Hi everyone, i'm very happy to use musicbee against iTunes but i just have a big problem:
most of my artworks have been auto-tagged when i've scaned all my datas with the same artwork.
And when I delete the wrong artwork, scan all my files again, the wrong artwork is coming back and auto-tag my file!!!!
It's very strange because when i'm reading a file with vlc or windows media player, the artwork is good...so it's a big bug from musicbee i don't understand why it's doing it!!
I'm going to mix in a camping all the summer and i really need my artwork to find music!! Can you help me pleaaaaaaaaaaaase???
you can download a screenshot at this page : https://www.grosfichiers.com/pBf3jhtT8vR or another picture:https://www.grosfichiers.com/TSRkxNhRH97
Thank you and sorry for my bad English!!

Go to Preferences> Tags (1)> Artwork Storage> Edit List,
Then adjust the settings for what files to look in what order for artwork display,
When it's done, click on "Rescan Artwork" button to update what's displayed.

After fixing it, let us know how you changed the settings to display artwork for your albums properly.

@Steven;
I just checked the default settings for artwork retrieval with 3.3. Is there any reason why embedded is placed at the last? Also I don't think artwork.*, filename.* are commonly used.
-
man you just have to save my life, it's working!!
I've just have checked "incorporated", i put it at the top of the list and it's working when i see all albums etc... but when i'm reading a file's tag, the artwork is still here but under the real artwork, so like hidden: i have like 2 artworks now for these files, it's better than before. Thanks a lot :) :) :)
Do you know how to delete theses artworks put by musicbee?
I don't how that's happen... very strange!

it can be reconsidered for v3.4 but my feeling with artwork in general is you cant win for most users no matter what is done eg. putting embedded at the top means you will get someone who users folder artwork complaining about incorrect artwork because they dont realise some files have embedded artwork
-

As I said, only tick artwork types you are going to use in the settings, and click on "Rescan Artwork" button.
-
i've done it but on the software, when i see all artworks, it's ok but when i'm editing the file, i have 2 artworks: my artwork put by myself and still the other artwork put by musicbee, like musicbee has modified many of my artworks/file itself, like a bug
-

Yes, but still people using embedded will be the largest. Probably folder.jpg will be the next, followed by Cover. The rest will be used by not many people and probably these people will find the settings themselves. I hope you consider changing the default settings for 3.3.
-
Did you enable auto-tag option for artwork in Preferences> Tags (2)?
-
I agree that embedded should be first. Fewer people will have embedded artwork that doesn't match their files than vice versa.
Maybe there should also be some kind of artwork dialogue on first installation?
-
in tag2, auto-tag is disable...that's why it's strange!! and when i delete wrong artworks manually and i scan all files, they are coming back into the file!! ^^

Are all the options except embedded completely unticked in the list of where to get artwork?
It might help if you post a screenshot of your tags (1) preferences.
-
Select one album, go to Tools> Artwork> Album Artwork Manager, and check what type of artwork they use.
-
Yes only incorporated is selected

(it's in French sorry)
-
when i go to Tools> Artwork> Album Artwork Manager -> "does not match storage preferences" many of my artworks are double or changed with the wrong artwork, but in my musicbee steeing, i thing that have disabled all internet auto-tag! All my incorporated cover are good but covers are like added by musicbee

-
It won't be MusicBee if your settings are correct. I think it's another program that added the artwork.
when i delete wrong artworks manually and i scan all files, they are coming back into the file!! ^^
That may indicate you're still running the program and it keeps adding them when you delete.

One thing I don't understand is why the manager is showing Cover.jpg when you only ticked embedded. It shouldn't show any other types of artwork. Did you run "Rescan Artwork"?
-
i've tried to delete some, close musicbee, restart it and scan everything again and it's still coming back again! What kind of other program can to this? Is it a virus or something like this?
Thanks for all you replies, it's very nice of you guys :)
For me showing cover is fine and working don't worry, thank you :) , i'm just trying to understand and delete all these covers added i don't know how because files have saved two covers even if i don't see it on musicbee
-
I am referring to this red button:
If you have selected only embedded and run the command, artwork manager/tag editor/main panel should show only embedded artwork.
-
@Steven;
Minor bug. See the screenshot above. *.* changes to another Cover.* when it's not selected.
-
I've done it @redwing, but the picture is still here that's the problem ^^
here is the screenshot of everything: https://www.grosfichiers.com/YXri9qbyEZR
-
If you select the album> right click> Send to> File Rescan, does it make any differences?
-
nothing changed... :( the cover is still here
I delete it and i do tools->advanced->rescan all files and the cover comes back...
That's why, is it coming from musicbee or another software wich put it back it after i deleted it?
-
I don't understand. No matter where it comes from, it shouldn't show any artwork other than embedded.
Can you download the latest 3.3 portable version and try a quick test with one album to see if you can replicate the issue?

sorry for the wait, i had to download framework 4.7.2 and my computer is not so fast....
I've done it and rescan all the covers and it's the same thing..
And i've tried to replace a file with the wrong cover with the exact back-up file (the file saved before) and the bug is still here
(my avast software was warning me that musicbee.exe is a suspected file but everything's fine after few minutes^^)
-
(my avast software was warning me that musicbee.exe is a suspected file but everything's fine after few minutes^^)
This would worry me.. Before you try anything else, go into your Avast (infamous for interfering with MusicBee!) settings and WHITELIST the entire MusicBee folder(s)/files.
-
even if it said that it was ok few minutes later? everything's fined installed at the end too late ;D
(because it didn't like the main file musicbee 3.3 downloaded)
-
Yes, that's possible.
Can you restart MusicBee and run the command again with your Avast temporarily disabled?
-
ok everything done... i've rescan all the covers and the same thing happen...you want check with a teamview or something like this?
-
Then can you locate the Cover.jpg file from one album? And see if it's actually present in the folder and what happens if you delete it with Windows Explorer.
-
I don't know where this from... I just have one file when i'm reading the music with VLC or windows media player and when i click on the music in windows explorer, just the embedded cover appear.
Only on musicbee app it appears!
This wrong picture is coming from another cover of another music file
-
Are you currently running 3.3 portable version?
-
yes the 3.3.7109
-
Then close MusicBee, go to MusicBee\AppData\InternalCache\AlbumCovers and delete all files in there.
Start MusicBee and run Rescan Artwork again with only embedded selected.
-
Same same as before..and nothing weard with the new pictures created by musicbee on windows explorer when it open
-
You know what? I can replicate the issue myself.
@Steven;
Rescan Artwork does not clear previously linked artwork from tag editor/artwork manager.
-
the new pictures created by musicbee
Is it a new picture MusicBee added from another album or is the one shown with your previous artwork retrieval settings?
-
what do you mean about "previous artwork retrieval settings"?
sorry for my English.. :(
-
When you installed MusicBee and scan your music files first time, what types of artwork were selected in the settings?
-
I don't do it like this, i just add my previous collection that i saved before and so it recognize all the files with the playlists, the date of added files (very important for me to find music sometimes), etc... (well program created by the way ;) )
-
This wrong picture is coming from another cover of another music file
Do you see any connection between the two different files?
I can replicate the Rescan Artwork command issue, but still don't know how you got the wrong cover.
-
hummmmmmmm maybe i find something i explain:
the copied cover is coming from a Joe Dassin music call "Et si tu n'existais pas.mp3" place in a global mixed music file and so in the same Windows file of many many many wrong music files (i don't know if it's all i'm checking)...so maybe it's linked! :D
(i warmed you, maybe my internet connection will shut down, storm is coming ahahah ::) )
-
Are you saying they are in the same folder?
-
i'm quite sure it's linked: the music files in the same windows folder are with the wrong cover file!!
-
OK. Thanks for all your help! Hope you will have a great camping!
-
why?? you know why all this happens?
-
If what we have seen is indeed a bug, Steven will fix the issue and release a new patch.
See if rescanning artwork with the new patch will address your issue.
@Steven;
After scanning artwork with embedded plus cover.*, remove cover.* from the retrieval settings and rescan artwork.
Then it still shows cover.* artwork from Tag Editor/Artwork Manager.
-
ok perfect, i'll check it thank you for everything guy you're lovely to help me :) :) enjoy and continue like this, the software is awesome!!! fuck Itunes ;) ;) ;) will musicbee download the patch with the new update like the 3.4 version or something like this even if i have the 3.3 or should i downgrade?
-
You have the latest 3.3.7109 version. Any patch Steven will release next time will be a higher version and only need to overwrite existing files with them to update.
-
perfect thank you a lot guy, you're making great work :) :) have a nice day or night...i don't know where you guy from... (?)
-
Steven said it's not a bug but intended:
https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=28934.msg161240#msg161240
-
Thanks guy so cool :) :) i'll chek this later ;)
-
Hi guys :) , so if i've understood the issue, "folder.jpg" or "cover.jpg" are linked to theses wrong covers in my library? But where can i find it? If i deleted it, does it delete the wrong cover links, even after re-scanning it?
