Title: Animated gif support
Post by: Antonski on July 24, 2009, 01:35:18 PM
Hello,

This is an idea from another forum, I found it interesting.
As I can see, gif is allowed for embedding to a file as an artwork, but is it possible to support animated gif as well?
So one can create an animated gif with front, back, leaflet, disk image etc. and they will be displayed consecutively?

i will need to make a couple of changes to the picture handling but should be OK to do. If you synch to a portable device you might want to check if it can support the display of such an image though

Bump.  The split album with Wisp and Mrs Jynx "From Us to You" uses an animated gif as its album cover, since it was a digital release.  It'd be great it MB3 were able to display the cover with the animation.

Hi there, just stopping by to ask if there has been or will be any development towards supporting animated GIFs? I just added a few tracks to my library that come with animated GIF covers and it would be amazing if they could be played on Music Bee.

Hello There,

I just would bring this topic up again and ask for if this feature could be implemented for MusicBee.

For some folks animated covers maybe sound strange and stupid.
Of course the cover only should be animated in the big cover display.

Just to get an idea of how it could look like ...

It will be great to see animated covers like Hot Chip's "Why Make Sense?" (https://www.last.fm/music/Hot+Chip/Why+Make+Sense%3F) album

Hello Steven,

above you already mentioned that an implementation of this feature should be "OK". This spreads some hope.
Are there any plans to implement this in near future?

With kind regards.

That was actually the reason I looked this up, lol. I'd like to see this added too.

And only 11 replies in those 11 years. Not exactly an overwhelming number of requests for this to happen.

I really think it would be a substantial add to the os if you could add video/gif support for song covers. It would be super cool! :D

IMHO the number of views on a thread is a good indication of interest on a specific topic as well.
Not everyone who likes to see a feature implemented also leaves a post, even if it would be desirable for active supporters.

Greetings.

Thank You for your request.

Greetings and thanks for any support :)

Is this wish identical to this one? :

If so they should probably be merged.
Also, Steven has already responded there that he was not unwilling to take a look at it.
Pushing it further with double postings is not desirable.

I guess over 4k views doesn't mean anything then. Also keep in mind many people don't even have an account on here.

+1 from me.

It likely means a search engine crawler visited this page 3988 times  :)
