Title: Is there any way to quickly convert tags to ID3v2.4
Post by: SpirosG on June 08, 2020, 05:07:21 PM
Hi,

Is there any way to quickly convert tags to ID3v2.4, for example through Tagging Tools or Advanced Tagging Tools?

If you have set MusicBee to use v2.4 all you need to do is re-save the files.

I don't see a quick way to do this within MusicBee, but with an external tagger it can be fast and easy.  For example, with Kid3, the method would be highlight all the files you want to change then from its menu drop Tools->Convert ID3v2.3 to ID3v2.4.  Save and done.  Afterwards, the files would need to be rescanned in MusicBee to pick up the change.

Edit:  Or, see hiccup's post above  :-[

If you edit one track yes.

But if you batch edit many files this doesn't work

I see that you're right about that.

A little trick to circumvent that:
Select all files, in Tag Editor select a tag field that you are not using and/or presently has no content, type anything there, and save.
Then all files will be converted to 2.4.
After that you can easily delete what you had entered in the unused field.

This works, but i hoped for something faster.

I wrote to Boroda to see if he can add this function to Additional Tagging Tools.
