Here is my typed text from the exact screen shotof two of the errors in MB after the tag-from-filename function was performed on about 200 files:

TITLE                                           FILENAME                                                                   ARTIST
Where Have All the Flowers Gone     Where Have All the Flowers Gone - Kingston Trio.mp3       Lennon Sisters
Where Have All the Flowers Gone     Where Have All the Flowers Gone - Lennon Sisters.mp3     Kingston Trio

I just don't know why this forum can't upload pics on its own. In any case, it appears Google is up to its longtime habit of blocking everyone from everything. The link provided by MB for uploading pictures was blocked by some non-removeable ad.

Thanks for the info. In this case, I think the info I supplied is sufficient, so I'll not post a pic ... for now.

Bug Reports / Infer and Update Tags from Filename - ERRORS
« on: February 25, 2016, 10:47:13 PM »
I'm still loving MB!!
Here is an apparent bug: I use the <Title> - <Artist> format for all my MP3s (2000+). I occasionally run the "Infer and Update Tags from Filename" function on groups of my collection, so as to keep the Titles, Artists and Filenames of all files the same. See included screen shots, but what MB is doing is switching the artists around between two or more files WHEN THE SONG TITLES ARE EXACTLY THE SAME.

I discovered this the hard way after accidentally noticing two of my MP3s with this name "Where Have All the Flowers Gone" had the artists crossed after I ran the aforementioned function on a couple hundred of my files at one shot. See pic. Very weird. I manually corrected this error. But then I thought I'd better check through the hundreds of others I processed, and I found over 50 total titles having had artists switched on exact title matches. Many hours later, I think I have found them all and manually corrected them.

This all seems very unexplainable to me and I figure it has to be a bug. I'm in no hurry now, since I think I fixed all the errors. I hope this can be investigated and fixed.

RELATED to this is a suggested program modification: When I have a song title with a hyphen (-) in it, as "Loco-Motion", this same MB function changed the title to "Loco" and the artist as "Motion - Little Eva". WHen I used Media Monkey, I didn't have this problem because that program requires that the separator between Title and Artist be a hypen with spaces before and after. In that way, a title with a hyphen remains intact. Can this be fixed? If you want me to, I'll list this part under suggestions in the forum, rather than here. THANKS FOR ANY HELP along these lines! :)

OOPS! I see after the preview that you are no longer allowing the posting of an image. So I can't demonstrate exactly what I am talking about with a pic. I hope you can understand without a pic.

Questions / Re: Can't seem to remove Album Art....
« on: February 13, 2016, 04:07:19 PM »
I did try that before I remembered my Goldwave batch processor/editor, but in MB it did not work. I tried it several times with just a few files - some with artwork, some without. It never removed any artwork. Only the file by file method would work.

Anyway, I am happy I remembered Goldwave. Thanks.

I use Goldwave to edit my mp3s - and I forgot about its batch processing. Dump as many files as you wish into its batch processor - choose "Information" and check the box that says "Remove all text and pictures". WORKS GREAT!!

I'm trying to do this too. Over 3000 tracks. I am going to try it in Media Monkey and if that doesn't work I am going search Google for a generic app that will do it in bulk. If I find anything, I'll report it here.

Thanks for clarifying that. I'll just ride with the newer analyses.

Thanks for the info on the other thread. I'll check it out.

PSYCHADEPT - I had just finished editing and re-analyzing a couple hundred MP3s. I had noticed some seemingly random changes to the volume analysis on files I had not edited. So it left me unsure about what was going on. So I figured it wouldn't hurt to re-analyze my entire library again. That's when I found that a large percentage of my entire library had the replayGain Volume setting changed - and I'm talking fairly major changes. I was shocked. After spot checking a few with playback, I found the tracks were all screwed up. This was a HORROR to me after all I put in to editing so many tracks. I really have liked MusicBee, but if something this drastic happens, I may have to go back to MediaMonkey or find another option.

I spend a LOT of time playing around (editing) details of my music library (file names, tags consistency, etc.) but one I am most concerned about is Track Volume.

First, I never use analysis by Album - always by track. I edit MP3s in Goldwave and try to keep my entire library between -2 and -5 and the "Adjust replayGain values" is always at 0 dB. After spending MANY days and many, many hours fine tuning my 2000+ MP3 library, I let MusicBee analyze the entire library again (by track, not album). IT CHANGED probably 75% of the replayGain values!!

Can someone tell me why this would happen? And does MusicBee actually CHANGE a track or just change the replayGain tag?

Sorry - I'm a little frustrated and confused. Any help?

Thanks!

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Ctrl-Alt V (Analyze Volume)

Well, I like the program and have donated so I am going to keep using it, but programmers are just being stubborn on this simple issue for no reason. Am I the only MusicBee user who actually EVER edits MP3 files occasionally? I use Goldwave. I just don't get half of these responses. It is such an incredibly simple, obvious thing. :-\

But if I have only one file selected and I open the analyze volume dialog - what reason would I have to open the dialog other than to scan whatever I have selected??? It makes NO sense not to have my selected file pre-ticked. What other reason would a person have to open the Analyze Volume dialog??

It is such a simple thing, so why not just make it so even a single file selected is pre-ticked in the check box?

Can you tell me any other reason a person would open that dialog?
