Questions / export list of artist - albums possible?
« on: December 12, 2023, 11:16:21 AM »
Hello folks,
I've been trying to find a way to export my library from MB to a text file with the format
artist - album

I can't find a way to export my library of albums as a text file... is it possible, how?
Thanks,
Mark.
PS1, in case of trolls, I did search this forum first for answers and read the help files about exporting.
PS2 I don't/will not use itunes

Hello peeps,
I used to use MusicBee some years ago, but had stopped using a desktop player, now I am doing it more again and got annoyed with VLC's lousy interface... so I did a search for "best music player for windows 10" and tried out a whole bunch... so here is what I said about that review -

The experience of using MusicBee is by far the best. I have just tried them all, I was always using VLC as it is so fast and flexible, but the interface is very poor on VLC and so I went looking... Of all these, Music Bee has the most tactile, info rich music listening interface. By default you see all your album artists to the left and huge cover art and track list to the right. Click on an artist and you see the albums by that artist, double click on one of those and playback of that album begins. Then at the top of the player if you click on Now Playing, you get a TREAT! Album Art, Fan Art, Biography, Lyrics (add on) all there for you to see and enjoy instantly. I LOVE THAT!!! There is a lot more to this programme, but for the simple act of "Listening-To-Music" nothing else comes close to give you a rich listening experience. Kodi does a great job but it is a much slower to open, clunky to get to your music as it is a "does everything" media centre. Dopamine is very good but the fact it shows artists instead of album artists is a no go for me.. way too much clutter! For playing my Flac files, MusicBee is the bee's knees.

So thank you devs, great job.

MusicBee Wishlist / Theatre Mode - fonts too small for Home Theatre
« on: March 20, 2013, 09:49:29 PM »
Hello guys,

I have been fiddling with the lovely new (for me) theatre mode, the skins and customisation...

It seems all of the skins have fonts that are way too small to read on a typical 10-12 foot away from the screen situation. They are great when viewed on a desktop system, but step back 12 feet and you'd have to be 20-20 sighted to read stuff.

XBMC font sizes are fine for me... but it seems the font resizing algorithm is way too restrictive.

"fonts are scaled in proportion to the scaling applied to the album cover, but wont go below 7.5pt"

Im a total beginner when it comes to xml, so know one can make a skin that is for a 42 inch screen viewed from 12 or 15 feet, but I dont have that ability. It seems the problem wouldnt be there is the scaling was in proportion to the screen size. If i can easily read the Theatre Mode when sitting 3 feet from my 17 inch monitor, that would be about the same size screen as 12 feet away from my 42 incher... IMO the font size should be the same size in relation to the screen it is viewed on... almost as though you were watching titles on a movie which are married to the image size.

Anyhoo, its a lovely enhancement, maybe someone will make a HTPC one with bigger fonts.

Cheers
Mark.

There are instructions here: http://musicbee.wikia.com/wiki/Theater_Mode

i did notice that there dont seem to be any theatre mode views which have artist bios from LastFM... only lyrics...
AHA, you click on the artists name and get a bio... NICE!!!
cheers

INSTALL

Extract in the TheaterMode.Embeded folder.

Install the "Novecento Wide Book" fonts (included in the zip file)

Hi Greb,

The view you created looks very good.
I found a similarly named folder that works... I could not find a TheatreMode.Embeded folder... I hope that is ok.
C:\Program Files (x86)\MusicBee\Plugins\TheaterMode.List

TheaterMode / Re: Instructions to install customised "Theater Views"
« on: January 10, 2013, 12:03:20 PM »
Hi guys

Long time since i was here, and am very pleased to see the Theatre View!

Oddly, this thread does not seem to provide Instructions to install customised "Theatre Views".

I have followed both links, and neither give instructions. Perhaps I am a bit blind here... but I cant see the instructions.

EDIT,
I found somewhere else, that the path to extract each custom Theatre View to is
C:\Program Files (x86)\MusicBee\Plugins\TheaterMode.List
And it does not work to extract the folder containing the custom view, but one must extract the contents of the folder, xml files and the SharedArtwork folder to that path.
Thanks,
Mark.

Wait a minute... All this time I was talking about the browser that comes with musicbee, using a third party browser defeats the purpose of having everything conveniently integrated. Surely drag and dropping would benefit more if supported by the in-built browser

Yes, I was initially, but you mentioned album art exchange, which I did not know could be viewed internally... sorry for the confusion.

Just as a matter of interest, Chrome cannot drag and drop to the Edit Album art window, Firefox Can!!!

But yes, that is what I would like too, and ability to drag and drop or copy and paste from the internal viewer directly to the Missing Album Art placeholder... quick and easy.... but does not work because drag and drop does not work and there is no contextural menu to copy an image in AllMusic internal viewer.

Hi
Actually I just tried with Album ARt exchange and if you RH mouse click on an image on their page and Copy Image (i am using chrome) then go to the Missing Album Art window and Paste.
It works!

I see that drag and dropping does not work from any external website it seems... not just AAExchange...
So use the copy image method!

Hi Steven,

OK tx, that works well too, though not for the internal AllMusic, which has no RH mouse contextural menu... (which is the one I would be using mostly ;)

Tx for the headsup though.

hi
if you are playing a track, press Shift-Enter or RH mouse click and choose Edit.
you can drag and drop the internal or external images from a website or folder directly to the album art field.

works very well, i would just like to eliminate the step of going to the edit window when the Missing Album Art is already displayed... keenly awaiting a drag and drop ;)

Hi,

It would be great to be able to simply drag and drop from a web page, Allmusic or Wikipedia or... directly to the Missing album art placeholder, and have the artwork be saved to Tags automatically.

EDIT- I see it works when you are in EDIT mode... would be nice to not have to go there, just drag and drop to Missing Album Art placeholder on main screen.

Thanks,
Mark.

Skins / Re: 'Honeycomb' Skin
« on: November 16, 2011, 07:18:57 PM »
Hi there Blinghound,

I am using and enjoying your skin, thanks...

I was trying to add a folder to the library and could not with success, because apparently there is a little box which has to be ticked before you say OK to add a folder to the library... well that little box is invisible using Honeycomb.

I am now adding a huge folder to my library, so when it is done I will do a screen grab for you, but it is definitely not visible (certainly to me, on my computer ;)

Thanks,
Mark.
