MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Find Radio station Automatically
« on: May 18, 2023, 05:06:20 PM »
Hi Flourgrader,

indeed that would be a nice feature. But to make it work, MB will be relied on have access to a database with all the radio station stream-sources out there. Keep in mind that these sources constantly keep changing due to many reasons.

To constantly keep this database / these stream-sources up to date, some folks need to constantly invest an effort into this.
I'm unsure if such community maintained global all-embracing databases with free public access exist and I also have my doubt they would be even legal.

At least there is a really cool website called ... http://radio.garden/ ;)

(Streaming) Radio stations also need to monetize their services. Surprise: People need an income!
Therefore many stations offer their streams via platforms like https://www.shoutcast.com/ e.g.

What I want to say is, it might be somehow more complicated than it seems to be.

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Better Visualization Implementation
« on: May 18, 2023, 04:01:53 PM »
Hi kingal73 - welcome to the forum!

I'm on your side.
For me I can say, I found a visualizer that has the power to replace almost all good but mostly ancient visualizers out there - it's the famous versatile MilkDrop app.

Just recently the user "milkdrop2077" released an updated branch of MilkDrop in version 3.0:
  https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=39084.0
  https://github.com/milkdrop2077/MilkDrop3

This version works standalone, but accessing the MB-API to get the waveform data.
A standalone visualizer may have disadvantages (e.g. no MB GUI integration) but imho the advantages are outwight:
- can be running in parallel to an MB integrated visualizer (like "Classic Spectrum Analyser")
- can be used with other media-players as well - especially when talking about MilkDrop v3 from milkdrop2077
- possibly makes MB or the visualizer itself running more stable, because of these are separate applications

All what's need to make you smile now is a huge collection of MilkDrop preset-scripts.
They can be found on several places, like:
  https://getmusicbee.com/addons/visualizer/452/missing-milkdrop-presets/
  https://sourceforge.net/projects/mdpresetpack/
  https://thefulldomeblog.com/2020/02/21/nestdrop-presets-collection-cream-of-the-crop/
... and on a lot others too, spread over the web.
Believe me, once you have a collection of 50'000 presets or so, you will smile for sure :)

There is also a professional implementation of MilkDrop called Nest-Drop, optimized for Live-Events:
  https://nestimmersion.ca/nestdrop.php
  https://nestimmersion.ca/

I hope this answer can give everyone a light in the dark of visualizer support requests.

Visualizers / Re: MilkDrop 3.0 + 500 presets
« on: April 26, 2023, 08:43:40 AM »
I'm impressed a lot - Thank You very much milkdrop2077 for creating & sharing this :) !

This seems to be exactly what all fans of Milkdrop was waiting for! An update of the famous but ancient Milkdrop back- & front-end.

Besides a ton of other features we get ...
- high framerate support (60, 90, 120 fps)
- multiple monitor stretching
- double-preset support
- preset auto hard-cut options

The current version of Mildrop-3 is available as a standalone-application.
This allows to use it in parallel to an MB integrated visualizer, e.g, "Classic Spectrum Analyzer".

Hello Steven,

thanks for your reply and already have a look into that.
Also thanks for your recommendation using an older version of the bass.dll. That's what im doing already and as far I can say - there is no noticeable glitch up to now. I just hope that MB is not relied on a newer version of bass.dll very soon.

Regarding this statement here ...
Quote
DirectSound output mix is now generated by BASS (as with WASAPI output and  on other platforms), losing support for DirectSound-specific features but  gaining support for all other BASS features
... obviously it doesn't make sense at all to bother un4seen with that issue.

Anyway, thanks and greetings.

Hey Sveakul,

thanks for the hint contacting Creative. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure this company is care a sh.. about on these things, especially if they marketing "new and much better ;)" stuff nowadays.

It''s not like that CMSS-3D isn't working anymore at all. On some point just the support was going lost. The question now should be; Was this by intention or accidentally, and what can be done either on MusicBee-side or on bass.dll/un4seen-side.

Greetings

Hello,

recently a nightly version of MB was released together with an updated version of the un4seen bass.dll in version 2.4.17.0.
This bass.dll version and some earlier ones will breake the x-fi CMSS-3D functionality, at least with the DirectSound-API.

Why DirectSound?

Well, x-fi CMSS-3D is only working perfect with the DirectSound-API and and allowing shared mode with that.
CMSS-3D doesn't work with WASAPI at all.
CMSS-3D work with (Creative) ASIO, but only in exclusive mode! This constantly interferes with any additional application outputting sound.

I'm using a quad active speaker setup together with an X-Fi sound-card with enabled CMSS-3D in the Stereo-Xpand mode. This configuration sounds truly amazing to me and I just can recommend it to everyone else too.

That i was investigating so far:
bass.dll 2.4.14.0 is the last good know version for CMSS-3D with DirectSound-API
bass.dll 2.4.16.10 : no CMSS-3D with DirectSound-API
bass.dll 2.4.17.0 : no CMSS-3D with DirectSound-API

Some related liks from the un4seen-forum:

WASAPI, DirectX and 3D audio
https://www.un4seen.com/forum/?topic=18095.0

Changes beta-version bass.dll
https://www.un4seen.com/forum/?topic=19874.0

This very likely isn't any bug related to MusicBee, but maybe bass.dll 2.4.16 and above provides a new way to initialize the plugin, or something like that.

I already was aware of that bass.dll 2.4.17.0 will breake CMSS-3D, because i already tried this version earlier. But since bass.dll 2.4.17.0 will start to become distributed with MB more official now, I would like to use this as an opportunity to point on that issue, and hopefully to cause an review on that.

I know this is a truly special case here.
For now, I just assume that there are still a meaningful number of audiophile peoples out there, with one of the widely distributed X-Fi cards, that have recognized the please of CMSS-3D and still want using it :)

Thanks in advance.

p.s. Depending on the reply on that issue here, I also will consider to contact un4seen and inform them about this issue.

MB v. 3.5.8432
bass.dll v. 2.4.14.0

+1    Hello everyone.

I'm running MB v.3.5.8150 and it looks to me nothing has changed regarding the folder level view.

I made 2 mockups (2nd + 3rd picture) to visualize the difference between the current (1st picture ) unnatural and a natural layout:

I constantly stumble about this thing since a while now.
It would truly be a benefit to see this implemented.

Thank You in advance.

Portable Devices / Re: Playlist Sync not working with Sony Walkman
« on: May 15, 2022, 01:05:58 PM »
Hi everybody.

The solution is ... the playlist storage settings must be:
    Path: "Music\"  (not case sensitive)
    Format: "M3U"
    Relative Path: NO

... and was found here ...
    https://ameblo.jp/ameameameba-30/entry-12683627715.html

Obviously the device scanner only discovers audio files if they are included in any playlist-file. But the playlist-files need to be stored under "Music\" to make them visible for the device internal media-scanner.

It works perfect for my Sony WALKMAN NWZ-E380 Series device.

MusicBee API / Re: Project M Visulizer?
« on: April 15, 2022, 11:00:29 PM »
Thanks Sveakul,

I've tried both versions of BASS_SFX.dll v2.4.2.3, via WASAPI and DirectSound - no success.
MB just instantly crashes when the visualizer become started.

Maybe anyone else can test the plugin and report if it is working, and if so, what is the environment:
- MB version
- version of bass-plugins (BASS_SFX.dll)
- Audio output (Direct Sound/ WASAPI Exclusive/ WASAPI Shared, ASIO)
- Windows Version
- graphic driver version

Greetings.

I made projectM for MusicBee: https://getmusicbee.com/addons/visualizer/360/projectm/

Hi Raul,

thank You for uploading the visualizer plugins.

so far I've tried ...
- G-force
- Geis (4.x)
- Geis 2
- ProjectM

Unfortunately all of the tested visualizers lead to instant crashes of MB on my side!
Could you please provide some advice what we just should check/update?

Thank You in advance.

I made projectM for MusicBee: https://getmusicbee.com/addons/visualizer/360/projectm/

Hi Raul,

thank You for uploading the ProjectM visualizer plugin.
Unfortunately I'm unable to make it work - immediate crash of MB is the result. No matter if run in embedded or full-screen mode.
Could you please provide any support to make it run?
Did you have any suggestions what I just should check?

So far I've tried to replace the BASS_SFX.dll with version 2.4.2.1 from here: http://www.un4seen.com/forum/?topic=9488 ,
but that didn't changed anything from the above described behavior.

Thank You in advance.

Hello, I've just recognized that there seems to be a problem with private SEND-messages: They can't be displayed at all. (at least for me).

That's what I get when clicking on "Send Items":

Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator.

Can anyone have a look please?
