Title: Artwork Issues
Post by: AN on October 17, 2022, 09:35:28 AM
Hi All

First post and a bit of an odd one. I have a library on my home computer, works great no issues.
I recorded a loads of my old vinyl music and converted to mp3, updating the artwork as i went.

Last night i copied all my music to an external hd, one so i have a backup but secondly so i can listen to it at work (thanks google music!!!).
I installed music bee at work but i have noticed that the artwork on a lot of songs is all messed up and i am trying to understand why. For a lot of tracks it seems to have allocated at random artwork from another track. The original artwork i applied is still there but when i edit the track it appears to be the second option.

Example below

In that example the second image should be the artwork and the first image shouldnt be there at all, that artwork is for another track.

This only seems to be affecting tracks i have manually assigned artwork too either through musicbee or mp3tag.
Tracks that i have purchased via digital sites seem unaffected.

So have i made a mistake assigning artwork? In music bee i use the embed into track option.
In mp3 tag i just browse.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Could you post a screenshot or describe your settings for the artwork which is located in Preferences/Tags(1)/artwork?

The issue your describing sometimes means that Musicbee is set to look for a cover.jpg or folder.jpg to use as the artwork and you might have one of those files on the loose, i.e not in their correct folder for the album in question.

if you download music files to the same folder where that folder already has some artwork, then that artwork will be linked to downloaded file and follow the music file when its moved

Hi Steven, thanks for the info. But when i added the artwork i chose to embed the artwork into the mp3 so there is no file to link it too.
And like i noted, its not that the artworks isnt there, it is. Its just that for some reason a random artwork has been allocated and made a priority over the original i added.

Thanks for the screenshot. That's helpful. Under "set which pictures are displayed", have you tried clicking "Edit List" and then unchecking everything except "Embedded"? Just speaking from my own experience, I have embedded artwork in all my files and also a cover.jpg in my album folders, but I only have "Embedded" checked and I've never had any trouble with the wrong artwork being displayed.

My thoughts when looking at the settings you posted is that there's an Artwork.jpg or Front.jpg somewhere in your music folder that MB is using because of those settings, even though it doesn't belong to the right album.

Perfect thank you. That fixed a lot of the issues, i also noticed that i did have a cover.jpg in some other folders which i have now removed and embedded in the music file.
Thanks for the help everyone.
