Title: Rainmeter Plugin
Post by: WiR3D on March 21, 2011, 01:18:09 PM
Firstly i love MusicBee :) best player out there

Rainmeter is a free opensource widget type thing, thats a million times better then any windows destop gadget.
It does everything from RSS feeds, application shorcuts, mini-media player, weather... etc.
and its skinnable.

And creating plugins for it is reletively simple.
(from what i can see.)

I would love it if Rainmeter had a musicBee plugin for its music player. (Im currently using the ABP skin)

Excellent  :) When it's done,  please open a separate topic for it in the Customisations/ Plugins section on the forum.
It would be easier to find that way.

With what skin did you try? You need to make sure that:
- Player=MusicBee (in the skin file)
- 'cd art display' plugin is enabled in MusicBee
- You have the latest beta version of MusicBee

I've just got this working with Soita skin - http://poiru.deviantart.com/art/Soita-for-Rainmeter-209864541

I had to change all the PlayerName entries to PlayerName=CAD though (rather than [mplayer] or whatever), it wasn't working by just changing the variable at the top of the script edit page.

I have tried everything, but can't get it to work with latest MB and Rainmeter installed. Also tried the trick with Soita skin and changed all player names to CAD, but it whether results in "Invalid Player" or simply nothing is happening. CD art plugin is activated in MB. Anybody has an idea to get MB working with the rainmeter now playing.dll?

Joergermeister, you might also try the rainmeter forum if no one here is able to help

Did you try exiting both programs and restarting them? I can't think of anything else to be honest, I usually just right click and refresh on the skin and it works (if it isn't already).

Unless you missed one of the entries in the .ini?

Here's my ini if that helps - http://www.mediafire.com/?51myoy0qiyix9v6

Just to check, you are using the latest rainmeter?

Hello Steven, hello beeing good,
thanks for the rainmeter skin ini.file and your help. Yes, I'm using the absolute latest MB and Rainmeter beta versions. Unfortunately that does not do the trick. In the meanhwile I figured that my MB even does not load up CD Art Dsiplay anymore, allthough it used to do this, before I decided to skip CDA some months ago.
Anyhow, I assume this is a MB problem, since I've justed tested this on a Windows 7 computer, where there only was Rainmeter installed. So I installed MB freshly there and it it worked like a charme from the getgo.  :)
Got back to my computer, de-installed MB as well as all settings in C:\Users\Userx\Music\MusicBee and C:\Users\Userx\AppData\Roaming\MusicBee
and re-installed MB so I thought I'm nearly on a fresh install, but neither Rainmeter, nor CD Art Display are working.  I guess there must be some more registry settings e.t.c. which can cause the problem, but I'll give up at this stage because it is getting deep and ugly now and I do not expect anyone to follow and help, since it really might be an install/update error on my machine here. MB is the best Music Player around, no matter what.
Thank you!

let me know if you are willing to try out a debug version. I will need to contact the rainmaker dev as well though

Strangely, mine seems to have stopped working now as well. I will have to have a play around/reboot to check.

Mine's working great.

I have the latest MB with CAD plugin enabled, latest RM and this skin : http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=&section=&q=leij#/d3r7vqn

The skin is set as "CAD" for the player.

keep a copy of your current musicbee.exe file
replace musicbee.exe with this one and then run MB as normal with CAD enabled
then go to help/ support/ view error log and i need the last set of entries dated around the time you run this test
