Title: Mpc, Ogg, Opus, Tak and WavPack Encoder Pack
Post by: Steven on June 08, 2019, 06:52:44 PM
I am removing the following encoders from the MusicBee release itself in order to reduce the file size
- MPC
- Ogg
- Opus
- Tak
- WavPack

For convenience they can be downloaded here:
https://getmusicbee.com/download/plugins/EncoderPack.zip (https://getmusicbee.com/download/plugins/EncoderPack.zip)

The files need to be installed in the Codec sub-folder where MusicBee is installed

I just tried v3.3 RC3 and noticed all these encoders are removed (along with fpcalc.exe file).
How do you expect people will find this and fpcalc threads?
It could be more convenient if the links to these threads are added to https://getmusicbee.com/help/faq/
and the popup window shows the link.

I think the sort of people who would care about those encoders will be capable of getting the appropriate exe themselves.
For fpalc, there is a information dialog displayed when the identify track function is used.

But that is a good suggestion and I will look to update the faq

I would also suggest a good idea would be including a simple readme.txt file in the installation packages that would mention this and point people to the FAQ. might save a lot of the usual "what happened to so-and-so" questions.

A changelog attached to each new version of MB would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Where do we put these files if we have the Windows 10 store version? I found a folder where some MusicBee stuff is located like plugins and .dat files but couldn't find the Codec subfolder.

They are already included in the store version

I see the opusenc is still from 2017. There has been a lot of progress with newer versions making it even better.

opus and wavpack encoders have been updated

Hello Steven!
First of all, thanks for the software, it's easily the best music player I've ever encountered.
I am a big fan of technology and music encoders specifically, so I pay a lot of attention to opus.
I noticed opus is outdated for at least 2 major versions, because since your last update, opus 1.4 and 1.5.1 were released with many bugfixes and new features.
For your convenience, here is opus 1.5.1 already compiled (https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,125597.0.html) by HydrogenAudio member "NetRanger", Opus-tools v0.2-34-g98f3ddc (using libopus 1.5.1), Built on March 04, 2024, GCC 13.2.0, or you can compile it yourself if you prefer.
