Title: Tundra Series
Post by: Bee-liever on August 24, 2012, 02:31:18 AM
ATTENTION!
This skin has been updated for MusicBee 3.3.
For backwards-compatibility some code and icons have been retained from earlier versions but, compatibility is not guaranteed.

Here is a series of skins I've put together, based on the colours found at various times in the seasons of the Northern tundra.

I love that splash screen.

Thanks :)
I think it turned out quite good, but my favourite is still my minimize button :D
(you have to mouse-over to get the full effect)

:o I didn't even notice that, very nice touch. Quite a lot of originality in these skins  ;)

Wow, they are, eh different ;-)
Looks like some dare to be different and out of the box thinking has been going on.

Also very glad no penguins were (directly) hurt...
Penguins are great. I've had a similar idea a while back to maybe someday make a skin based on their colors:

I've had a similar idea a while back to maybe someday make a skin based on their colors:

You've really got to do that! The silvery grey, the golden yellow, and that not quite black/not quite yellow piece on the left of the throat would be amazing.

I found this tool
Instant Color Picker http://www.youngsmarts.com/index.htm (http://www.youngsmarts.com/index.htm)
invaluable for selecting just the right colour you need

Ok, I might.
If you are inspired by the penguin, I'm curious how you would do it.
(Needless to say the idea is not patented ;-)

I see from your other post that you have already been inspired and moved too quick for me  :D

I find a lot of yellow on screen can be hard on the eyes, so I would use the strong yellows as background and border colours, using several tones of the silvery grey in the panel body, with a liberal use of black.

The yellow/black colour on the neck would probably appear as an unusual green (when viewed separately), so I would use that for the text.

Now onto King Penguin.....

Thanks for these, I think it's been a while since I updated and they look even better now.

Just wondered, is there any reason why you don't centre the player bar text, do you prefer it that way? I used a skin with it centred for quite a while and I have to have it now, it seems really out of place without it.

It wasn't a conscious decision either way.  I sort of started out doing the normal skins non-centered and the bitmap skins centered, and I've kept that pattern going.
I suppose I should pick one way and stick to it.  ;)

You can edit the "Aurora" skin, just add the new entry in the settings after line #300

<element id="PlayerInfoCentered">true</element>

and it will be picked up by all the skins in the series

OK. It's easier for me to update that line, especially for someone that always has something good to say about my skins. :D
And since I'm updating all my skins with new elements, I'll make them all centered.

File updated in download link.

Ahh, memories.  To be working again on the first set of skins I made for MusicBee.  :D

Have modernised the icons and softened some of the contrasts for MB3.

i been using ur skin and  i like it a lot but there is small problem..
from below screenshot u can see. rating of playing track is 5 ,
while the actual rating is 1star.
it happens to all the tracks.means whatever track i play it will show playing track with 5stars..i checked with other skins but they are fine but all ur tundra series i get this problem.

Hi user73
I've tried several different panel configurations but still can't duplicate the ratings error.
I did notice in your attached image that the panel header is also not displaying correctly, so I think it could be something to do with your configuration.
Maybe DPI settings?

Hi there! I really enjoy these skins. Thank you! I've currently been using Tundra--Aurora for over a year. I'm curious if it's possible for me to change the 'No Artist' and 'No Album' images on my PC? I see these are in XMLC and I cannot modify those. Any help or direction you can lend would be much appreciated. Thanks!
