Title: Last.fm Stats
Post by: Steven on September 06, 2012, 10:25:10 PM
I have created a plugin that displays playcount statistics from last.fm (similar to the foo_silk plugin). When installed the plugin creates a new tab in the "Playing Track" panel (viewable via the Now Playing node or as a separate tab configured via the Panel Layout button by the search box). It works with MusicBee 2 or above

it can show the top 20/50/100 playcounts over 12 Months; 6 Months; 3 Months; 1 Month; 1 Week for your:
- albums
- artists
- tracks
right click on the panel to change the settings

Installation
for MusicBee version 3.0+:
unzip the plugin: https://getmusicbee.com/download/plugins/mb_LastFmStatsPlugin.zip (https://getmusicbee.com/download/plugins/mb_LastFmStatsPlugin.zip)
- copy the files to the Plugins sub-folder of MusicBee

Very cool plugin.  Thanks Steven.

One thing I've noticed.  I usually have 5 tabs open; Music, Playing Track, Visualizer, Now Playing, and Inbox.  If I click on the new tab "Last.fm Stats" in Now Playing, works great.  When I switch to the Playing Track tab, where the new "Last.fm Stats" tab is also visible, when I click on the "Last.fm Stats" tab, the panel remains blank.

Is this something in my setup?

Anyway, small thing as this new plugin rocks!

Is this something in my setup?
if i understand the issue correctly this should fix it:
http://musicbee.niblseed.com/V2/MusicBee_Exe_Patched.zip

the plugin link in the first post is updated.
You can now configure the period in each columns as:
Overall; 12 Months; 6 Months; 3 Months; 1 Month; 1 Week

Also it appears last.fm has changed the api slightly for personal image sizes, so the plugin has been changed to accomodate that

I found a bug.

If you set it to show 50 or 100 items a number of items in the end is not shown and you cant scroll down to see them

Thanks Steven.  The plugin now works perfectly with both the Playing Track tab and the Now Playing tab.  Plus the adjustable time periods for the three columns is a nice addition.

The plugin has been updated so you can now configure it to show 2-4 columns, and each column can now be set to show a specific data type
eg. column 1 shows Overall Artist; column 2 shows Overall Album; columns 3&4 hidden

see the first post for the updated plugin link

Hello, a minor bug.

When you first un-hide the 4th column, the 4th column appears with no information. However, when you change the duration (Overall, 12 Months, etc.), it shows everything as expected.

EDIT: Actually, it only happens when the 4th column has "1 Month Top Tracks" enabled. Nothing shows.

strange - its only top tracks over 1month that has the problem as far as i can see, and its last.fm itself which is returning no data so nothing i can do about it

the artist/album/track text can now be clicked (left or right click) and can perform any of the following actions:
- open artist page on last.fm (valid only for artist links)
- find matching tracks (matches are opened in the library tab or a new tab if no library tab is open)
- find similar artists (valid only for artist links)

Hi. I've copied the dll from the download (just one file in the download right ?) and placed it in the Plugins sub-folder.

I've restarted MusicBee bu am not seeing the Last.fm Stats tab on the bottom track & artist info panel. Other plugins I just installed are working ok such as Recommendations. Am I doing something incorrectly ?

Brian.

I've been using this plugin for over a year now, but I just noticed that it doesn't seem to update the artist info when a track by a different artist begins playing.  It continues to display the artist information for whatever artist was in the Now Playing list when Musicbee was launched.  If I close, and then re-launch, the artist info updates, but then doesn't continue to update during that session until I close/re-open.   I'm running MB 2.5.5447 and I believe the latest version of this plug-in which hasn't had a recent update according to this thread.  Any thoughts?

Not that I know of, but my issue is with the "Last.fm" tab of this window.  On my Muscibee set up, when I go to the "Playing Track" tab, there are 5 sub-tabs created by this plugin (Details, Last.fm, Wikipedia, youtube, Last.fm Stats).   The Last.fm tab features information on the artist currently playing as well as a photo show of band pictures and then Recent and Upcoming Releases.   But now that I'm going through this, I'm noticing that none of these other tabs (Details, Wiki,) are updating to the artist that is currently playing.
Title: Re: Last.fm Stats
Post by: superstar19 on January 08, 2015, 03:09:35 AM
I probably didn't put this in the proper thread.   My issue really isn't with the stats.  It's with the "Playing Track" tab which "Last.fm Stats" is one of the choices ,but the specific problem is that the "Details", "Last.fm", "Wikipedia", and "YouTube" functions don't update with the current playing artist like they used to do.
Title: Re: Last.fm Stats
Post by: Steven on January 08, 2015, 11:10:32 AM
that has nothing what to do with this plugin. I would say you have opened the panel for a specific artist by clicking on the artist in the Now Playing panel. Close the tab and open the "Playing Track" panel via the panel layout button
Title: Re: Last.fm Stats
Post by: superstar19 on January 09, 2015, 12:21:09 AM
Thanks.  That did the trick.  Apologize for putting this here.  For some reason I was thinking this plugin is what generated those features in the Playing Track tab.

just tried now and all working fine. Nothing has been changed on the MusicBee side and the last.fm api hasnt been changed.
If you still have problems, check you security software is not blocking musicbee. And you might try using the fiddler call to see what messages are being passed to/ from last.fm

Not sure if this is an issue with the stats plugin or related to the last.fm issues mentioned above, but the column for "3 Months" is displaying my Overall stats.  This seems to be the only time period with an issue (Overall, 12, 6, 1 month all seem to be displaying correctly).   I first noticed this about 2 months ago, but didn't post anything about it due to the other issues.  Now I'm not so sure if this is related.  I'm using the latest 2.5 release.  Anybody else having same issue and is it with the plugin or caused by last.fm?

Hi, great plugin, but i have an issue.

I run 3 columns one with overall top artist, one with overall top track and one with top track for the last month.

The two first works as they should, but the third one puts them in the correct order but puts in the overall values.

Is there a known fix for that?

There's a library report function that does that already.  If it's not detailed enough, try the Additional Tagging & Reporting Tools plugin.

I have this problem as well. It wasn't a big deal to me when last.fm was using their old site, but now that they updated I never go to last.fm and just use the MusicBee Last.fm stats plugin.
I'm running 2.5.5447 and just reinstalled the plugin. The problem still persists.

Installation
for MusicBee version 3.0+:
unzip the plugin: http://www.mediafire.com/file/3td2dmt2hd6vdk1/mb_LastFmStatsPlugin.zip/file (http://www.mediafire.com/file/3td2dmt2hd6vdk1/mb_LastFmStatsPlugin.zip/file)
- copy the files to the Plugins sub-folder of MusicBee

Thank you, Steven. The plug works smooth as butter on 2020 April. on Bee vers. 3.3.7367  (by the way could we rename MB version to reflect year and month) it is waaaaaaay more convening.

I'm using Absolute Zero, which is the very first skin. Which one is the default?
MusicBee3 is the default.

Steven will have to weigh in on whether the error is relevant.

I changed it to MusicBee3 and the plugin worked. I then changed the skin back to Absolute Zero and it's still working. I'm guessing this is what happened last time it worked: I must have changed the skin to something else and then back, after which the plugin worked briefly.

I'm still having the same issues I had way back, too.
