Title: How can I display music library by folder
Post by: Newyouth on May 08, 2022, 11:41:39 AM
Hi every bud,

How can I display music library by folder?
I have a big music library now, all music in five folders is included in this music library. I want to try if I can display files in different folders on the top tab of the main interface.
Can you please teach me how to do it?

Thanks a lot!

I can't be sure about your setup, so just two assumptions here:

- The bulk of your library is tagged properly and you are satisfied with how everything is functioning and displaying in general.
- You have some folders that contain tracks that are still 'raw' and have not yet been tagged properly.

If that is the case, what would you like to have that tab displaying exactly?

The easiest way would be to create five different filters each with a rule to only display files in each of your five music folders:

File > Library > Manage Filters
Path starts with C:\MusicFolder1
Path starts with C:\MusicFolder2
etc.

To display each one in a separate tab, just middle click the Filter title in the Navigation Panel.

The Navigation Panel is usually on the left and shows the different parts of your Library and optionally the folders on your computer.
If you don't see that, select View > Arrange Panels... and add it to one of the available areas and configure it from there.

Sorry, maybe I probably didn't have a good articulation of the meaning.
Suppose, I currently have 5000 songs, which are located in five folders according to different song styles, such as classical, rock, pop, movie soundtrack, and world. The music library displayed in the current main interface will display all the songs in alphabetical order, which is very good, and I am very satisfied.
But I had some whims yesterday. I hope to be more customized. For example, I want to customize the display of the tabs in the picture below. Each tab displays the songs in the folder. In fact, these few Tabs are still using a unified music library.

Maybe it's possible to customize the displayed tabs?

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give it a try right now to see if it works for my requirements
