Bug Reports / Re: Several Bugs Noticed
« on: August 14, 2016, 07:46:04 PM »
For #3, this may possibly work.

I currently have a keyboard without any media keys. I use SharpKeys program to map my keyboard keys. Ex. I have Page Down as play/pause, Home as previous track, and End as next track. I'm not sure if it has support for multiple keys at a time or just one.

Other notes: The mapping is done in the registry, so any changes require a reboot/log out/in (can't remember which). It may not be the ideal situation, but may get the job done.

Bug Reports / Report Website related bugs/issues here

When in "Rip CD" Popup, clicking on "Settings" button without lame.exe will pop up message:

Quote
MP3 encoding requires LAME.EXE which cannot be distributed with MusicBee due to license restrictions. However you can download LAME for personal use - see http://www.getmusicbee.com/help.html

This URL does not work. I believe the correct URL should be: http://getmusicbee.com/help/faq/

While the help URL text can be changed in future releases, I would recommend adding a redirect on the website so that older versions of the software are pointed to the correct location.

Side Note: I love the new website design!

Thanks Steven, it was a permission issue. I'm running MusicBee with my local administrator account, and it apparently didn't have access to the settings file by default.

Although the administrators group has full control, it wasn't working so I added full control for my local account and now everything is as expected.

I really appreciate the response.

More information on the issue, it's now happening on the 3.0.6044 release as well. Seems as though the first time Music Bee starts, I'm able to save changes. However, when I close by going to File>Exit and reopen a few seconds later, make changes and repeat, no changes are saved.

Once I re-run the installer, I am able to make changes that first time I open the program.

If it helps, I upgraded from release 2.5.5804.26036, not sure if my settings file may be broken from that.

Questions / Re: How to get artist pictures in the side bar
« on: July 20, 2016, 04:40:02 AM »
Is there any way to get rotating artist images?

When upgrading to the latest patch (19-July-2016), none of my settings are being saved. Window configuration and playback settings were 2 areas in specific that were not working after multiple tries. Reinstalled from the download page and settings are being saved again. Reinstalled patch and settings would not save.

I am now on 3.0.6044 without issues. Let me know if there is any diagnostic information that can be of help to solve this issue.

EDIT: I didn't read the instructions. Here's my settings file (.bak extension was added by me): http://www.mediafire.com/download/goslwsm4ix8lx6k/MusicBee3Settings.ini.bak

Skins / Re: Black and Green Theme [BETA]
« on: November 22, 2011, 04:03:14 PM »
Thanks for the replies. I will take another look at the buttons. I tried to convert them from another theme, but I think I had anti-aliasing turned on. I might have also saved them as the wrong format in photoshop, because the Base64 code I have is huge.

Also, this is what my menu looks like. The blue highlight makes any green text very hard to read. I'm trying to use: <element id="Menu.DropDown.Highlight" bg="20,20,20" />, but even changing that value red doesn't seem to have any effect.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll update the theme later today.

Skins / Black and Green Theme [BETA]
« on: November 22, 2011, 02:44:31 AM »
I'm really not sure how a theme can be in beta, but this one sure is. I was looking around at the themes, and I couldn't find one that I really liked. A lot of reading and about 6 hours later, this is what I've came up with. This is the very first theme I have ever made, and I have only tested it on my current window setup.

One question though for any other theme creators out there. Is there a way to customize the highlight color of the menus (File, Edit, etc.) on mouseover? All my menus appear to have a blue highlight (except for the items that are disabled).

If anyone has any problems with other window configurations, I'll do my best to try and fix it.

Screenshot:

Please excuse my poor organization. I'm working on that project now that I have a better looking interface.

Download Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?vna3hxa21tfq8oa

To install:
1. Download the file and copy it to C:\Program Files (x86)\MusicBee\Skins\ (Any subfolder will work, or just the root)
2. In MusicBee go to View>Skins>(Path) Path will be the location to the theme that you saved in step 1.

Skins / Re: Skinning Guide - Part 2 - The Elements: Image Elements
« on: November 22, 2011, 01:22:41 AM »
I think the dimensions are a little off. Here's what I used:

       FormBorderTop --------------------------------------------- 28x1 [pixels].
       FormBorderTopRight , FormBorderTopLeft ------------ 28x5.
       FormBorderRight , FormBorderLeft  --------------------- 4x1. <Switched
       FormBorderBottomRight , FormBorderBottomLeft ---- 4x4.
       FormBorderBottom  ---------------------------------------- 1x4. <Switched

After spending about 2 hours I finally got my left right and bottom borders working!

Hi,

I just started using MusicBee a couple of days ago. I'm trying to find a great program that is able to help re-name files, and manage duplicate files. Currently, my library is about 65,000 songs, but growing from new songs, and shrinking as I manually remove duplicates. So far, I am very impressed with the overall look of the player, and how it plays files. The details pane that automatically gets album art and lyrics is a huge reason that I want to continue to use this program over alternatives.

My first program is with the auto-tag feature. I have tried this on a handful of single tracks and have gotten very strange results. Quite a few of the tracks were unable to be found, and others have returned results without a title, and "Electric Hippies" for the artist and album name. I might be using this feature incorrectly, but a few small tweaks could make it a lot easier. The first would simply be to revert the changes. The 2nd would be to get a list of close matches if one wasn't certain. This would allow the user to select the best match.

Another feature that could be improved is the duplicate manager. I am used to managing duplicates manually, but some 3rd party programs have told me I have as many as 20,000 duplicates. I am very particular with the handling. I like the interface, but it NEEDS the ability to select custom columns. I use the bitrate to select the best track, but I also use some other pieces of information.

Another problem I'm having is "File X may be corrupted". I can verify that the ID3 tags are correct using multiple other programs, as well as the details pane in Windows Explorer. This only occurs for a relativity small number of songs (around 500), but it's too many for me to go back and type in all the information. In some cases, if updated by an external program, the song will update it's self, but this is rare. A feature to rescan the tags of a single song, or selected songs would be great. Also, the ability to sort by errors would be nice. I don't want to have to scroll through my whole list with the chance of missing one.

I will hopefully also be able to use this program to manage the physical location of my music. I want to make sure that all the tags are correct (or at least some tag present) to prevent errors with file management. I will post again if I am able to get my library in a good enough shape to organize the physical files.
