After reading about how to get 2 way synchronization to finally work (by making sure the Playlist path was not in the Music path), I completely re-synched my micro-SD card, and now music is synching the entire folder path to my card.
For example, My SD card is F:/. Previously all my music would be F:/Artist1, F:/Artist2 etc. Now, my SD Card looks like this:
F:/Music/Users/Joe/Desktop/Joe Music/Artist1
Is there a way to to have the previous layout still preserved?
-
It's up to your sync settings: storage folder setting & music files template. You might have "preserve folders and filenames" option ticked this time.
-
You are right, I do, but I also had that ticked before. The other option is to generate a new folder structure using tags which I do not want.
-
I had an issue similar to this recently, but haven't been able to follow up on Steven's request for more info yet. Here is his comment, if you want to see if any of it applies to your situation:

Can you post a screenshot of your sync settings?

Here are the current settings.

Are you also using auto-organize with your library?

This does not seem related to my issue.

I am not.

What version of MB did you run when you got that result?
-
Another possibility is that the songs you synced this time had completely different folder structure while your previously synced songs shared the same path just before artist name folder.

The before and after are from the exact same folder. The music folder is in the same position it has always been.
-
I just tried 3.2.6827 and it only preserved the last 2 parent folders like the bug report thread says. I think that version was released before Steven made the change.
-
Interesting, as my child folder structures are all intact within the music folder on my device, and some go several folders deep.
-
You're right. I had only checked the preview screen before but that version seems to have a display bug for the preview screen as it only showed the last two parent folders. Actually running it copies several folders deep.
So is it what's making the differences for you whether you're running that version or the current 3.3 version?
-
I have not run the 3.3 version at all yet. All things are teh same (version, original copy location, etc), the only thing that changed was setting the Music directory from just "\" to "\Music\" in order to prevent the Playlist folder from being a subfolder of where the Music is. The purpose of changing that was to get the file deletion part of the sync to work.
-
I don't think I can help you any further. What I can suggest is you can install a portable 3.3 version with latest patch applied, try what you did with this version and if you find anything unusual, file a bug report and talk to Steven.
-
I am moving to the latest version and attempting sync.
