Hello,
I just switched ober from MediaMonkey.
It would be great if the Auto-tagger could include style information from Discogs and place them in the genre-field! On electronic music this would be really helpful!
I.e. Discogs shows this information:
Pearson Sound – PEARS88
Genre: Electronic
Style: Breakbeat, Bass Music, Dubstep
The genre-tag(s) should look like this:
Genre: Breakbeat
Genre: Bass Music
Genre: Dubstep
Genre: Electronic
(Breakbeat; Bass Music; Dubstep; Electronic)
An options menu for the auto-tagger would be great, too for advanced users! I would like to put the real genre (Electronic) behind the style tags, other user will maybe prefer the other direction!?
Would be really great if you implement that! You are doing a great job here!
Best,
Tim

It would be useful, too, to integrate the catalognr. from discogs as well. As there is no standard id3-tag field for that I use a custom one called 'CATALOG #' (TXXX).
I.e.:
Pearson Sound – Untitled / Footloose
Label: Pearson Sound – PEARS88
Would be integrated like this:
TXXX CATALOG # PEARS88

Bump :)
I was just about to post a similar thread requesting this feature. I find that discogs.com is by far the best source when it comes to genre tagging - too bad that musicbee doesn't support the 'style' tag from discogs.com.
Is it possible to add this in the coming versions of musicbee?
-
yes i agree the styles are more specific and have done the first request for the next v2.4 update

Is there a way to get just the Discogs genres, the same way we can with Last.fm?

i dont understand what you mean

I mean, you can automatically download genres from last.fm [added: for lots of tracks at once]. Could we do the same with discogs genres?

So is it possible to have the musicbee discogs auto tagger to retrieve the genre styles? And if so, can the tagger combine both genre and style to multiple genre tags i.e. genre 1; genre 2; genre 3; etc.
I haven't been able to figure this out. Would be extremely helpful if MB could do this.
