Questions / Re: Export playlist to USB / function for playlist track #

The reason is fairly simple - there are many devices, such as car USB ports that don't recognize playlists. The only way to get them to play a list of files in a given order is to arrange the files alphabetically. Having the track # in the playlist is the way I can see of achieving that. Any other idea ?

Questions / Export playlist to USB / function for playlist track #
« on: October 15, 2014, 10:54:17 PM »
Hi guys,

I am trying to figure out how to send a playlist to a folder, respecting the playlist order by appending the track order at the beginning of the file name.  I was thinking of using something like the Sort() function or something like that but could not figure it out.

Thanks for your help

Manuel

MusicBee Wishlist / Preview track
« on: June 27, 2013, 04:23:32 PM »
Hello,

Here's the idea... When you're putting a playlist together, especially if it's live, it's great to be able to hear what you're picking before you add them to the queue. Typically what I do is open MusicBee as the main player and then open another player (VLC) to preview, and set different sound devices on each (external soundcard vs headphone output).

How about having a "Primary sound device" and a "Preview sound device" as preferences, and have the option to enter a preview lenght (10sec). Then, as you're playing music, you can right click on any track, hit Preview, and you hear a 10 sec part of the song (kind of like the play button in the Amazon store) via the preview sound device. That will tell you if that was the track you were looking for or not.

That, or any other way of sending tracks to 2 sound devices would be a sweet addition to MusicBee.

MusicBee Wishlist / Find song in playlist
« on: January 23, 2013, 06:18:47 AM »
Hello,

Wondering if anyone had a way to find to which playlists a given song belongs. I usually hear a song and figure I want to play similar songs. What I do is do a search in Windows Explorer and find the playlists, and then pick one which has that song, but it'd be pretty neat if MusicBee allowed one to see which playlist a song belongs to, for instance via a right click...

Peace !

Hi,
In my music library I have a bunch of international music where certain characters got replaced by stuff like "’" for '. Is there a way to do a global search and replace (across all fields) ?
Thanks !

MusicBee Wishlist / Send Now Playing song to Playlist
« on: March 08, 2012, 01:53:22 AM »
Hi,

I was thinking it'd be very nice to be able to send the now playing song to a playlist without having to maximize the MusicBee interface and drag the song around. Almost like song ratings, be able via a right click to send the song to an existing (or new) playlist.

Think that'd be feasible ?

-- EDIT: I see that a good way around it is to be in compact mode, select the song, right click, send to, playlist. However, I noticed that if you are trying to multi-select, each assignation happens as you click, so if a song already belongs to a playlist and you still click on it it brings out the prompt of whether to add the duplicate song in the playlist. Also, but this might be too much to ask, it would be awesome to see a check box on the playlist the song already belongs to...

Also, if you send to a new playlist, instead of asking for a playlist name it creates a Playlist (x) entry... it'd be nice to be able to specify the name there and then. Finally, and really finally, if we could use the mouse wheel to scroll down on the list of playlists instead of having to click on the bottom arrow.........

MusicBee Wishlist / Genre multi-select
« on: September 06, 2011, 01:39:43 AM »
Hi,

Ok so to start with, I don't think there's another viable competitor to MusicBee at the moment, I really appreciate the interface, regular updates and all.

There's one thing that I'd love to have, and that is an efficient way of managing genres.

What I was envisioning is something sort of like this :
- All genres can be listed in a pop-up window. If you add a genre into another in that pop-up window it will merge the two genres and update all songs with the first genre to the new genre. If you right click on a genre you can edit it and again all corresponding songs are updated. If the edited genre matches one that already exists in the list then it corresponds to a merge operation.
- You can drag a genre and drop it into a song in the main music library. If the song you are dragging it to belongs to a selection of songs (multiple songs are highlighted) then all of those songs get the genre added.
- If the main window has songs selected, the genres corresponding to any of those songs are highlighted. One can then right-click on a new genre and add it to those (or drag it to the selection), or remove the genre from all songs in the list.

This is a feature I'd really be keen to have as genre navigation is what I end up using the most when browsing my library, but I find it really hard to have that clean and tidy. I have reasonable Dot Net programming skills and as I mentioned I'd be willing to help if you consider this to be an interesting feature to add to MusicBee.

Cheers !

Manuel
