Title: Minilyrics Helper
Post by: Steven on August 18, 2011, 08:19:57 PM
This plugin integrates lyrics downloaded by mini-lyrics into the musicbee lyrics panel.

First you need the mini-lyrics application from Crintsoft:
http://www.crintsoft.com/dl.htm
if you prefer the mini-lyrics GUI for displaying lyrics then thats all you need (its very nice!) - it integrates with MusicBee and shows lyrics for the playing track

but if you prefer to have lyrics displayed in musicbee:
- create a folder where MusicBee is installed called Plugins
eg. C:\Program Files\MusicBee\Plugins
- and unzip to the Plugins folder
  plugin:
  https://getmusicbee.com/download/plugins/mb_MiniLyricsHelper.zip (https://getmusicbee.com/download/plugins/mb_MiniLyricsHelper.zip)

- restart MusicBee
- you will need to configure the plugin in the Plugin Preferences panel and it will need to match how you configure mini-lyrics eg. if you configure minilyrics to download lyrics to a specific folder, you will need to configure this helper plugin to reference the same folder

also see http://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=4206 for other useful info

Steven, do you think it is safe to use this plugin?
After the problems that I had that may have been related to MiniLyrics writing to files while they were in use, I have been wary of trying it again.

I would like to use it to pull and save synchronized lyrics for my songs.

i think ma_t14 uses this plugin with no problems and make sure you use the latest mini-lyrics version.
Personally i dont like the way mini-lyrics writes the lyrics to the music file while it is still playing and i would configure mini-lyrics not to do that.
If mini-lyrics was configured just to write to a folder and you configured the the helper plugin to read from the same directory then you should definitely have no problems

It's the same with me, since about 2 weeks Mini Lyrics doesn't download any song titles anymore.

But in my opinion this seems to be due to Minilyrics,

I don't have problem to view and download lrc lyrics with official MiniLyrics plugin, however I don't like the floating window and I would prefer to have a dockable panel ant this is why I'm trying MiniLyrics Helper

at this time the lyrics site for minilyrics no longer exists, from what little info i've gathered they were bought out. As far as I know there's really no other good LRC sites.. More and more those of us that still have a personal music library are losing the little things thanks to streaming services..

?

https://www.crintsoft.com/minilyrics/ and https://www.viewlyrics.com/ both exist and I am able to search / retrieve lyrics from them.

https://www.viewlyrics.com/
Home page "opens" blank except for a menu bar across the top. Any selected menu option throws a 404.

https://www.viewlyrics.com/
Home page "opens" blank except for a menu bar across the top. Any selected menu option throws a 404.
It exists and searches through the app produce results.  Not sure what more you need. I never actually used the site for anything and I doubt many others have either.

What happens if you log in and try to upload lyrics?

I see where the confusion might be.  I said "from them" meaning from the MiniLyrics service, not referring to either of the sites.

@frankz- I think you quoted the wrong person. I was merely confirming that the viewlyrics site isn't working. I don't use it and don't plan on using it. But minilyrics still exists and again, while I don't use it, I have in the past, and it was pretty good. No need here for synced lyrics. (BTW - good to see you back here)

It looks like the "top" lists are broken, but everything else works.  In any event, it definitely "exists," which the first guy said it didn't.

Thanks. Seemed like an "all hands on deck" situation.  Steven deserves time to live his life after all he's done for the community.

You guys are too kind. Warning: I'm still a bit of a jerk.

I do stand corrected, I did discover the other day that the actual mini lyrics program is still pulling lyrics but I also use another music program in conjunction with musicbee to gather lyrics and other data that has a plugin that does use that website to pull lyrics which wasn't working any more. when you have a rather large music library you tend to like to have things like that a little more automated, going through song by song one at a time can be a bit time consuming to say the least.

I'm new to MusicBee and I'm attempting to integrate synchronized lyrics using MiniLyrics and this plugin.  I downloaded mb_MiniLyricsHelper (DotNet4).zip from this plugins page (https://getmusicbee.com/addons/plugins/135/minilyrics-helper/).

I've configured MiniLyrics (https://i.imgur.com/tCod4AB.png) to save all lyrics to a specific directory, using the same name as the song file, and I've configured the MiniLyrics Helper plugin (https://i.imgur.com/xnomBnQ.png) to retrieve and show the downloaded lyrics files from that same directory.

When a song starts playing, the lyrics are downloaded and displayed successfully in MiniLyrics.  However, the lyrics don't appear in MusicBee the first time the song is played.  They do appear in MusicBee on every subsequent play.

I read in another topic (https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=1654.msg9419#msg9419) that the plugin was updated to include polling to resolve this issue, but it doesn't seem to be working; songs play through in their entirety without displaying any lyrics.

Do I have an outdated version of the plugin?  Is something else going wrong?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I don't know why you posted this as a bug as you clearly admit you screwed something up.

Assuming you're referring to the MiniLyrics Helper plugin, I have moved it to that thread where you may get some help.
Most important in a case like this where it's a display issue, a screenshot will definitely help.
screenshots: https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=29488.0
upload to: www.gifyu.com or www.imgur.com

And unless you have synced lyrics already saved, MiniLyrics won't help you any longer as the website and app have disappeared.

Lastly it's not a good idea to post your email address in a public forum as you are  opening yourself up to scams and unsolicited email. I have removed it for you.
