Bug Reports / Replay Gain Tags Fault
« on: November 24, 2022, 11:23:23 AM »
If one of the tracks being analysed is the only selected track from a particular album, then MB applies 2x the specified ‘adjust calculated replaygain values’ to its calculated TrackGain if, and only if, you have chosen to write tags for ‘on track basis’ AND 'on Album basis'. In other words, if you calculate the TrackGain values with only ‘on track basis’ selected everything works correctly.

I hope this is useful.

Thanks for your reply, Stephen. In view of your suggestions, I have tried the following:
1. Updated MB to version 3.2.6902 (and then to 3.3 6962) and deleted all my music from the MB library and the computer.
2. Ripped one track with multiple artists.
3. Changed the ‘&’ in the Artist field to a semi-colon and checked that MB had correctly split the Artists.
4. With the Thumbnail Browser in the Left Main Panel and set to ‘Album’ 'Group By >’ ‘Artist’, I clicked on the Artist grouping, ‘George Michael; Mutya Buena’, in the Thumbnail Browser.
5. MB didn’t display the track in the main panel. (It does if I click on the Album thumbnail directly below the Artist group header.)

I tried other CDs, but the result was the same.

I did two other tests:
1. I manually added ‘George Michael; Mutya Buena’ to the splitter (it already contained the split artists). I then clicked on the Artist grouping, ‘George Michael/Mutya Buena’, in the Thumbnail Browser as before, but MB still didn’t display the track in the main panel.

2. I changed the Artist delimiter to a forward slash instead of a semi-colon. MB didn’t automatically split the artists, but did so when I clicked the ‘Split’ button. I manually added ‘George Michael/Mutya Buena’ to the splitter. MB then worked correctly and displayed the track in the main panel when I clicked on the Artist grouping, ‘George Michael/Mutya Buena’, in the Thumbnail Browser.

I would welcome any comments or suggestions. Thanks again.

I have set up MB to use Albums grouped by Artist in the Thumbnail Browser. Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to handle this properly. MB uses the Display Artist for the Grouping and can’t find any tracks when you click on a compound Display Artist (e.g. ‘George Michael; Mutya Buena’).

I think this is because MB tries to match the compound Display Artist to the tracks’ split Artist list and therefore fails to find any matches. If so, the ideal solution would probably be for MB to parse the Thumbnail Browser’s Display Artist name and then search for a match for both (all) the names in the tracks’ split Artist list. A slightly less satisfactory solution would be to include the track’s Display Artist in the search.

Currently, I am using Sort Artist instead of Artist, but this removes MB’s ability to include tracks by compound Artists in the search results for a single Artist, which is the point of the Artist Splitter.

It would be great if Stephen could fix this problem. Thank you, in anticipation.
I am using MusicBee version 3.2.6827.
