What picture are you trying to remove?
From where?
And how?

The picture in Track Information (did not know there were any other pictures).
Right click image>Remove does not do anything.

There are pictures in Albums view, Album & Tracks view, Now Playing view, and on and on.

Does this happen with all artwork, or just one album/track?
Is the picture embedded in the music file or saved as an image file within the folder where the album/track is?
Is the file read only?

UPDATE: For the first time, I got a confirmation asking if I want to "remove the clicked picture" (embedded).

Before today I was unable to remove any (embedded) artwork.

Your artwork is embedded, correct?
Are the files read-only?

Is the issue resolved?

Some artwork is embedded and some is in album folders.
I don't believe they are read-only.
The issue is unresolved. I just tried to remove an embedded file and nothing happened, so I believe this is only occuring with embedded files.

I don't believe they are read-only.
I suggest you check the files where you can't remove the artwork and determine if they are or are not read-only.
If they are read-only, you've got to clear that in order to remove the artwork.

Thanks but I don't know where the files are. They somehow became embedded with the audio file.

If you would just do a file name search with Window's own search function in File Explorer/Windows Explorer, you would know where your audio files are.  Then you could right-click them, check "Properties", and see if the "Read-Only" attributes box is checked.

Another possibility is that you have MB configured in Tags (2) preferences to download artwork but not save it, in which case there's nothing to remove (although you shouldn't see the remove command in that case). If you open the tag editor, does the artwork you're trying to remove show up under Artwork?

I know where my audio files are but neither they nor the image in at least that folder are read-only.

Tags (1) is set to embed picture in music file.

Are either Tags (1) and (2) the tag editor?

I'm talking about Tags (2) in Preferences, under Auto-Tagging: Artwork.

It is set to auto-retrieve missing artwork for the playing track but not set to save without prompt.

First, UNCHECK "Auto-retrieve missing artwork."  Then, from the menu on top of MusicBee, go to Tools->Advanced->Reset Artwork Cache.  After the reset, exit and then re-open MusicBee.  Do you still see the picture on the file in question?  My bet is the picture was neither embedded nor a file in the audio file's folder, but just what gets left in the cache after an autoretrieve-but-don't-save operation.  That cache has to be periodically cleared manually with the "Reset Artwork cache" command as it is not auto-deleted on exit.  The same thing happens in auto-retrieve lyrics without saving, although that cache folder is elsewere and has no menu command available to clear it (but see https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=29365.msg163645#msg163645 (https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=29365.msg163645#msg163645)).

Thanks. It's now playing tracks without artwork, but Search Internet for Picture is now working, whereas it was not before.
