I update every now and then, now up to 48,534 tracks using 942.8GB of memory (mostly FLACs).

General Discussions / Re: Why isn't this project open source?

I realize now that I'm being a bit pushy on this question,
A bit?

If I was the developer, I might have answered your question after the first post and I might not. Given that I'd be incredibly busy it might have taken me a few days to get round to it.

However, if I was that developer, I certainly wouldn't bother to answer it after you ask over and over again, that would just annoy me.

Questions / New Laptop - Import settings?
« on: September 12, 2020, 05:49:01 PM »
Just got a new laptop, downloaded the newest version of MusicBee, installed no problem. All my music is on an external drive so setting the library up was easy as well.

I've also managed to  get it back to my custom sorting etc.

However, I customised quite a lot in my MusicBee, is there a way of exporting settings from MB on my old laptop and then importing them on my new one to save having to redo everything manually (which I can do but it's just time consuming)?

Beyond MusicBee / Re: YOUTUBE PLAYLIST SHARING
« on: April 21, 2020, 11:16:32 PM »
I did this one a few years ago, unfortunately some have been restricted for copyright violations since I made it, and some may have regional blocks.

I may try and refill the gaps later.

For the non-British on here, Top Of The Pops was the mainstream chart show on the BBC from the 60s right through to some time in the 2000s. However, they would showcase bands of any genre as long as they got high enough in the charts. Most performances were mimed.

This playlist was every appearance by a punk band on the show, but some are now missing.

Hilarious to see bands like The Exploited miming away with a bunch of kids that had no idea what was going on making up the audience...

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Deleting Tracks
« on: January 03, 2020, 02:18:56 PM »
that should already be the case for your hard-disk drive - i just tried and it deleted to the recycle bin for me.
However if you are using an external USB HDD, i'm not sure. I know with my USB stick, even deleting with windows explorer, the file does not appear in the recycle bin

Just to confirm, my music as all stored on an external USB drive and anything I delete from inside MB goes to the recycle bin here.

Maybe it depends on a Windows setting?

TheaterMode / Re: BIG Radientz 3

Like it, but again, no volume control.

What does everyone have against volume controls all of a sudden?  :'(

TheaterMode / Re: Super Combo Theater Mode

Furthermore, there would be no need for the onscreen "Player Controls" as those functions can be provided by the Android Remote Plugin...

Not everyone uses the Android remote plugin. I use theatre mode mainly to show a second screen while  I'm using the laptop for other things. The onscreen controls are very useful to me because it means I don't need to close the window I'm working on to use them (nor pick up my phone and open an app).

I like this TM, but I'd like to see a volume control added to it.

Questions / Re: Remove embedded (or linked) cover artwork from files
« on: September 21, 2019, 08:10:20 AM »

Probably just me, but:-
I still use embedded, then the Album Art can go anywhere the music file goes, and unlike years ago, taking up disk space is no longer an issue.

It's not just you, I still use emebedded as well. Much more convenient if you later want to move or share files.

In this day and age, storage, as you say, isn't really an issue. I have just over 40,000 music files taking up just under 8.5 Gb of storage, a mixture of FLAC and MP3 mostly, all with artwork embedded. Given that they sit on an 8TB external drive which also contains all my pictures, documents and movies, storage really isn't an issue.

Bug Reports / Settings tab in tag edits
« on: September 16, 2019, 02:09:23 PM »
Right click on track, edit, then the settings tab is the bit I'm talking about.

I use a couple of things on here, firstly the equaliser preset and secondly the "exclude from playback".

I have my music on a large external drive, which also has all my movies, documents etc on it. When I travel I take a smaller 2TB drive that just has all my music files backed up on it and use the relink music files to just change the drive name. When I get home, I relink again to the default drive.

However, I've noticed that in doing this all the data in the settings tab has gone, meaning that the "auto-select by genre" function in the euqliser no longer works except for files tagged with one of the specific genre's in there.

Is this a bug or is it by design? Do you know of a workaround, I have nearly 40,000 music files so I don't want to have to keep putting it back manually.

I'm up to 35,160 now, 808GB, 89days 19hours and 39 minutes according to MB.

39,288, 826GB 98 days 9 hours and 53 minutes now...

...and I've just bought a new load of vinyl that needs ripping.

That's not it's only problem. It is, by default, set to "correct" tags from the Internet, and turning it off doesn't work. Many of these "corrections" are actually wrong. While I was still using it, I went to Miscrosoft's own help site and loads of people were reporting the same problem and none of the solutions put forward my Microsoft staff worked.

It also routinely messes up capitalisation, and changes it back to what it wants if you try to change it manually. Useless piece of software.

It's not only tags it has problems with. My old laptop suddenly stopped working unless in safe mode. Basically on startup it froze after being on for about 5 minutes. I decided to to a full reinstall of windows so started manually backing up files so I could. Two of my music files were corrupted. When I researched the issue, WMP re-indexes music files on startup (whether you want it to or not) and it was hanging on the corrupted files. Once I'd deleted those two files the laptop worked fine again.

Hi I'm guessing Steven hasn't seen your latest post. He says he is working on this plugin here. The new version may help.
