Title: Add option "queue selected tracks/albums shuffled" in selection context menus
Post by: therob on October 28, 2019, 12:27:29 AM
I would find the option "queue selected tracks/albums shuffled" very helpful to add to all context menus after selecting tracks/albums/entries.

Behaviour in detail:
1. Select all tracks/albums in music bee you which (most important for me within the album view)
2. Right Click on selection
3. new entry "queue selected tracks/albums shuffled"
4. all selected tracks/albums are queued at the end of the current playlist: as a block but with a random sorting within the whole selction but let the current playlist untouched apart from that.
5. Same behaviour for "AutoDJ" and "Normal" mode (and why not also in "Shuffle" mode? Wouldn't heart)
6. should also work for a selection within the playlist itself (although for playlist I would prefer: select tracks within playlist --> right click -->choose "shuffle selected tracks" --> all selected tracks are just shuffled within current playlist, while keeping the position of the selected block of tracks.)

What do you think?

Cheers, Robert

Coming in after the original discussion, and I can see why some people might find this useful, but the implementation as requested makes a lot of assumptions.

* Queued tracks don't necessarily get added to the end of the current playlist. It might need adding  "Queue next (shuffled)" and "Queue last (shuffled)" commands.
* If you have albums selected, does that mean all of the tracks from those albums are shuffled, or do the albums get added in a random order but still play in track order?
* Re #6: What happens if you try to shuffle tracks that aren't in a contiguous selection (i.e. selected with Ctrl+click)?

Agreed. If it is more welcome, than only one option of both would be enough (at least for my purpose).

For my purpose: All tracks of all selected albums should be added shuffled (without keeping order of albums or track order within it).

* Re #6: What happens if you try to shuffle tracks that aren't in a contiguous selection (i.e. selected with Ctrl+click)?
Good questions. Two solutions:
* only show this new option, if one indeed selected only contiguous tracks (my favorite)
* keep position of all selected tracks, just shuffle them within these positions (could be more difficult to implement)

Do you see any chance it will come in near future?

The only person who can answer that is the developer, Steven. And it depends on many factors, some of which are:
     - how easy it is to implement
     - how many people are supporting this idea (i.e. giving it a +1)
