Title: Is it possible to mass change playlist file location?
Post by: someone01 on April 11, 2019, 09:39:58 PM
I have many playlists.

Some with almost 5000 songs.

But they are in different HDDs, is it possible to mass change the source of the playlist location?

For example:

Playlist 1 is:

Code
C:\Music\rock\album1\song1.mp3
C:\Music\rock\album1\song2.mp3
C:\Music\rock\album1\song3.mp3
C:\Music\rock\album2\song1.mp3
C:\Music\rock\album2\song2.mp3
C:\Music\rock\album2\song3.mp3
...
C:\Music\rock\album212\song20.mp3

Playlist 2 is:

Code
F:\Music\punk\album1\song1.mp3
F:\MyMusic\punk\album1\song2.mp3
F:\MyMusic\punk\album1\song3.mp3
F:\MyMusic\punk\album2\song1.mp3
F:\MyMusic\punk\album2\song2.mp3
F:\MyMusic\punk\album2\song3.mp3
...
F:\Music\rock\album212\song20.mp3

Make it so it will be:

Playlist 1 is:

Code
H:\Music\rock\album1\song1.mp3
H:\Music\rock\album1\song2.mp3
H:\Music\rock\album1\song3.mp3
H:\Music\rock\album2\song1.mp3
H:\Music\rock\album2\song2.mp3
H:\Music\rock\album2\song3.mp3
...
H:\Music\rock\album212\song20.mp3

Playlist 2 is:

Code
H:\Music\punk\album1\song1.mp3
H:\MyMusic\punk\album1\song2.mp3
H:\MyMusic\punk\album1\song3.mp3
H:\MyMusic\punk\album2\song1.mp3
H:\MyMusic\punk\album2\song2.mp3
H:\MyMusic\punk\album2\song3.mp3
...
H:\Music\rock\album212\song20.mp3

The source was mass change from disk C: and disk F: to disk H:, i want to unify all my playlist songs in 1 disk, but manually remake the playlist would take many many hours.

I can't just move the folders, the musicbee playlists file will search the files in C: and F: for the songs, giving an error when they are not there.

Have you seen this:
File/Library/Relink Music File Paths

I actually just tried it myself, so it must work for you too... ;-)

So:
- you move all your music to H (more or less keeping the same folder structures - the more you change that, the more work it will be)
- create a Library for all your music on H
- copy your playlists to the MB Library on H (or have you made them there?  that would be even easier)
- (you can check now:  if you open a playlist, C and F files will have kind of warning 'file is missing' - I guess this is what you've noticed yourself already, so you must have done what I mention before - sorry for the redundancy)
- relink the music file paths
- solved... :-D  (or I have misunderstood your problem)

Oh my God, you are a freaking star for posting that. You've saved me hours of manually going through and relinking files!
