I made a translation for version 3.4 based on the latest version released 2019-10-24 from boroda (which I hope everything is fine and he will return to operation), translated all the lines of version 3.4, also fixed a few errors in the translation of boroda, changed and corrected a lot of lines in favor of reducing the menu and dialogs.
Steven At your discretion, you can use only the 3.4 translation lines or the entire corrected translation.
If someone finds errors or offers better ideas for translation, I am ready to make the appropriate changes.

Thanks. That is now incorporated into the next full release
-
Steven in the version you compiled, the newlines for 3.4 are displayed in English, in my non-compiled version everything is displayed correctly..
-
if you redownload the same link it should be included now
-
Fixed it! Thanks!
-
I updated the translation, quite a lot of changes, in favor of Lapidary style, but not at the expense of clarity, and also fixed many small errors and shortcomings.

I continued the translation and made quite a lot of changes, I think it turned out much clearer, more compact and generally unified, I also corrected a couple of my own mistakes).

I'm glad that everything is fine with you! Frankly speaking, I have already begun to think bad things because of your absence for so long.
could you upload it to mediafire or google/yandex drive?
Of course;

To be honest, I have made quite a lot of changes in your translation and I don't know how you will react to them, but in any case, the last word is yours, and even if you return everything to your 2019-10-24 version and translate only new lines, I will accept it.)

i've noted that you changed "воспроизести" to "играть". it was hard decision for me to choose best translation. first one is better, but much longer. have you changed *all* entries of "воспроизести"?
also, it seems that you have changed "список воспроизведения" to "очередь". am i right?
i just want my further translations to be consistent with current translations.
-
have you changed *all* entries of "воспроизести"?
Yup
it was hard decision for me to choose best translation. first one is better, but much longer.
Similarly, there are controversial decisions in my translation, but this is the most difficult, I thought for a long time, but still decided to translate everything in favor of maximum reduction ("Brevity is the soul of wit")

UPD:
Увидел на скрине...
Играть в конеце очереди

English translation via Google Translate...
Hello Sofocl and boroda!
I will write in Russian, because we are discussing Russian localization. )
In my opinion, using the translation of "Play" as "Play" is not entirely correct, in particular when using the term as a musical one.
In order to understand how the term works in translation, you need to imagine the situations in which it will be used on a global scale.
For example:
Play music - seems to fit
Play sound - no longer quite suitable, maybe then - Play sound - a little better
To play a song is not at all suitable, we use it - To play a song - completely incomprehensible associations arise.
And now substituting the term “Play” instead of the term “Play”, we see that everything fits perfectly, sounds, and no incomprehensible associations arise.
That is why the term "Play" is used quite rarely; The player does not fit at all)))
Now about the brevity.
Yes, in some cases you have to use a short translation, in cases where there is a limit to the number of characters in a line, or when a wide line does not fit on the screen. Earlier, when monitors had a resolution of 600x800 pixels, it made sense, but now, the resolution of monitors allows you not to worry about it.
So, I think we need to bring the term "Play" back into translation.
Just for the sake of this, and registered on the forum. )
UPD:
I saw on the screen ...
Play at the end of the line
-
Google translate of something you said:

Be aware that it's not the screen resolution that is the main constraint here.
There are MusicBee panels that have a layout where the available amount of characters is restricted.
There are also drop-down menu's and buttons that may be even more restricted.
I believe there are at least some 70 instances where 'play' is used in the English translation file.
You could evaluate every one of them to see how a longer description would turn out in actual use.
I am guessing while for some it might fit, for many it won't.

Previously in the localization from boroda, already used a long term "Воспроизвести", based on this, I believe there was no problem with the limitation of the text.
This can be seen in the attached screenshots earlier.

I do not know, but perhaps in some cases there are restrictions, in such cases will have to use the short term "Играть", but such cases will be few, and it is already out of despair.
If you don't know Russian, it will be difficult for you to understand the meaning of what I tried to explain in my previous post.
-

Yes, and no ;-)
I have identical problems and challenges with my translations.
There are many cases where I would have preferred more appropriate translations, but I have to accept that MusicBee's interface (same as all software) will sometimes restrict what you can do.
I replied mainly to explain that the exact same English word will sometimes need more than one translation, sometimes depending on context, sometimes depending on available space.
Personally I found that the only way to do this is to look at the actual result for each and every translated word, and where and how it shows up.

Thank you for your response.
I am familiar with the difficulties that arise in the localization of programs, as I am engaged in localization myself.
In this case, the translator who picked up the translation support, argued his changes, not because it's better, but because he wanted to shorten the lines of translation, although it was not necessary. I explained why it was wrong.

NedMaker я полностью разделяю ваши замечания и я долго думал над этим и все таки пока я считаю "Играть" более продуктивным и более... перспективным... хотя и безусловно менее точным, я также исходил из того что все строки получились полностью унифицированы, а "Воспроизвести" зачастую значительно увеличивала все меню сразу что плохо по многим причинам в том числе тем что привел hiccup.
(https://i.imgur.com/MoMTLoa.png) (https://i.imgur.com/VZHUKN5.png)
Исходил из того что человек не должен читать фразу целиком, а должен ухватывать ее смысл просто взглянув на нее, при этом такая фраза должна быть максимально короткой и вокруг нее не должно быть визуального мусора в виде "обильного" текста, ну например;
Воспроизвести исполнителя "Felix Mendelssohn"
или
Играть 'Felix Mendelssohn'

Thanks to hiccup, I added the missing line, and the next time I post a corrected version.

Felix Mendelssohn"
или
Играть 'Felix Mendelssohn'
Воспроизвести ->
UPD:
