Title: Change color/boldness of synced lyrics

Specifically I find that synced lyrics are too hard to read and would like to lessen to contrast between the highlighted portion and the rest of the lyrics. Interface (1) option doesn't seem to address this.

Related question - you can pop out the lyrics as a floating window, however if you minimize main musicbee window, it too goes with it. Is it possible to set it up as a floating window while working on other stuff?

You can change the font and color of the song text to your liking in the settings:

You misunderstood me, I'm refering to the portion in red here.

Yes you can change details of the portion in bold.
I want to increase the contrast with the REST of the lyrics so they too are easier to read.  I can't find a setting for that.

There's no setting for that. You'd have to modify the skin that you're using. If you're interested, search the Developer's sub-forum in the skins section. Lots of good, helpful information there.
