Hi, I've gone round and round in circles for several weeks so far, trying to use existing posts and failing miserably. I am using MB version 3.4.8033 .
The existing MusicBee programme is on my C drive. My music is in a file labelled, imaginatively, " MusicBee", on a separate hard disc Z, which when opened, just contains a list of all my albums. I want to transfer everything to a USB pendrive, onto which I have downloaded MusicBee portable.
I presume I should be able to copy and paste everything to the pendrive, but it is not at all clear what I should transfer and to where - there seems to be a completely different set of file names on the portable version from what is on my hard drive.
Any help welcome.

I think you mean your "music" (does that mean the actual audio files?) is in a FOLDER, not file. "MusicBee" is a bad choice for a folder name as it's the same as the app's main folder. I have no idea what you mean by "when opened, just contains a list of all my albums." Or did you mean "MusicBee" is the name of your library *.mbl file? Are your audio tracks elsewhere?

IMHO there's a lot to be said for just pretending the old install doesn't exist and starting from scratch with a fresh Portable install, unless stuff like play counts etc. is important to you.

Sorry, I don't know the lingo, but what I meant was my Library is on a separate hard drive from my programmes (which are on C:) in a file Music(Z:)>Music>MusicBee. It took me many months to rip all my CDs to .flac files and I'm pretty sure I would give on MusicBee up before restarting from Scratch.
I presumed that I would be able to copy my library to my pendrive together with any other necessary files - though it is not at all clear which files I would need.
Surely, moving 'everything necessary' to a pen drive running the portable version of MusicBee can't be that complicated?

MusicBee is a free software program and the support given here is also provided free of charge.
If getting a handle on the basics of the program is too much for you, it would be best to trial other music managers.
As such, expecting people to hand hold when the learning material is made available is a bit presumptuous.

To translate, you desire to move your music files (not your "Library") from the Z: drive to your USB drive, which currently contains a portable version of MusicBee.
If you don't care about the Library data, why not simply copy your music files to the USB drive and then within MusicBee portable create a new Library that points to them.
This approach seems sensical and uncomplicated to me...?
