Title: File name with a dot at the front
Post by: Famous Mortimer on April 08, 2020, 07:45:45 PM
I've just started with Musicbee, and I love it. It's everything I wanted from a music manager / player.

I've got a lot of files, and I'm spending the quarantine period finally sorting them all out, standardising the way I display the file names, all that. But I notice, some (not all) of the albums have, before them in the list, the same tracks, but just the file name, and they always have a full stop at the front of the file name. I can delete them, but on a full rescan of my files they come back. Any ideas? I assume it's files with a broken tag of some sort, but how is there an easy way of getting rid of them?

Welcome to MusicBee and the forum Famous Mortimer.
This is screaming for screenshots, or some explanation about how the full stops got there to begin with?

I've deleted them all now, but when I do a rescan I'll post a screenshot.

Also, if I knew how the full stops got there in the first place I wouldn't need to ask the question.

You are asking it here, but MusicBee will not create full stops in front of filenames by itself.
So you'll have to ask yourself how they got there in the first place.

Where are these files stored? On your main windows drive? An external drive? If you have a NAS with a Linux OS, for instance, that could be why. Dot files are common in Linux based systems, usually used to store configuration files or metadata.
