Title: Libre.fm plugin
Post by: terle on February 07, 2011, 03:42:00 PM
I would really like the option to scrobble to Libre.fm instead of last.fm (http://libre.fm/)

It seems to me that Libre.fm is more open, beautiful and better than last.fm, and thus would make a better pair with MB  ;D

Thank you for MusicBee

I'd like to have both Last.fm and Libre.fm supported in MB, but of course Libre.fm seems to be much better choice for the future.

Sorry to reply on an old topic like this, but
I would really like to see this option too!

I know this is old, but I'd also like to add my voice to it. Last.fm is getting increasingly flaky, with server outages now occurring regularly.

I really would love to have a plugin like this too. If I knew how to develop something like this, i'd make it myself. But i really don't know how to do it.

I read somewhere that libre uses the same API as last.fm.
So does this mean it's as simple as changing the url/ipaddress it scrobbles to?

Here's a list of how to configure clients for libre.fm, maybe it helps:
http://bugs.foocorp.net/projects/librefm/wiki/Clients

These are the libre URLS i guess:
Change the 'extensions.lastfm.api_url' pref to 'http://alpha.libre.fm/'
Change the 'extensions.lastfm.auth_url' pref to 'http://turtle.libre.fm/'
http://turtle.libre.fm

By the way, how can i learn to make a plugin. Do i need to have C++ knowledge or something? (I don't by the way  :()

+1 for a plugin. I think of changing from Last.fm to Libre.fm for some time but sadly it's not as supported as Last.fm :-S

I had no idea this site existed until I read this thread. I would definitely love to use both websites within MusicBee.

Sorry to continue bumping, but elaborating on the links nikkel posted, I found this:
http://bugs.foocorp.net/projects/librefm/wiki/Using_turtle#Step-Two

I have no idea where to find our last.fm hosts file, but it appears if it were changed to libre.fm's IP, then it would work for Libre.
Then again, musicbee is pretty integrated with last.fm (as far as I can tell) so maybe it's more complicated.

Sorry, have to bump again.
Is there no one who is able to make a plugin for libre.fm?

I'll add my voice to this.
Libre.fm scrobbling would be great.  :)

By the way...
If you want to download all your scrobbles from Last.fm and upload them to Libre.fm, LastScrape GUI (https://encukou.github.io/lastscrape-gui/) works really well.

Once that is done, you can go to your Libre.fm profile and click on Edit > Connections to other services > Connect to a Last.fm account. Your scrobbles will then be forwarded.

One other thing. Some time ago when Last.fm updated their website, they removed RSS Feeds. I found RSS Feeds to be very handy, especially when using Firefox as I add it to me Live Bookmarks and can quickly see what I have been playing recently. You can still use RSS Feeds by reading xiffy's Last.fm RSS Feeds Blog (http://xiffy.nl/blog/lastfm-rss-feeds).

So, can we get the source for the Last.fm plugin.
