Title: Fireside skin
Post by: Bee-liever on November 10, 2012, 01:28:42 AM
ATTENTION!
This skin has been updated for MusicBee 3 and later.
Compatibility with version 2.5 or earlier is not guaranteed.

This is one I've been kicking around awhile.
I'm not 100% satisfied with it, but I can't work out why  ???
So, for better or worse here is:

And I think I've finally got it right (at least, for the moment  ;)  )

Looks good to me. I wasn't expecting to like it but after trying it I have to say it is a good one.

A fun and creative addition again!

I'm not 100% satisfied with it, but I can't work out why  ???

My 2cnts:
If you'd aspire the 'look' of a fireplace, I feel the source of the fire should be on the bottom.
Then e.g. the player could be on the bottom with brighter yellow/orange tones, and the higher in the skin you get, the darker it'll have to become.
And in the caption bar then you'd need to have some miniscule family portraits picture frames and two candles ;-)

Thanks jistme. You reminded me what was wrong!
I meant to have the family crest and some crossed swords....
Oops. No . I was going to use a gradient at the bottom but there is a problem with the LH/RH panels. So it's off to the developers board for me.

i have been looking at stealing your method for form border top 384x28 but it doesn't seem to work for me. even the border when im using your fireside skin isn't the same as in your pictures.

That's strange

Does redwing's Darknight Blue (http://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=8851.0) have the same problem?

I wonder if having the tabs in the title bar changes how the border is generated?

what DPI or font scaling eg. 110% do you have set in the windows control panel

Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display

check the above, seems it's an issue if your settings aren't 96 DPI / 100% scaling

scaling is set to 100%.

Woo-hoo!
40 downloads in 3 days  :)
That's more than the last update got in 11 months.
I'll think I can take that as an OK from users, that they are also happy with the changes to this skin.

Hi @Bee-liever this is by far the best skin on the site and my daily driver and i have to thank you for providing it for us to admire our music with.  Would it be possible for you to enlarge the album thumbnails up-to twice their present size as on a monitor that is 2560x1440 at their biggest thumbnail size they are still small, showing eleven albums across and five albums down.

Thank you again for such a wonderful pleasingly aesthetic skin and have you any plans for a fireside 2 skin or different colour combination of said skin.

again thank you very much for something so pleasing.

I believe Bee-liever is currently limited in spending time on the forum, so please allow me to respond:

The maximum artwork sizes are not adjustable by a skin.
The (I agree) rather small artwork is a current limitation of MusicBee.

I happened to create a wish for allowing larger sizes just this week.
You may want to support it:

Thank you for your compliments @eathearty
At this stage I have no future plans (except maintenance) for any of my skins.
