitivity until I tried to export some playlists to Plex so that I do not have to turn on my laptop anytime I want to listen to some music..

The location tag is for the file location.

The folder is sido because the artist is sometimes labeled sido and Sido in MP3 stores. The files are copied in the same folder because Windows is case-insensititve.

Having a naming template like <album artist>\<album>\.. should do the job. You can create as much subfolder as you like by adding \

Questions / Rescan location tag
« on: August 02, 2022, 11:21:10 PM »
Is there any way to re-scan the location tag in the file properties in a case sensitive way?

Why do I need this?
I currently installed Plex on my NAS and want to synchronize my MusicBee playlists with Plex. This worked like a charm, however, there are issues with case sensitivity.
Let me describe my problem:
Windows is case-insensitive and stores the artist "Sido" in the same folder as "sido". However, MusicBee seems to save the location tag that it uses to export playlists based on the ID3 tags. So basically, it refers to a folder called "Sido", but the folder is "sido". In Windows, this is no issue; however, Plex is case sensitive and does not find the file stored in the "sido" folder, if the location says "Sido". So I need a way to read the location tags in a case sensitivity way.
Of course, re-tagging all the files would be an option, but maybe there is a more convenient option that will not cost me "hours" of work. Synchronizing the tags and rescanning all files did not work. :(
Of course, I am also happy if you can tell me how I can tell Plex to be case insensitive.

Bug Reports / Some minor playlist issues with MusicBee 3.5.8150
« on: June 19, 2022, 11:21:28 PM »
I have encountered some minor issues using MusicBee 3.5.8150 on Windows 11.

In previous versions, the position in the playlist was saved when I was switching between playlists. So when I was at the bottom of Playlist A, switched to Playlist B, and then went back to Playlist A, I was still at the bottom of Playlist A, which was very convenient for longer playlists.
However, in the newest version, the playlist position does not seem to be saved because if I switch between playlists, I am back at the top of the playlist when I switch from Playlist A (bottom) to Playlist B to Playlist A (back on top, but I want to be at the bottom).

Further, sometimes, when I am searching in auto-playlists, the search term seems to be stuck. So when I search for an artist, then delete the search term, switch to another playlist, and then switch back to the auto-playlist, the search term is still active. This problem can be fixed by re-starting MusicBee.

I hope that the description of the issues is clear. Otherwise, I will be happy to clarify.

Thank you anyways.

I just want to confirm that what you are experiencing is in fact due to Android 12. I first reported this back in August when I was part of the beta: https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=28093.msg193643#msg193643.

The workaround I found was to set up the app in Android 11 before upgrading, but I know that's not an option on the Pixel 6 since it ships with 12. Anyway, my permissions unexpectedly got reset a couple weeks ago, so I'm right back to being locked out of the app like you are. Please star the issue with Google so they might consider giving users an option to grant the necessary access anyway: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/196422354.

Other than that, the only fix would be if someone could modify the app to allow users to select any folder on their phone rather than just the root it currently requires.

Thank you for this information. Looks like all I can do is wait.
Hopefully Google will change this or the WiFi sync app will be updated to allow to select any folder and not just the root folder.

Not exactly. Sorry for being ambiguous yesterday.

If I click on sync now button in WiFi Sync, the app asks for the permission to access the storage. In this dialog, I see all the folders that are saved on the internal storage, so everything is fine.
However, the "use this folder" button is greyed out when I'm on the "root directory" level, according to Android 12, this is due to security reasons.
If I now try to select the "Musik" folder in that the music is stored, the app tells me that this is an invalid folder. The verbatim error message is:

Quote
"Folder "Musik" is not valid.
You must select the SD card root folder and note one of it's subfolder.

As I have already mentioned, the folder "Musik" is stored on the internal storage and the button to select the internal storage root folder is greyed out.
I have tried deleting all the app data and re-installed the app, but the result is still the same.

This is the only option and it's also the name that the Windows file explorer shows. It must be the internal storage because the phone does not have an SD slot.

Here's a screenshot. Thank you for taking a look into this.

For your convenience, I have copied the original post:

I am using a Pixel 6 Pro and want to sync MusicBee to the internal storage.

I have already run a successful wired sync.

If I try to run WiFi sync, the app asks for permission to access the storage. I cannot select the internal storage root folder because Android 12 won't let me, but I also cannot access any other folder because WiFi Sync wants access to an SD card root folder. This is strange, because I selected internal storage and you can' insert an SD card into the phone.

Is there any fix for this issue?
I run Windows 11 on my laptop, but the laptop setup worked with the old phone just yesterday. So it's probably Android 12.

I came to the same conclusion as Kid after trying everything to make Wifi Sync to SD work again. I hope that this issue can be fixed in the next version of the Android app. Cable sync is much slower for me.

I ran the wired sync twice. I still cannot hit the Preview or Sync Buttons in the app, if I want to sync to the SD card.
I have granted the app the necessary access to the SD card, of course.

Interestingly, Wifi Sync works with a Galaxy Tab A, using a SD card.

Another piece of information that may be interesting:
Wifi Sync on the S10 used to work until 1-2 weeks ago. Then, I deleted the profiles of the devices and recreated them, because there were some issues with the device names that I wanted to resolve. However, these deletions also coincided with a firmware update for the S10.

In the last few days, I was unable to start MusicBee Wifi Sync on my Galaxy S10. That's a bit puzzling because Wifi Sync works on my Galaxy Tab without any problems. Are there any known issues with Wifi Sync and the Galaxy S10?

I have already deleted the profile of the Galaxy S10 in my MusicBee settings as well as the appdata on the Galaxy S10 several times. Nothing helped.

Some more information for troubleshooting:
- I want to sync to a micro SD card in the Galaxy S10 (400GB). I have tested syncing the files to the phone storage and this seemed to work. However, this is not an option because I do not have enough storage on the phone.
- When I want to start syncing in the app and hit the sync button, nothing happens. There is no error message or whatsoever; however, the syncing process doesn't start.

Questions / Re: Error Syncing Playlists to Virtual Device
« on: April 14, 2019, 08:24:34 PM »
I have narrowed down the problem:
Looks like the issue is caused by using the "Playlist is" term in the highlighting rules.
Are there any fixes for this issue? Of course except of not using "playlist is" in the highlighting rules.
