update Jan 2016:
There are two download links:
- Skin version 2.x which is compatible with MusicBee v2.x releases.
This one is final and will be no longer maintained.
- Skin version 3.x which is only compatible with MusicBee v3.x releases.
Please feel free to comment, be it good or bad.

Nice work! I know there was another skin called Chocolate, but that's what this one makes me think of.

Thnx, I checked, and there are indeed some similarities.
Mine is more 'pure' chocolate, and less milky or white chocolate.
Pure is better for the eyes ;-)
-
I agree. :)
-
Mmmmm Hot chocolate with some marshmallows :)
Another great one in the repertoire, jistme
Nice work!
-
Thanks jistme!
-
very nice, thanks
-
Found and fixed some small flaws.
Re-upped.
-
Did you make your own icons for this?
-
Yep.
I once created them because I could not find anything nice to fit my Tron Punk skin.
Being rather content with the result, I used them also as a basis for 'A Sophisticated Bee' and it's nightly version.
-
I now see I never mentioned this before,
A while back I updated this skin to accommodate for the (then) new compact player, and I dimmed the album-art. So please understand that there's nothing wrong with your files or display when you find your album art too dark suddenly. That would be my my fault (choice) ;-)
-
This skin has been updated.
The download link has also been updated in the starting post of this topic.
Changed:
Under MusicBee v2.x it was not behaving very well with custom font types and sizes for the player info panel.
That should now have been vastly improved, and the skin is now also up to date for 'MusicBee v3demo'
(which is in development and in alpha stage at this moment of writing)
Please feel free to comment, be it good or bad.

Update:
There are now two versions of this skin.
- A version for MusicBee v2.x, which is is final and won't be maintained anymore.
- An updated version for MusicBee v3.x only.
The download link is in the start post.
-
Some more sophistication was added.
-
Lots of small improvements.

Hi,
Thanks for this skin. It's become my preferred skin. After a few months of using it, I decided to customize the layout to my likes. One issue I've come across is the "Sidebar Player". When I "Show All Player Controls" (http://i.imgur.com/vAiOmP7.png), the "EQ", "Last.fm", "Repeat", "Shuffle" buttons are very difficult (almost invisible) to see. (Versus not clicking "Show All Player Controls" (http://i.imgur.com/g3sInej.png).)
For reference, "Sidebar Player" under Duophonic skin. With "Show All Player Controls" (http://i.imgur.com/MOZ0hT8.png) and without (http://i.imgur.com/7JyoWiF.png).
Is there a way to make the buttons more visible?
-
Thanks for the appreciation, and for reporting this issue.
I'll have a look at it, and I probably should be able to fix it.
(should be done before the end of the week)
-
The skin is updated.
Let me know if you find it's o.k. now, or if you maybe have other suggestions for improvements.
-
Cheers,
Looks great. Thanks for the speedy fix. :)
-
Updated to accommodate for a couple of new features of MB v3.1.
A minor note to prevent possible confusion: for the rating 'no stars', I dropped the bomb, and now use a 'thumbs down' icon.
-
Improved some more for v3.1 and added/improved a few icons.
-
Updated.
- The player panel has been improved a bit, and will now remain slim & slender™, also when larger fonts are selected for the main player’s track info.
- the option for displaying a wavebar in the player panel has been added.
The download link is in the start post.
(MB v3.1.6363 or higher is recommended)
-
updated
(and probably final for MB v3.1)
the download link is in the startpost
-
updated for MB 3.2

hiccup,
Thanks for the help and fix on my other post, but now it seems something else has come up. The leading numbers in the track length/time seems to be getting cut off in the player.
It should actually read 18:28/1:00:23.
-
It's probably dependent on the custom font you chose for the main player.
Which font are you using for that?

Comic Sans MS 9pt
Now that you say that, I tried changing the font to various others and also tried changing font size with the same result. It looks like the time display area is fixed and as the track length grows it will go outside the area. Also, the track time font size doesn't change if I changed font size in my settings.

Thanks for the input.
The font size for the duration is fixed for this skin, but the font type can make a small difference.
(e.g. Comic Sans MS is wider than Segoe UI)
I gave it some more space now.
Please let me know if that fixes it for you, and if you have other suggestions/observations.
-
Thanks hiccup,
Looks like that took care of it.

I was just looking at the player layout and there's a "Show Track Details on Multiple Lines" option that I can't check. Is that something that can be incorporated?
Thanks again and keep up the good work.

I usually prefer thin player panels, which makes having two text lines not working very well. (tried it and abandoned it)
It could be done by heightening the whole player panel and/or by relocating the progress bar away from under the text, but that's too much work for achieving something I don't like much myself.
So, sorry.

No worries. Can't say I've ever seen that before until I started futzing around with the player preferences. So it doesn't take anything away from the skin. Just something I saw and thought I'd ask about. Thanks.

minor update
Hey,
The 3.1 link in the 1st post points to 3.2 Mar 2019. Is that the updated one? I checked the 2.5 link and that points to 2.5.
Also, the "A Sophisticated Bee" skin 3.1 link points to 3.2 Jan 2019. Your other skins that have been updated point to an Apr 2019 version.
-
Thanks for observing, both links are fixed.
I see that the start post of 'A Sophisticated Bee' indeed mentions 3.1 instead of 3.2, but I can't correct that since I created that post with an older alias of mine which is now defunct and I can't edit anymore.
-
Updated, minor tweaks, device icons added.
(these device icons will only show up in MusicBee v3.4> which is not yet available at this moment)
-
Updated again, the Mini Player has been improved.
(needs MB 3.3.7299 or up to display as intended)
My apologies for this forum bomb (again ;-) , but it's probably useful to users of these skins that have subscribed so to get notifications on updates.
-
updated
Main changes:
- The Jukebox view is skinned.
- The readability/contrast of sub-text fields in 'Album and Tracks' view and in the Expanded Album panel is improved.
note: both these updates only function under MusicBee 3.4
(which is currently under development and in alpha release state)
-
updated
improved the contrast/legibility of the text in the status bar

Hi can you please add the "show last.fm scrobble button" mentioned in https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=31175.0

It's there and it's always been there?:

It's a little bit big and fat though, perhaps I'll slim it down a little bit when I update the skin a next time.

Sorry should've been more specific. I meant the option to remove the last.fm button.

Sorry should've been more specific. I meant the option to remove the last.fm button.
I am very reluctant to create, release and needing to maintain another skin (version) that is almost identical to an existing one.
But I am pretty sure there have been requests (and wish posts perhaps?) that ask for MusicBee having a configuration setting to be able to hide the last.fm button.
It seems a valid request to me since there are probably a lot of MusicBee users that don't use last.fm, and don't need that button in view taking up space all the time.
(I'm not sharing my data with last.fm, so I have no use for that button either)
If that feature becomes available in MusicBee, I will take a look at all of my skins, and see which ones I can modify so that they work well both with and without that button.
Same as it currently functions for 'love', 'rating', 'eq' and 'spectrum visualisations'.
So your best hopes are in it becoming a MusicBee feature to be able to hide the last.fm button…

Errr...

Which begs the question why isn't that option available in A Sophisticated Bee?

Errr...
Interesting. That one must have slipped by me.
I see it was introduced with 3.4.
But it looks like that feature is not available for skinning, so it can't be done for xmlc skins, only for xml skins.

The first screenshot is of a xml skin. I haven't checked other smlc skins, but what you say makes sense.

updated
The last.fm scrobble button can now be hidden.
