MusicBee Wishlist / Behaviour when new playlist is created
« on: September 15, 2018, 08:24:53 PM »
So upon searching I found this thread https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=10270.msg142867 , but I'm not sure if things have changed since then.

I was going to comment about wanting the Add to Playlist selection in right click menu, to show the New Playlist option at the top of the list of playlists... but upon playing with that, after this new 3.26827 update, I found that instead of, when creating a new playlist, the playlist name being selected so you can type the name you'd like, it just calls it Playlist, so I have to take the time to select it myself and type a name.

A minor issue, I'm sure, just more clicks and I don't see why it was changed.
Probably not a bug, but I thought I'd mention it, just in case.

Yup, library plays fine, just the playlists aren't pointing. I included a picture of the "error" when trying to play a file from a playlist.
Also MusicBee_Setup_3_1_6336 is the correct file isn't it? I don't need to run the one before it in that thread, do I?

D:\Dropbox\Apps\MusicBee\MusicBee.exe
D:\Dropbox\Apps\MusicBee\Library\MusicBeeLibrary.mbl
D:\Dropbox\Apps\MusicBee\Library\Playlists\Bad Seed Rising.m3u
..\Music\Bad Seed Rising\606 - Ep\1-01 Eat Your Heart Out.m4a

Also, I use .m3u playlists instead of .mbp and I'm using portable MusicBee if that makes a difference.
My music is organized by MusicBee at D:\Dropbox\Apps\MusicBee\Library\Music
Relative paths for playlists isn't checked in the settings.

MusicBee.zip hosted on Dropbox

so your library files are ok, just not in the playlists?
I find this all very surprising as I cant recall anything around playlist read/write that has changed between v3.0 and v3.1 and a lot of people have already updated without issue.
Could you send me a zip of the following files:
- MusicBee3Settings.ini (help/support/view settings)
- MusicBeeLibrarySettings.ini (in the root music\musicbee folder)
- MusicBeeLibrary.mbl
- one of the playlists (.mbp)

and the file paths for the following:
- the full path of MusicBee.exe
- the full path of MusicBeeLibrary.mbl
- the full path of the playlist
- the full path of one of the files referenced by the playlist

I did a bunch of testing last night. Wasn't sure how to fix the issue, so started from scratch with MusicBee, then after setting everything up, I took a backup and used the patcher for the new version. It made my playlists not point correctly. So I started swapping out changed files from my backup, and MusicBee exe made the difference. With the new one, they're broken, with the old one, they work.

So after installing version 3.1.6336, my playlist files are damaged and no longer point to my music. But as far as I can tell, they haven't changed since 3.0.6335. I'm not sure why this is happening. All I can say for sure is the issue is in the MusicBee.exe

I've come here looking for this option as well. I'm guessing it isn't going to happen though?

Plugins / Re: Video Support
« on: March 02, 2012, 08:43:43 PM »
- MusicBee will support playback of video files directly in MusicBee
(known issue: the last 0.5 second of a video file is not displayed)
- but playback can be configured to use an external application such as VLC in the player preferences
- if you do use an external application, you can only launch a file and no further integation with MusicBee

If I use an external application to launch video files, MusicBee can still act as a database/organizer, right?
Also, acting as a database, can it grab from a network share? For example, \\Bob-PC\Users\Bob\Videos

Edit: Hehe, tested it for myself and it seems to work nicely. :) Thanks Steven!

I'm really surprised they already aren't saved when they are adjusted. Is this a bug maybe?

Can you make the columns remember where they were placed? I move the Title to the left of the Artist, but when I open the assistant back up, it has reverted to the default.

MusicBee Wishlist / Now Playing Search
« on: October 19, 2011, 07:55:20 PM »
Can you make it so it works like the quick find that appears when you start typing in the Now Playing Tab I have shown at the bottom of my screen? What I mean is, when you type in the NP tab, each time you push enter, it shows you another result.  But if I search from the bar in the NP playlist, it only shows me the first result. This makes it hard to search NP from there.

MusicBee Wishlist / Device sync

Actually, for the sync and for when just dragging files over, can you make it so in the status bar, we can see how many more songs we have until it's finished copying them all?
