Questions / [Solved] Overwrite files on Move Files to Organized Folder
« on: January 21, 2019, 07:24:42 PM »
Hey MB forum,

i'm finally attempting to completely get my extremely messy DJ library sorted once and for all.

Since i have thousands of thousands of copies of the same file, referenced in dozens of playlist files, i want to use the 'Move Files to Organized Folder' method for songs in my library since MusicBee will keep the libraries' playlists fixed when moving files with this method.

However since i have a lot of duplicates of the exact same songs MB won't let me move a majority of those files because they already exist at their destination (an almost-default
Code
<Album Artist>\<Album>\<Track#> <Artist> - <Title>
scheme).
Since i've already moved all versions of songs once already (i.e. all files that i actually need for the playlists are already sorted) i simply need to get all the references in the playlists adjusted for that.
The easiest way would be to simply force moving all the songs into the Organized Folder, overwriting existing files (since i know all of them are the same files) because it would also update the playlists.

Any ideas on how i can achieve this?

sinusstudios aka. waffeln

Hey MB forum,

i have a bunch of playlists imported into my library, and the files they reference were outside the lib and contained a lot of duplicates, due to different playlists having the same song and then a folder with all the playlists song for each playlist.

Now i've attempted to move all those songs into a sorted folder (my library) using the "Move to Organized Folder" method so the links in the playlists won't be broken, but it won't let me move about 2/3rds of the songs because they are all duplicates.

How can i force the path change or overwrite the files in my sorted folder?

Visualizers / Re: Getting started with developing visualizers
« on: April 09, 2017, 08:54:25 PM »
One of the reasons i'm going to study programming at university soon is because i want to be able to contribute / continue open source software like VSXU. I've played around with it and got some nice results, too bad the software has critical bugs, incredibly bad documentation aside from some stream recordings and overall-unpolishedness and alpha-stage-behaviour.
The node system though as itself is super intuitive and could switch things up for home and professional / live visualization.

Just look at this sample: https://youtu.be/DuByV6bvyHc

I'm positive that if VSXU was 'famous' there would be implementation for MusicBee.

Questions / Re: Volume Adjustment always used unintentionally
« on: December 15, 2016, 02:01:59 PM »
1. Create a virtual field with the following formula:

<Relative Volume Adjustment>

2. Add the field to the main panel column and sort by the field.

3. Select all files having a value in that field.

4. Open tag editor with those files selected, go to settings tab, tick "volume adjustment" with slider to none, and hit save.

Thanks a lot! This fixed my problem =)
Exactly 154.656 files, i'm surprised it only took like 10 minutes to complete.

@everyone I'm sorry! I didn't actually know that there was a difference between replay gain and volume adjustment because i don't use those at all ^^'

After testing i can confirm it's the volume adjustment that's breaking my playback.
For some reason it got set to +100% at some point for the majority of my library as it can be seen here:

My replay gain setting is already set to off under Controls -> Replay Gain Off

I've tried the restore original volume option, but i'd have to tick all tracks manually (they're unchecked for some reason when i select all and open up the restore volume menu) which is simply impossible with a large library.

The only viable option seems to use the Remove Tags function that @hiccup mentioned.
There are only two issues left:

- the Remove tag menu loads indefinitely when trying to remove tags from missing tracks

Because i move around music a lot, files start to become missing in MusicBee, but i don't want to remove them from my library because they are part of playlists that i fix using ListFix() regulary. I'm not sure if i'll be good when fix all playlists, remove all missing tracks from the library and then do the tag stuff as i don't really know how MusicBee handles track removal from the library and such.

- most of the times no rvad or rva2 tags show up in the Remove tags menu

I've tried this on numerous 'broken' but not missing mp3's across my library and only rarely the option to remove those types of tags show up. I've analyzed the files by tag codec and what not but couldn't find any pattern or logic behind it.

Screenshot of the Remove Tags menu:

In the normal tag editor it looks the same as in the previous screenshot above; the volume adjustment is on maximum.

So far thanks to all the tipps and advice, i really hope i'll be able to fix this.
By the way the reason i'm not using any replay gain tags and / or volume adjustment is because MusicBee is only my music management solution while i DJ with VirtualDJ which in my opinion works great with MusicBee when you set MB to use M3U playlists which you can easily use in VDJ. It will simply figure out the best gain by itself, so i never worry about it.

Questions / Volume Adjustment always used unintentionally
« on: December 13, 2016, 08:34:30 PM »
Hello forum,
i have an issue with MusicBee 3.0.6132 (latest) where no matter what i set for
dynamically normalize volume of streams and normalize volume of tracks with replay gain tracks
MusicBee will always use the replay tag gain, no matter what settings or any combination.
I'm only using normal Windows Audio, no external device.
It's a hard issue for me because for some reason, most of my 200.000 song library got it's replay gain tags set to +100% (maybe some bug in an old build, i have no clue) so every second song or more is distorted and too loud.
I simply want MusicBee to completely ignore the replay gain tags as i don't need them at all.
[No, i'm not using any equalizer, or windows stuff, i've tested it multiple times and it's definitely the replay gain tags.]

I'm thankful for any tipps or theorys what to try out, but as i don't know the reason for the wrong replay tag values, i'd like to avoid having to set all 200.000+ replay tags (would take hours as well).

Regards, Daniel =)

Questions / Re: Seperate options for each library?

You can choose both options. Multiple librarys would probably be better if you clearly want to seperate everything.

I kind of have the same situation. When i DJ i don't want any songs i only listen to myself getting in the way so these are in a different folder.
You can create multiple 'Sub-Librarys' like this in different folders and create Library filters for each one using "Path contains [folder name here]"
Be careful so give the folders unique names or make sure you filter by a more explicit path (e.g. "librarys\lib1" instead of "lib1") which prevents accidentially messing the library up by having same-named folders somewhere else in the MusicBee Library.
If you can name your case with paths and so on i can help you choose the best filters to seperate everything clearly.

I am a DJ as a hobby and have been looking for a proper music library management software for quite some time.
Starting out with Winamp i tried MediaMonkey and various others, all missing my requirements for a decent tool with enough tag editing power.
MusicBee is now my choice for over a year and a half and especially since v3 there is close to nothing i am missing,
so thank you very, very much Steven for developing a helpful and reliable tool like this for the public. =)

Questions / Customize quality tag presets
« on: July 05, 2016, 03:29:56 PM »
Hi, i'd like to know if it's possible to change the default presets for the quality tag (Tags 2 page) as i generally use this field to store the source of a sound file (e.g. Download, CD Rip, FLAC Conversion...) to be able to track qualitys of sound files better and to get a better quality sound file later on when i can't get it at the moment.
At the moment i always type all that info out myself every time but i could speed up a lot of my workflow if i could edit the offered presets "High", "Medium", "Poor" etc.
I haven't found any file nor setting that could allow me to do this, and it might be impossible. Maybe a language file tweak could help?

Questions / Re: How do tabs work..?
« on: July 05, 2016, 03:16:57 PM »
Okay thanks for the info so far. The only thing left is something like a more detailed computer explorer.
If i can remember correctly v3 has an 'extended' computer explorer similar to the Playlist Manager for Playlists.
I might be wrong though. Again thanks for the responses =)

Questions / How do tabs work..?
« on: July 05, 2016, 07:41:15 AM »
I've been using MusicBee for a long time now but i have settled with only using the library/playlist/computer explorer sidebar as my main workspace as it is the only thing i really need to manage my library and listen to music. But since i know that MusicBee has a lot more to offer with various tabs and views i thought i'd give them a run, but...
I don't know how. When i open a new tab, it's empty and the only thing i see is the right currently playing sidebar and the auto-hide left sidebar.
This probably sounds very stupid but i've been searching online and inside MusicBee for a solution to this or a menu for half an hour now with no results... ^^'
Any help is appreciated, it's probably incredibly easy but i just don't see it.
Here is a screenshot of a new tab in case it is due to my current layout: http://prntscr.com/boyc7w
