I don't use Reddit, but I don't see how that would work if you can't group posts into separate sub-areas. Wouldn't it just be one big streaming amorphous mess of messages?

Most subreddits address that by using "flair" which is a type of tag. For example, the Plex subreddit lets you tag your posts as Discussion, Tips, News, Help, or Solved.

Added, although it won't look exactly like the screenshot since MusicBee has changed a bit since it was taken.

Good idea. Please see the new link that I added under beeTunes 3 on the first post. Let me know if it works.

Thanks for your response. I guess there isn’t really a standard way.

Can you update the guide to configuring MusicBee to match the layout in the screenshot please, I would like to use this.

The link on page 7 no longer works

Hi, sorry I'm just seeing your question. Which screenshot are you referring to? It's been a while since I've messed with my MusicBee configuration settings but I'm sure I could help you figure it out.

General Discussions / Tagging Song Covers
« on: June 12, 2020, 01:38:16 AM »
Does anyone use a certain tag to track renditions of songs by other artists. For example, "Killing Me Softly" was originally recorded by Lori Lieberman in 1972, so on the Roberta Flack version of the song, I have the following tags.

Original Artist: Lori Lieberman
Original Album: Lori Lieberman
Original Year: 1972

It has recently come to my attention that some people use these tags in a different way (see this thread, where I asked the same question).

Just wondering how other people use these tags and how they tag cover versions, if at all.

What is 'original' here?
And is your head already spinning?

I agree, I wish it was more definitive. Out of curiosity, do you have a way for tagging song covers?

There is also a Original Date field. Do you use that in the same way as the Original Year?

But the original albums in that box set could have their original release dates in the 'original year' tag.

I don't think it is convention to use the "Original Year" tag in this way. From my understanding, it is meant for cover versions of songs. So for example, Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" would have an original year of 1974, because that is when Dolly Parton released her original version.

Yep, that fixed it. Thank you!

Sorry I didn't reply sooner.

Yes, the files in the Inbox are on the same drive as the music library. That fix didn't seem to help. Here is a gif of what is happening.

Questions / Dragging music from Inbox to Library
« on: October 29, 2019, 11:37:08 PM »
In previous versions of MusicBee, when I dragged a song from my Inbox to my Library, the file was moved into the Library and deleted from the Inbox. Recently, dragging from Inbox to Library only copies the file. Is there a setting to change this back?

Edit: It seems like this change was intentional. If I drag to the library using the sidebar, the hover text says "Auto-Organize to Files to Music Library". I was previously dragging it to a header tab, where it says "Copy to Music Library".

Yes, I don't see the issue anymore with that new version.

Yes. The files appear to always be a different set of around 5-20 files.

For most of them, only difference in the naming is a _1 at the end, before the extension. But for some of the new names, it looks like it is appending part of the title of a different song to the beginning of the filename.

Example: Dillon Francis\This Mixtape Is File\1-07 I Can't Take It [Party Favor Remix].mp3 to Dillon Francis\This Mixtape Is Fire\1-03 Between Me and You1-07 I Can't Take It [Party Favor Remix].mp3.
(Between Me and You is a Ja Rule song, in a completely different folder).

I am using version 3.2.6561.

No luck after re-scanning all of my files. If no one else is having this, it's no big deal since it doesn't look like it is actually moving anything.
