It's almost done (90% complete, more or less)

I don't think I will have much time to complete until the next week end, so I provide a DL link in the meantime:

Hi,

I started from andrea's file and added the new fields to the translation file; I uploaded a first version here:

http://www.mediafire.com/?44m228zi86azl7v

Ciao,

Nuova versione del file Italiano.lng:

http://www.mediafire.com/?pwdzkrqec4roav6

Elenco modifiche:

Grazie,
Lore

Ciao,

Versione aggiornata su suggerimento di Steven:

http://www.mediafire.com/?d6w1xmbe81e5uhl

Elenco modifiche:

Andrea,

http://www.mediafire.com/?946b34klxyjlkj5

#Main.msg.abefopv#   aaaaaaaaaaaabcccccddddeeeeeeeeeeeefgghhiiiiiiiiiiilllllllmmmnnnnnnnoooooooooopppqrrrrrrsssssttttttuuuvv

Title: Re: Italian Translation

Andrea, maybe its not very important to take into account frequency of spaces. Actually you can do global width adjustment by repeating only one char as many times as required to make width of dialogs sufficient. But width of dialogs will depend upon width of only one repeating char in the font in that case. This is acceptable if every font that is used or may be used by MB (Windows allows to change fonts of dialogs and buttons) have the same relation between widths of same chars. Using actual letters frequency important only if you adjust interface scaling for one font and user changes used font to another, and 1st font have, for example, the same 'a'-width as 2nd font, but different 'w'-width than 2nd font.

Purtroppo non so bene come funzioni la stringa #Main.msg.abefopv#, quella che ho messo nel file me l'ha passata direttamente Steven.

Andrea,

Ciao!

Title: Re: Italian Translation
Post by: Lore on May 21, 2011, 03:12:33 PM
Andrea,

#Main.msg.Files0#   0 file

al posto di

#Main.msg.Files0#   Nessun file

per ottenere "0 file aggiornati".
L'alternativa è mettere

#Main.msg.0up#      {0} aggiornato/i

Che ne pensi? Io preferisco la prima soluzione.

---

#Main.msg.selected:#   selezionati:

Grazie,
Lore

Andrea,

I just found a minor issue:

#tTag.msg.0Ta# -> I'd put {0} Tag instead of {0} Tags (as the plural should not be used in Italian for english words)

I've no other change or fix to highlight, so in my opinion this translation may be shipped with the RC of MusicBee.

Hi be_wz, you can either download the compiled lngc version Steven uploaded or paste the text I posted to pastebin into a text editor and save the file as .lng, then put it in the localisation folder of MB.
Both ways work, but the compiled version should be more efficient

Hi everybody, after a long time I present you the new Italian translation for Musicbee!

It's not all my work, I'm simply updating the translation to the latest updates :)

Since is a WIP, I'll post updates asap, hoping to give you a complete one before 2016 XD

UPDATE: here the new link for the download, click on it to beredirected: Italiano.lng -  227 KB (https://tusfiles.net/ai8xrt5ek50v)

Just rename the Italian.lngc in the language folder and copy this one, then launch MusicBee and select the new file: relaunch and voilà! ;)

More refined versions will follow, stay tuned!

how do you process this?

You can open an .lng file with something like notepad++, edit it and then provide a download link so it may be integrated in a next MB release.
Be sure to check for newly added translatable content that you can find on the 'Latest Version' board.

Here you have the source file I am using and have kept updated myself:

http://bit.ly/mbtranslationsourcefile

Since it was updated many times since the beginning, note that it contains duplicate entries for many elements.
I have been trying to make it a habit of marking the obsolete (oldest) line of these duplicates by prepending them with an exclamation mark. So you don't need to waste time and effort on translating any line that starts with an exclamation mark.

It might well be that the file contains older entries that are now obsolete and not used in current versions of MusicBee anymore, so it would be a waste of time translating those.
But at the moment there is no way of telling if, and what lines are indeed obsolete.
For that purpose it would be good if Steven is able to provide a current and complete listing containing only all active elements.
If he provides you with such a list, please share it?

Hi, there's a typo on the Italian menu when you right-click the box for the artwork. "Scegli immagine", the translation of "Choose Picture", appears like this "Scegli mmagine" (the second word is missing the "i" at the beginning). Please can you fix this? Thank you.

I'm not able to review the Italian translation myself (my knowledge of Italian is too basic),
but I've prepared the way for any native Italian speaker willing to get involved in the job.

In practice, I have prepared an .lng file comprising for each caption:
- the original ENG text
- followed by the ITA translation on the next line.

Method used = a Perl script merging
- the latest baseline translation file (EN) from hiccup: here (https://rebrand.ly/MB_Baseline_translation_file)
- and the Italian .lng file provided by Roby in 2020: in this very thread, here (https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=3288.msg170991#msg170991))

The captions in the ouput file follow the order found in the baseline translation file.
All Italian captions present in the old .lng but absent from the baseline translation file have been removed (981 lines!). List available if needed.

EDIT:
the correction requested by Moloch981 (here (https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=3288.msg200367#msg200367)) is already applied in the file on GoogleDrive.

Very good Karbock, thank you. I'm taking a look at the file. I started to translate the parts highlighted with $$$. I will post the corrections soon.
