THANK YOU for this! Wifi sync randomly broke for me recently, and this method fixed it.

Oh, the error I'm having isn't the Sever Not Found error, it's that the app refuses to read any changes to files made in GMMP. So I can effectively only rate songs on desktop.

All I want is dual metadata sync for my curated song collection. Can't believe it's 2023 and this is still so difficult to have.

Ah, my bad. Really hope someone from MB or with technical knowledge can help you find a fix, because being limited in that way would be a huge bummer.

And same - it is endlessly wild to me that it's so difficult to achieve, and with so few options. I've seriously considered expanding the storage on my old iPod Video and going back to the routine of carrying my phone + iPod everywhere, because trying to find solutions and fixes to this stuff can be maddening.

For anyone who might try to troubleshoot this issue to get the app to work again, I also had this problem. Well, something similar. I was able to delete the extra device, but I did also notice that there was a duplicate device entry that hadn't existed before.

I bet this has something to do with why the app has broken.

So I managed to get the Server Not Found error to cease, but I was trying several different things (desperation lol) so I'm not entirely sure what precisely did the trick.

Can you try resetting network preferences on your device (you'll have to re-add all WiFi and Bluetooth connections after doing this), then force stopping and clearing app cache for MusicBee Wifi Sync, and see if that fixes it?

Sadly, as ome-reily says, this app is (for me too, anyway) broken again.

It worked for a while, but suddenly I'm getting the typical "Server not found error" and cannot sync. Nothing about my WiFi config changed, device, etc. When I plug my device in, however, I noticed that there's suddenly a duplicate entry in Device > Preferences, and all settings within this entry are default. When I attempt to delete this entry while the device is connected I'm told I cannot, because the device is in use, so it's clear my device is now, for whatever reason, recognized as being different in some way. Regardless, when I copy all device settings, run a full wired sync, and attempt to use the wifi sync app again, it still says Server not found. I clear the app data and cache, reboot the device, and try again, but get the same error. I uninstalled the app and ran the installation process again, as described in the original thread, but still Server not found. Error Log shows:

2023-04-04: SM-G998U1:   13;  2.2
21:38:03: locate: search 192.168.1.,
exclude=192.168.1.16
21:38:04: ping: socket ok=/192.168.1.26
21:38:05 ping: hello=MusicBeeWifiSyncServer/1.0
21:38:07: ping: matched=/
192.168.1.26,status=OK

Any ideas? I'm a huge fan of MusicBee but this wifi sync experience has been a nightmare. All I'm really looking to do here is sync playlists and ratings two-way, and every time it seems there's a solution something randomly breaks and I'm back to being unable to sync ratings.

Does anyone else encounter an issue with this that results in two-way sync randomly breaking after a while - giving the typical "Server not found" error?

For me, when this happens and I plug my device in there's a duplicate device that appears in Preferences > Devices, and all the settings are reset to default. If I match these settings to the original and run another wired sync (successful), then attempt to sync wirelessly, the "Server not found" error continues to appear, along with the following Error Log:

2023-05-01: SM-G998U1:   13;   2.2

Here's the modified APK that worked for me, and here's the thread I used to get it working.

Boring, you're a lifesaver.

And regarding iSyncr, they've increased their price yet again, to $14.99 per week, lol. The way they managed to dishonor all premium purchases with the second app listing was bad enough, but that ridiculous pricing really shows that Muma Studios is a pure scum "developer" (in quotes because they don't appear to have ever actually done any development work - just acquisition).

I'm in the exact same boat as you. Did you ever find a solution to your predicament?

Fortunately, yes. I ended up having to create a patched apk of the MusicBee WiFi Sync app (something I had absolutely 0 experience with), and that's been working just fine with GMMP. From what I understand this should also work with PowerAmp, but I haven't tested (yet) so I can't confirm. Got some of the patched info from this post, and it involved editing the official APK with the info in BoringName's second comment in that thread. If you'd like me to share the patched APK I used just let me know (assuming it doesn't violate any forum rules). I still have that file, but unfortunately don't recall where I found all the info required to modify the APK.

Is that patched version still available?

Bit maddening that, while using a fullscreen visualizer, Windows power options (Screen > "When plugged in, turn off after #") override, causing the screen to turn off after # amount of time.

Or has anyone else discovered a fix for this? I'd rather not have to modify Windows power settings every time I want to sit and watch the visualizer for a bit, and while I know something like Caffeine exists, that too requires manual selection, which I'd like to avoid if possible.

Portable Devices / PC/Android two-way sync of Ratings
« on: May 06, 2022, 02:57:13 PM »
Bit of background: For many years I used iTunes as my primary music library, making heavy use of ratings and playlists as a means to organize—specifically with regards to my mobile device, in that my library is much larger than mobile storage allows, so I need to be selective. I have playlists that consist exclusively of tracks I haven't yet listened to, with the goal being to assign every track a rating. If a track is rated 5-stars, then it's assigned to a different playlist, essentially marking it as being "worthy" of being on my device. Songs rated below 5-star are not assigned to a playlist. Virtually all rating assignment takes place on my device, rather than desktop.

During this time I used iSyncr, which allowed me to two-way sync playlists, ratings, and playcounts, in conjunction with the same developers' listening app, Rocket Player (required in order to sync ratings). This accomplished everything I needed, but these apps were recently sold and acquired by a different studio that has decided to introduce intrusive ads and highly excessive monetization. They stopped supporting the original iSyncr app (presumably in an effort to nullify previous premium purchases, which were a one-time $5) and re-released it, charging $29.99/m to sync more than 100 songs. Rocket Player is now littered with ads, and the cost of removing them is another $29.99/m. I will not be paying ~$720 per year just to sync music between my PC and device, and since these devs took over functionality of both apps plummeted anyway, so I jumped ship.

Now, I'm trying to find a way to accomplish this with MusicBee. I've transitioned my library from iTunes to MB and have been playing around with the sync process, but it seems with Android 11+ that two-way sync is no longer possible. I've run a wired sync, followed by a WiFi sync, trying both PowerAmp and GoneMad Music Player, but ratings assigned on mobile will not sync to MB. I thought an alternative process might be to create 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5-star playlists and to then assign tracks to those playlists, rather than use ratings, which are then synced to desktop where I can apply ratings according to the name of the playlist, but I can't seem to get playlists to sync two-way either. Using GMMP and running a WiFi sync, the playlist will be created in MB, but none of the assigned tracks appear in the playlist.

Anyway, I realize not all of these issues are related specifically to MB and might be on the end of PowerAmp or GMMP, but I'm really at a loss here and can't seem to determine whether or not my existing process is viable any longer. Has anyone managed to get something like this working? Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong or something else to try? Thank you very much in advance!

EDIT: Typo

As far as two way syncing goes, it's available -only- with MB's WiFi Sync app from the Play Store -and- only with GoneMad or PowerAmp players.

Is this still true? From what I've been reading, Android 11+ doesn't allow two-way sync with either GMMP or PowerAmp due to something to do with storage permissions.

Visualizers / Re: Milkdrop Visualiser Support
« on: February 09, 2019, 10:47:03 PM »
Just downloaded this, and am encountering a crash every time I navigate away from the Visualizer tab, then return to the Visualizer tab. So, for example, I'll launch Milkdrop from View > Start visualizer, then head back to the Music tab in order to change songs, and if I click the Visualizer tab it crashes, guaranteed. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both MusicBee and Milkdrop, but the results are the same.

I love the visualizer, and all the defaults in MusicBee are laughably terrible, so this is all very disappointing, and if anyone knows of a fix, please let me know.

EDIT: I have no idea as to whether or not this is relevant, but the MusicBee skin I'm using is Dark-Metro DarkORANGE.
