Portable Devices / Re: Wifi android device synching
« on: November 05, 2020, 02:44:03 PM »
Hi everyone,

I'm posting this here just in case, but my situation is such an edge case that I don't really expect a solution.

I'm using my android phone as a wifi hotspot, and my computer running the latest portable version of MB (3.4.7586 P) is connected to said hotspot. I'm also using the beta version (2.1) of MusicBee Wifi Sync.

My problem: after going through the wired sync, the android app can't locate the MB server. Looking at the error log, it seems the app is scanning the 0.0.0.XX IP range instead of 192.168.XX.XX, where my computer IP is located. If I use another phone as my wifi hotspot, and connect both my computer and my android phone as regular wifi clients, I can get the wifi sync to work as expected, so I don't think the problem comes from the firewall or Windows.

The reason why I'm still trying despite failing miserably each and every time is that I remember getting the wifi sync working once or twice despite the hotspot, but it happened several months ago and didn't last.

Anybody got an idea on how to solve this, or a way to manually input/override the computer IP in the android app?

MiniLyrics is indeed back in business and hot.
Each LRC is download within 2 or 3 seconds of playing track start!
Wouldn't it be cool if every track in the MB library could play just the first 5 seconds of each track (for example overnight), thus only taking 11 hours to trawl through my tracks?
Even better if each downloaded LRC contents could be auto-embedded into the Lyrics tag of the relevant track.  :D

You should take a look at this: Track previewer addon

i just did it again:
select a track with no lyrics (rule for my autoplaylist is "Lyrics? has no value", and highlighting is "Lyrics? is null", but it's the same thing),
in the right panel where there is "no lyrics found", right click and "mark as having no lyrics"
right click on the track and "send to>file rescan"
and the track is back to the autoplaylist and the highlighting. works every time

I had reported a similar issue before.

For now I am ticking "mark as having no lyrics" option for those tracks to prevent MB from looking for lyrics. The problem is for some reason it doesn't always stick to tracks. Often the mark mysteriously disappears, but I haven't yet figured out how that can happen.

The culprit is most likely "Lyrics?" field. For some unknown reason the field resets by itself for some tracks. Yet no idea what triggers this.

about that, i noticed the tracks marked as having no lyrics reset when the files are rescanned

for the wording, maybe others can chip in. For me, your proposal doesnt make clear what stacking does. The wording used to be "overlayed" instead of "stacked". I think the word overlay is less ambiguous but some felt people wouldnt know what it meant

As I said, the problem arises from "top of each other" part which could give a wrong impression of vertical placing of each element (no ticks for this and it's not "stacked"). Whatever "stack" means, I think the difference here is just how to select another stacked element, either by tab or by selector button.

Maybe something like "ticked elements are displayed as a list by clicking a selector button"

when the "playing tracks" panel (right sidebar for me) is empty, it is not possible to drag and drop tracks.
its working fine for me, except for when using Album and Tracks layout which throws an error. Is that what you mean?

actually, i don't even have an error, i just can't drop the tracks, there's the little symbol telling me i can't do that (looks like Ø)
and yes, i use the "album and tracks" layout in the sidebar

with 3.0.5866

when the "playing tracks" panel (right sidebar for me) is empty, it is not possible to drag and drop tracks.

also, the hotkey "General: Locate selected track in library" select the right track, but the view displayed is the first album of the artist, the selected track is out of the screen

here, i selected a song from the third album, but the view is focused on the first album.
i use "album and tracks" display, sorted by abum artist/year/album
(and a good improvement could be to locate the playing track if no track is currently selected)

Thanks.

Plugins / Re: Last.fm Stats

for musicbee 3 only
i have made a change so the Last.fm stats is now accessed from the Services node in the lest navigator and shows in the entire main panel
http://www.mediafire.com/download/mvb48tr92ed1vc6/mb_LastFmStatsPlugin%28for_MB_V3%29.zip

you will need the very latest MB3 version:
http://musicbee.niblseed.com/V3_0/MusicBee3_Patched.zip

Thanks a lot for doing that with the two Last.fm plugins.

Hi, any chance to see this addon added as a node in "services" category rather than a tab in the now playing bar? it would be probably more easy to use, especially with 50 or 100 elements displayed.

Also, when drag&dropping files from the windows exporer to musicbee inbox, the artwork column is not accepted as dropping area, it need to be a text column (like artist or album). Can it be changed?
thats fixed for the next update

Sorry to keep raising this issue, but I still cannot drop files in the artwork column of the inbox. Thanks.

At least, I found the advanced tagging tool to get rid of them afterward. Is there any chance of Steven making something for this in v3, or should I look on picard side?

I just found out that there is already a preconfigured tag for it. Look for 'Original Year' in Tags (1)/custom tags, no need to define a new one.

While I'm here, does anyone know how to avoid uppercase incompatibility between tags in picard and musicbee? I have a few ones with TXXX/mytag and musicbee saves them as TXXX/MYTAG. So when I resend them to picard, tags are rewritten and mytag has 2 or 3 times the same value (subject was mentionned here: http://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=12274.0, but I cannot seem to find a solution on both picard or musicbee side).
