Hi -
I've been chipping away at this for a couple of hours and finally need to surrender and ask for help.
Due to an unrelated problem with a Windows 10 update, the OS on my laptop had to be reinstalled from scratch, so I'm in the process of reinstalling all programs. I installed MB this evening* and have not been able to get MB to recognize my Pioneer XDP-100R under "Computer". I've used MB and the XDP together since I bought it in 2016, so I know it works. (Except now it doesn't.)
What I can do:
-See the device in File Manager
-Play music from the SD card in the device in MB. (By right clicking in File Mgr and selecting Play.)
What I have done:
-Rebooted the computer multiple times.
-Restarted the device.
-Opened and closed MB multiple times.
-Made sure MTP is checked on the device. (Android OS)
MB 3.3.7115
Windows 10.0.18362 Build 18362
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

New info:
When the device is plugged in, if I *UNCHECK* MTP, a couple of things happen.
1) It immediately appears in Musicbee. However, MB doesn't see any music or podcasts. (There are 10k songs and a couple dozen podcasts on the unit's SD card.)
2) In File Explorer, the unit changes from XDP-100 with visibility/access to both internal storage and the SD card (where all music is stored) to "MTP USB Device" with visibility of the internal storage only. No view or access to the music/podcasts.
If I check/uncheck the MTP box, the view changes back and forth in MB and File Explorer.
Really could use some ideas here. Everything else has reinstalled without problems, but this is just not working yet.

-Started MB
-Plugged in the device. (MTP was unchecked)
-Changed MTP to Checked on the device

I suggest you either do a Sync or a Preview just to make sure the issue isnt pushed further along from device initialisation

OK, some progress here. After applying the files....
- With MTP checked, the device shows up.
- The subdirectories are: Audiobooks, Music, Podcasts...then SD Card 1, Storage, Video
However:
- No contents are shown under Music or Podcasts. (I never had any Audiobooks.)
- The SD Card 1 shows no content. (This is where 10k+ songs and the podcasts are.)
- The Storage twisty opens to show subdirectories, but...
*No content under Podcasts.
*No content under Playlists
*Under Music, the artist name is there. The subdirectories for albums is there. When you select
the album, it shows "No Tracks".
*Note: I looked via Explorer and the * items above match what shows up in Explorer on the
Internal drive.
- Video show no content. (I don't use the device for Video.)

I don't see any difference from the previous version.
I did just notice that when I select the player, to the right of the Synchronise Music check box (under the preview button), it shows "10,684 files, 30d 4:18, 94.5 GB" I'm not sure if it's reading that from the player or the source.

That looks as expected. If you just do a sync preview or click on the device Music node, to the results look as expected ie. is it only once you have started the sync that things do wrong?

Just to clarify, I have not attempted a sync. Originally, you'll recall I couldn't get it to recognize the device at all.
Since you made the changes this morning and MB is "seeing" the device, I've been gunshy about attempting a sync for fear I'll wipe out what's on the device. At least at the moment, I can play what's there and wanted to avoid having nothing until it's figured out.
BTW, I did a reboot and opened MB. This showed up in the log, if it's meaningful:

so it looks like the internal storage is fine but the issue is with the sd card. Can you access the sd card from windows explorer?

All along, yes.
I just went back and confirmed, I can access and play (in MB) both music and podcasts via Explorer.

At this point i dont think i can help further but if i do think of more things to try i will post on this topic.
Someone else with a similar problem is able to use v3.2 so you could try that version - you can get the download links from the first forum topic

Damn. Frustrating since it's worked flawlessly for several years. I haven't been in the forum since it just worked.
Do you have an opinion on whether this is related to the Win 10 update (1903) that could clear up with the next update from Microsoft? Or from what you see is it an issue between MB and the device? Just trying to figure out what I might watch for.
I'll look for the 3.2 version and will give it a shot. I'll post results here either way.

Do I need to uninstall MB before I run the 3.2 executable? I went back to the version thread, downloaded 3.2 and ran it, but when I open the program it shows version 3.3.7161.

Yes, you need to uninstall the current version, since the installer will automatically skip files it finds newer and etc.
What I would suggest also, is backup your current settings of MusicBee, this way when you install v3.2 you can then load those older settings, this way you don't have to start from scratch setting up music bee and your playlists and etc.
To save settings: Edit > Saved Settings > [Save] Settings Snapshot
To load settings: Edit > Saved Settings > [Load] Settings Snapshot

Uninstalled MB.
Reinstalled MB v3.2 from the last link in that version post.
Applied the settings.
I'm back to no visibility of the device at all. I've rebooted the unit, turned MTP on/off/on. Nothing. Comes up immediately in File Explorer with full access to the files and the ability to play music/podcasts in MB.
Unfortunately, it looks like I'm going to have to switch software. Sorry to have to go.

Last second success!!
I happened to look in on a recent similar Forum post regarding a Galaxy phone that wasn't showing up. The "try version 3.2" was suggested there, as well. There was also a note from Steven that MTP had to be enabled manually in that version. I did that and suddenly everything was back to normal. The Pioneer DAP shows up as a Portable Device. The SD card is accessible and I can see the music and podcast.
I just started a sync. It appears to be resynching everything, so this will take a while. Hopefully, I won't end up with duplicates, but we'll see.
Steven- Wouldn't this seem to indicate that the issue is with the 3.3 version of MB and not an issue with the Win 10 1903 update? (Not that you said it was, that was my default "blame Microsoft" position.)

the usage of the MTP API has been updated in v3.3+ to make synching a faster. For reasons unknown, its not working for a few devices (only 2 people have reported issues).
As I cant reproduce this issue myself its not easily solved, and unless many more people report this issue and someone is willing to spend time helping me debug the issue, then it will likely remain unsolved

Final steps and results for anyone that goes through this in the future....
The "full sync" that I referenced in the last post was due to the fact that the device sync path had defaulted back to "Internal Storage". I had assumed that since I applied the Settings that I had saved that would have remained as "SD Card 1", but it didn't. (Steven- Path should maybe be part of what is saved with settings??) As a result, it was syncing a second copy of the music to Internal Storage until it maxed out, then started failing the songs. I ended up having to delete everything from Internal Storage, change the path back to SD Card 1 and re-synced last night.
I did a random review and test this morning, and it appears everything is back to 100%.
Steven - I'm happy to work through any additional debug with you, if you want to invest the time on your end. To start with I have created 2 debug versions - one for v3.2 and one for v3.3 in order to compare the initialisation.
If you havent already done so, I suggest you install v3.3 using the portable installer so its separate from v3.2
All you need to do is start MusicBee, wait a minute and then send me the new info at the end of error log in both cases - let me know which log is for v3.2 and which is v3.3

One other little quirk I'm trying to figure out....
When using v3.2 (the one that "works" and that was functioning fine originally), when viewing the library, I'm not seeing what I expect on the device. The directory tree looks like this:
Portable Device
-Music
-Podcasts
-Audiobooks
-Video
+Internal Storage
+Storage
When I click on Music or Podcasts, I'm not seeing any content. (I did previously.) I can see everything if I open the twisty for Internal Storage. Did I miss a setting somewhere? Any other ideas how I can get those files identified under their categories?

It should have been. I unplugged the device and plugged it in again, then completed the process over. I opened the device in File Explorer and can see the SD contents, so it should be OK. If it shows up here but not before, maybe the cable wasn't seated properly.

On a hunch, I went in to look at Device Settings. It shows the default \Internal Storage location. Do I need to manually change that or should MB be "seeing" it as an option?

Serious progress here. You're the best.
The SD card is visible and I can see the music and podcasts under the SD Card 1 twisty.
I am getting a little weirdness between the view of 3.2 and 3.3.
-3.2 shows the device as "Portable Device". 3.3 shows it as "XDP-100R" (the model #). Not an issue, just letting you know.
-The way the contents show is a different issue.
*3.2 shows Music, Podcasts, Audiobooks, Video; then it shows the Playlists in alpha order, then Internal Storage, then Storage. This is what I'm used to.
*3.3 shows all the above, but in strict alpha order. So, the contents start with Audiobooks, then goes to two playlists that start with "B", then to Internal Storage, then to a playlist that starts with "J", etc. continuing in alpha order. Not as organized as the previous.
-Also, in 3.2 when I click on Music under the Portable Device, it rescans all 10k+ songs before it displays the list. (Takes a while.) Do I have a setting that needs to change? I'm sure it didn't work that way before my PC problems started and I had to reinstall.
-Last for the moment... MB 3.3 is not finding my Podcasts. (Under the main Library menu, not under the device.) I've looked through Settings and can't find where to point it to the correct folder. (I keep my music files on an external drive and my podcasts on the laptop.) Can you send me to the right place?

unzip and replace the musicbee v3.3 application files
because you are using a portable install for v3.3, it wont have the podcasts cached unless you resync.
But if you update v3.2 instead, the podcasts should show.

Great!
- Fixed the sequence in the view of the device.
- Clicking on Music in device still takes a couple of minutes to populate, but it's way quicker than my current 3.2.
- Podcasts not showing up....makes sense. Thx.
- Nothing in the Error Log. (Yeah!)
Other:
- No album covers are showing up. I'll assume that's because I haven't synced yet as well, unless I hear differently.
I think I'm ready to try a sync with 3.3. I may not be able to do that until tomorrow, but I'll update here when it's complete. You might have this beast under control.

Updated Sync Results:
- This went really well. Sync'd overnight and there were no problems or error messages. No error log for today.
- The song count on 3.2 was 10,669. Same on the 3.3 sync.
- I've spot checked the player and all looks good so far. Everything looks like it's there, playlists look good, no duplicates noted at this point.
Questions-
- I'm showing no podcasts. I pointed the device to the location on C: where the downloaded podcasts reside. (via the Library/Podcasts/Reorganize tool) It's likely I'm misunderstanding how podcasts are handled. Do I need to set each of those up again in 3.3 and let them download again? (If yes, should I delete those that exist via File Explorer first?) I'll note that at this point they are still on the device from the 3.2 sync and still in their C: location. I guess the podcast setup was not part of Settings when I copied those over.
- I'll mention that the problem with the 25-30 "failed" songs that I couldn't get rid of in 3.2 has disappeared, at least with the first sync.
- I'm feeling good about moving to 3.3. A question on making the change.
* I now have 3.2 installed on my C: drive while I was working through the testing with you on 3.3. The 3.3 version is on my external drive. What process should I use to remove 3.2 and relocate 3.3 to my C:? I'm not sure if I can "move" it, if I should uninstall 3.2 then reinstall 3.3 from scratch, if I reinstall, is the version now on the site "my" version or do I install the standard then apply your mods to that? You get the idea, just point me in the right direction.
- Last, just an FYI that this error log appears from yesterday. In case it's meaningful to you....
