This probably needs some scripting, if it's even possible at all.

I would like to have a playlist of say 50 albums that I have added in the last 12 months.
Then these albums should be sorted by the average play count of the tracks.

Is this possible within musicbee?

I mean, filtering my albums added in the last 12 months is easy enough.
But then, how do I grab the 50 albums with the highest average play count and order them accordingly?

in your settings file 'drill down in a separate panel' is ticked, so double clicking will not play the tracks and instead open a new panel

Do you know where that setting is? In any 'customize panel' I try, it has 'directly under the selected album' selected instead of drilldown.

If the settings file indeed says something different then what I selected, then I assume it fails to save that setting?  :)

edit:

3.5 fixed the issue indeed, it now shows the setting that is consistent with what you say is in the settings file.

Here you go:

I don't see an attachment option on the forum, so I'll share it using OneDrive:

Let me know if you'd prefer a different sharing method. :)

I did enable and then disable 'show "click to play" button when mouse is over a picture', and kinda assume this is the cause. So it may well be a bug?

I have 'directly under the selected album or artist' checked, and this works perfectly if I single click the album.

MusicBee Wishlist / Improvements to Artist view
« on: August 10, 2022, 04:21:23 PM »
There is a number of improvements I'd like to see to the artist view:

* The most important improvement to me personally is instead of listing the albums in a single long line that needs a scroll, show the albums in a grid. Right now the albums 'on page 2' (ie requires a scroll) are a lot less likely to receive a random play than the ones showing 'on page 1'. Showing the albums in a grid instead would fix this, as well as give the view a much clearer overview.

* Allow a tag bellow the artist name when expanded? I have a custom tag on all my albums indicating the country where the artist/band originates from. I would love it if I could show this here.

* Group the albums in the expanded window by tag. I would love to have the albums grouped by Studio Album/Best Of/EP

* Allow a 3rd line below each album, I'd like to show the album rating here.

Here's an example of how it would look like (it's still missing the album rating though)

Previously when I double clicked an album in this mode, it queued the album last as intended.

Now it just opens a new window with just this album. Worse, double clicking that album opens yet another window with the album displayed in a different style. (at which point double clicking finally queues it)

In the Preferences -> Now Playing -> action when double click is still set at Queue Last.
What other setting do I need to change to get the old back?  :(

Questions / Questions about update
« on: November 27, 2020, 12:23:58 PM »
I recently updated from 3.2.something to the latest version, 3.4.something.

While reading through the changes, I had two questions:

Can somebody share a picture showing what is meant by this?:
Quote
album covers and artist views can now be configured to show album tracks in a separate panel.

Where do I set nested tags?
Quote
new tag hierarchy panel that allows you to create your own nested hierarchy based on tags (most people would use genres)
I already have Genre and Genre Category via the old fields, but if possible I'd like to this further.

MusicBee Wishlist / Subgrouping for group by Album Artist
« on: June 06, 2020, 05:11:47 PM »
I requested something similar a couple of years ago in the 'Album types' topic. But I guess it's a little bit different and lost in the other discussion.

*I'm using the artist/group by album artist view. I wish I could group my albums in this view by type (studio/live/compilation/lp) like this:

don't mind the repetition, it just to quickly show what I had in mind. They should all be different albums.

*Also, I'd prefer it if a row is full it shows the overflowing albums on a new row instead of having to scroll to it.

Or is it possible to code a view like this myself?

MusicBee Wishlist / 2 rows of tabs
« on: March 19, 2019, 04:55:48 PM »
Hey, I was thinking it could be useful if we could have 2 rows of tabs.

I break down my library in main genres like Rock/Pop/Jazz/...
If I have 2 rows of tabs I can use one row for the genres only and the other for the music explorer/inbox/...

I think that would make my library look a bit cleaner and faster to use.

Questions / Playlist of most played albums
« on: November 29, 2018, 09:54:47 PM »
Hey,

I'd like to have a playlist that selects the most played albums for me, so I can easily drag them to my phone.

I assume adding all the play counts of the album tracks together in a virtual tag is the way to go, but I have no idea where to start with this..?

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Scrolling albums row
« on: June 20, 2018, 09:45:54 AM »
It only works if the main window doesn't have a scroll bar.

Anyway, I'd much rather have the albums wrap around onto a second row of albums.
The way it is right now I'm very unlikely to listen to albums that don't fit in the screen.
+ it would be a click less.

+1 I'd like to have multiple rows. :)

(assuming you're talking about this:)

Questions / Sort albums by year in artist view
« on: April 02, 2018, 11:34:01 AM »
Hey,

My old laptop crashed a week ago, and I'm now trying to rebuild my library the way it was.

I used a standard view, 'Artists'.
But I can't find how I sort the albums by year.
The 'sort by' in the menu disappears with this view..

Can anyone help?
