folder.jpg is not marked as hidden or write only. I have re-written properties on all files in my music directory just in case to make sure this is not the case.

I updated to the latest version of MB a few days ago. Patch Release of Nov 24th.

I have ran MB with admin rights.

I still need to manually delete folder.jpg for MB to write a new image. The images in the tags for each music file will be written and updated as expected but the folder.jpg will not be modified or replaced.

I guess it's not a big deal since I really don't have many files that need to be corrected. It's mostly just when adding new music to my library. But would still be nice to figure out what is happening if possible.

I use those settings. (and changed/reset those settings) The problem is that it won't overwrite an existing folder.jpg image. If I use those settings above it will always write the image to the music file but the folder.jpg remains unchanged. If i go to the folder in explorer and delete the folder.jpg image. Then search for artwork again and save then it will  create the new folder.jpg image.

I have MB set to embed artwork in file and save as folder.jpg. When I select an album and select "search internet for picture", then select the image i want and save... it will embed the new image to the files but won't replace the folder.jpg. If i delete the image from the folder then it will save it.

I appologize if it's been answered before or if I'm missing something.. I've been searching, changing settings, ran as administrator... etc.. can't figure it out.

Just to revitalize something I'd still like to see. A panel with check boxes with tags in multi tag fields would work slick. This is one thing I miss from mediamonkey. A tagged panel for things like genre, mood, occasion. Select one song or multiple... de-select a tag already in file and it gets removed, select another and it gets added.

If I understand your need correctly then in addition to entering the barcode you are also wanting to automatically populate musicbee with details about your album. The current best practice, possibly the only complete solution, is to tag your music files from online databases like MB will do. Simply use one of the tagging features to locate your album in an online database and let it tag your files and download the artwork for you. I use Musicbrainz Picard for initial scanning and tagging. After that I use MB for everything else. You can get lots more information for tagging this way than any cataloging software. I'm on my phone right now so I can't really post instructions and links very easily. But MusicBee has everything you would need for your purposes. If you're just use to cataloging/collector software then tagging will be a little different for you to learn but it's easy and will do better for you.

My songs were tagged with picard and has added the performer tags.
In MB, the artist column browser on the left, when I select "artist".. it shows the performer tags as artsts in the column. So for example it shows...

Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey (Lead Vocal)
Lana Del Rey (Background Vocal)
Lana Del Rey (Spoken Vocal)
Lana Del Rey (effects)

Is there a way to have MB only display the artist tags when I select "artist"

MB crashes every time I
....try to open the tag editor on videos.
...try to add "video kind" as a column display field to the panel.
...Use my toolbar shortcut to jump to the tag inspector for a video.

I don't know if it's expected to work in this beta version or not but...

Manage duplicates doesn't work
advanced tagging plugin doesn't work

Also, on one of my views I have many columns and use the scroll bar to be able to see them all (not fit all to panel) occasionally the scroll bar disapears so I can't view all the columns. I have to "set displayed fields" and add change it or select "keep columns sized to panel" for the scrol bar to re-appear.

Solved it. Can't explain it but just some sort of confusion with the tags. Wasn't happening with all files tagged like this. But if I split the artist field into separate tags (media monkey combined artist into a single tag with the separator) then it fixed it.

I just wanted to get the successful results posted real fast before you wasted any time on this problem... now I'll tell you a couple things I noticed and a question...

If I use the "add drive mapping" option so there are more than 4 mapping lines. The "proceed" and "close" buttons disappear off the screen.

in the rules settings it is possible to set a "on drive" setting. No two rules can use the same drive setting here. So even though my karaoke files are on the same drive I just changed it to something else and it still works. i don't understand the relevance of this. Is this going to mess something up somewhere else since I set it to drive "E:\" even though my karaoke is on drive "F:\"?

You got me thinking and I tried something... I removed my exception rule to naming the music files. and added a completely different drive mapping for karaoke with the same naming rules and I can now send all the files to the library.

Yes. I changed a couple different things so can't say what would correlate.

both music and karaoke were managed by separate MB 2.5 libraries.
MB 3.0 had just the music.
I updated to the latest 3.0 patch, copied/pasted my organization rules from 2.5 to 3.0 and scanned in the karaoke folder.
This is when I noticed the problem.

The only difference in my MB 2.5 and 3.0 setup is that in 2.5 I used separate reorganize entry for karaoke and music files. In 3.0 i am trying it with the same entry, just an exception line as you can see in the pictures.

I'll try to get all that for you in a little bit. I did some experimenting and found that all the problem files contain one of the following characters in one of the following tags.

Characters= *:?
Tags= artist, title, album

example.. one file had the artist "B*witched" I changed it to "Bwitched" and i was able to transfer it to the library. But it won'tlet me rename it. So it seems like its not replacing the illegal characters.
