Questions / Re: All Music Disappeared
« on: October 28, 2018, 12:18:04 AM »
The usual reason the library gets corrupted is when powering off the computer while MB is still saving.
The next v3.3 update will apply additional validation to detect when the database is corrupted and hence automatically revert to the last backup.

My apartment appears to have had a power glitch last night, so that may have affected things. Thanks for putting in the new validation (and for all your other work).

Thanks. I tried it, but it was, indeed, too late. Ah, well.

I rescanned the library, and it all came back. Unfortunately, that means that the Added Date for all the tracks is now today, rather than the actual dates, going back to 2011.

Questions / All Music Disappeared
« on: October 27, 2018, 09:17:05 AM »
As of this morning, with nothing having changed since it was working last night, MusicBee appears not to be seeing the music in my music folder. I have everything (close to 1 TB) in H:\Media\Music .The files appear in Explorer and play in VLC. But MusicBee doesn't see them. It claims that the Library is empty.

I'm running 3.2.6827 under Windows 10.

Any clues?

Questions / Re: Junk appearing in folders
« on: August 22, 2018, 09:28:35 AM »
Looking at the Temp folder, yep, many of the files match those there, and I suspect that files in it are created and destroyed so much that it just is what was in it at the time.

But does anyone have any idea how they're getting sucked into the music folders? From what I can tell, it doesn't happen right when the albums are added or created but a little while later, and it doesn't happen for albums that have been there longer.

I'm completely baffled as to how this might be happening, but it happens to most (not all) of the albums that I add.

Questions / Junk appearing in folders
« on: August 21, 2018, 04:03:36 PM »
I'm finding a lot of junk files in my MusicBee folders. Many of the folders contain files that I converted from FLAC to MP3 with the "Convert Format" tool, but not, I think, all of them.

Here's a listing (via Window's Ubuntu bash shell) of what's in the folder for one album. The items beginning with "d" are folders. From what I can tell, only the mp3 files and the cover.jpg should be there.  Any clues?

I feel like I'm missing something that should be obvious here, but... how do I get this to appear? Having just installed 3.2.6651, I don't see an item for it in the Layout items in Preferences.

Questions / Playing only the track that I select
« on: March 24, 2018, 10:30:31 AM »
When I double-click a track to play it, MusicBee adds not only that track but every track after it on the album to the "Playing Tracks" list. I almost never want that. Is there a way to change this behavior?

Questions / File not found at expected location
« on: January 20, 2018, 12:37:30 PM »
I recently moved my music collection to another drive and used "Remap Music Folders" to tell MusicBee about it. The music plays properly. When I try to edit a track, however, after I press OK, I'm told "File not found at expected location" followed by the file name. The "Modified Date" field shows that the track updated, but it doesn't reflect the changes that I made. I've confirmed that the files are at the location that the edit window's Properties > Location" expects to find them.

Any clues?

Tips and Tricks / Re: How to use the sub-grouping header

This is sweet! Thank you. It may provide a fix for many of my classical music frustrations, as well as for the Grateful Dead album.

If you right-click on the A_Z jumpbar, you'll get the dropdown menu with the Customise Panel... option

Ah, OK. I see that that works if I right-click to the left of the letters. If I right-click on them or to the right of them, all I get is "Enable multi-character searches".

If you right-click the header menu, then Customise Panel..,  the "Views Configuration" window will open.
Unless your using 3.2 (as wobbly was) than the last posted image will look slightly different to what you will see.
But all the options are still there, just slightly re-arranged.
I guess I'm not understanding where the header menu, using 3.1.6512, would be. Here's a screenshot of my setup, via imgur.

Or at least it should be there. I've inserted the image tag correctly, but it doesn't appear to be showing. So I'll try it via ImageShack.

I'm probably missing something or have forgotten it, but how do I set the "Set Subtitle" tag? It doesn't show up in any tab of the Edit window that I've seen. Similarly, I don't see the "View Configuration" window shown here. An earlier message says to right-click the header menu, but I guess I'm not understanding where that would be either, since that item doesn't come up when I right-click anywhere that I've tried.
