Questions / Change Lyrics Font?
« on: July 26, 2018, 08:02:10 AM »
Where can I change the lyrics font?  I've spent an hour combing the preferences and googling, but the option is most definitely not where the wiki shows it to be.

Thanks.

Thanks. While that was not the solution, it did provide a vital clue by showing the library locations from previous installations.  Apparently I had moved my current library out of the User folder when I re-installed Windows, so the files there weren't being used by MusicBee at all any more.  I just moved them to the new location and my lyrics have re-appeared!   :D

Need a bump... I could really use some assistance here because I had a large number of tracks edited with guitar chords for practice and would love to not recreate them.  Thanks!

Thanks for the replies.  Same library, yes.  It's on a separate partition with all the music.  I think I changed my username, but this has not been an issue with any other software using AppData, which I copied to the new user folder.  Sorry, I don't understand the suggestion to "replace the backed up directories with the default ones."  Why would I want to do that?

Where are the lyrics actually stored?  The .lyrics file in My Music does not change its modified date when I edit lyrics, so apparently not there.  Actually none of the files there seem to be recognized or used by the new install because the date is always the same as when I copied it.  It's weird because new playlists appear there, but the old ones are not recognized by MB and I had to remake them all manually.

Questions / Unsuccessful migration [SOLVED]
« on: January 06, 2018, 07:06:35 AM »
Hi.  I recently reinstalled Windows and took great pains to backup all my personal data, but after installing MusicBee, it doesn't recognize any of my playlists and does not load the lyrics I thought I had embedded in the files themselves (lyrics I spent a lot of time adding guitar chords to etc).

I copied my entire AppData folder to the new setup including the MusicBee folder in My Music, but MusicBee doesn't recognize it.  Did personal data move to a new location in a new version or something?  It's pretty upsetting to lose all of that work.

I've Googled and installed any lyrics plugins I could find (can't remember what plugins I had before).  What did I forget to do?

Pretty please?  Or if someone can explain the reasoning behind the current system I could at least stop being so annoyed with it.

Questions / Re: Play Now without Clearing Now Playing List
« on: September 09, 2016, 06:16:37 AM »
Shuffle still doesn't work very well.  If I try to "Play Library Shuffled," it always starts with the same track.  Shuffle option doesn't affect the playlist order and I must use the list>shuffle list context command to get a shuffled playlist always.  And with big lists I have to do it a couple times to not have many related songs playing back to back.

Questions / Play Now without Clearing Now Playing List
« on: March 31, 2016, 04:14:00 AM »
When I use the option "queue selected tracks and play now," I'd expect the track selection to be inserted into the Now Playing List at the current position and immediately start with the first track when I double-click or right-click and select Play Now.  Instead, they are either queued last or somewhere at the top of the list and the Now Playing List just skips the current track.

How can I simply get a file to play when double clicked, without first clearing Now Playing?

Is this a bug?

Also, what's the difference between Play Now and Play Shuffled?  They both do the exact same thing.   They add the files in order and start playing the first file (only if the Now Playing List is clear, of course).  Even if Shuffle is on for the player, I must always skip to the second track before anything is shuffled.

I'm using latest beta.  Good to see that's an option, thanks ssri, that solves it.

MusicBee Wishlist / Track Information Toggle
« on: March 29, 2016, 02:18:36 AM »
For a while we could toggle the Track Information display between Now Playing & Selected track with a single click.  Now it's back to a 2 clicks drop-down option., which is a bit tiresome if you switch it a lot.  We don't need a drop-down to toggle between only two choices.  Could be go back to the simpler behavior, please?

Thanks.

I like the idea.

MusicBee Wishlist / Skip Count Threshold
« on: March 29, 2016, 02:10:01 AM »
The way the skip count +1 option (now playing prefs) works is completely counter-intuitive for me.  Most often I'm skipping a song just to find one I want to hear or because there is too much silence/crap at the start or end, and in either case don't want it adding to the skip count.  But with the current system, I get unwanted skip counts regardless of what value I enter, since immediately skipping a track will always be less than the percentage it takes to decide I don't want to hear it.

Almost seems like it should be a more than value rather than a less than value, except this also wouldn't work for both scenarios.  The only time I'd want to add to the skip count (for use in filters) is if I'm skipping because I don't like it and I'm never going to decide that at the very start or end.

What I would propose is a 2 slider system based on the length of the song, where skip count is only affected when skipping somewhere in the middle of the song, just not the very start or toward the end.

Thanks for your consideration and of course for providing a great piece of software!

Ok I've got one idea to contribute here.  One thing that bothers me about the current UI is that we can't display the waveform up top and also see the song info, as with the progress bar.

So my suggestion is to just put that text right over top of the waveform with color inversion as an option.
