Here is a way to reliably do it, upon further attempts:

1) Playlist has 1036 tracks, restored from a backup to the Music\MusicBee\Playlists.

2) I have 2 docked tabs in "Pin Tab [Icon and Text]" and "Navigation Lock > Full Lock" mode, one for Artists and one for Tracks.

3) Open MusicBee with the playlist not in view (only the 2 docked tabs are in view).

4) Right click playlist > List > Update Play Order.

5) The playlist opens in a new tab, completely empty and the file size is 0 bytes.

Bug Reports / [SOLVED] [3.1.6466] Playlist occasionally clears itself
« on: October 18, 2017, 08:34:52 PM »
I use one playlist in MusicBee for my favourite tracks. Once in a while I'll add some tracks to it, usually via drag-and-drop.

The problem is, no matter what I do, once in a when trying to access the playlist I see it's completely empty. This happens every month or two on average. I THINK it started post v3.0, but I am unsure...

I usually notice this after right clicking the playlist => "List" => "Update Play Order" when the list is unfocused (i.e. if I do this while in the main Artists view). I suspect it's either this specific procedure or something that happens on startup which clears the list.

I have tried both the MBP and M3U file formats and this happens on both, but it's not common enough to track when/why unfortunately. If there's more information I can provide I'll try my best.

Portable Devices / Device Settings > Playlist Path resets when empty
« on: July 03, 2015, 04:02:56 PM »
Hello everyone, this is my first post on the forum so hopefully I'm not doing anything out of order. If I am please let me know.

I've been using MusicBee as a music player as well as a file synchroniser for my FiiO X5 DAP. The X5 has two MicroSD card slots and they appear as (G:) and (H:) respectively on my machine.

In the synchronisation settings for these cards, I always want the "playlist path" line to point to the main directory of these drives (since that is the only way for the X5 to read them currently).
Browsing to the main directory and choosing it as the path leaves the field empty, and it does work as intended. However, leaving the field empty will reset it to "Playlists\" after restarting MusicBee which creates a new folder for them and renders the playlists unplayable on the X5.

I've experimented a bit and the solution is to input "G:\" or "H:\" (or any relevant drive letter) in this field. This delivers the results I want, however was not intuitive at first. I think using the browser for playlist path and choosing the main drive should input the drive letter instead of leaving the field empty, it is probably an easy fix and will surely help others with a similar situation in the future.

EDIT: please move to the Portable Devices forum, I did not see it at first!
