You did it in a very nice way  :) Thank you for your work. I like the new skin, interesting mix of colours  :)
However, I'd choose a more calm color instead of that pink in some active elements.

Well it's not my cup of java but I'm really glad other people are interested in making skins.
Did you use the Skinning Guide to get started?

Well done, nice skin :)

I'm with VX, the pink is a little strong for me, but very good work

Nice skin. It shows up nicely on my older work computer whereas some of the other dark skins are too dark. The pink is ok with me. I  will definitely put this skin in my rotation. Good work.

Thank all for commenting and trying out

I removed this crazy focusing pink and updated the download link

@Rotem K.
Yes, the Skinning Guide is a good thing and it makes me looking into the xml-files.

I want to ask for png sizes especially for left/right/buttom border - i did not find out
then i will be able to improve the skin from time to time

(sorry for poor english)

Thank you very much  :) I like the changes, but I'll keep the first version with the pink too  :) I just got used to it so much  ;)

I noticed one minor issue with the new skin. When MB is in Mini Player view docked to the top of the screen it's hard to see the progress bar. Maybe try with a mid-light shade of blue instead of the pink?

For the borders:
Top.png will be 28x1 [pixels].
TopLeft and TopRight will be 28x5.
Left and Right needs to be 1x4.
BottomRight and BottomLeft are 4x4.
and Bottom is 4x1.

If you need the border files themselfs pm me.

I think the thing that bothers me most, is that the scroll bars colors seems to be backward, the bright side is to the right and the dark side is to the left, meaning the light is coming from the right. contrary to the way it's done in Windows and in Mac where scroll bar light is from the left.

@VX small change

@Rottem K.
Thank you for image specifications

Thank you for analysing
You are right. It was not my intention to make a commercial skin - but a individual.
Optical side-effects are intended in this skin. Maybe i took the idea from AeroFox XL theme.
But i will take your advise for future.
I know a skin can not fit for everybody but there was no intention to bother your eyes

OrB,
the last one skin is almost perfect for me, thanks a lot  :)

If I were You, I'd increase the contrast between the rating stars in Player Controls Bottom Pane.
No matter the suggested change the skin is one of the best currently available dark themes for MB.

Great work !

As long as it's a conscious decision I can appreciate it.
Thanks for the effort dude.

Truly a nice skin OrB.  Thanks for your effort in putting it together.  And while I was getting used to the "hot pink" I like the recent change that got rid of the pink in exchange for the blue. Nice touch.

Small problem - there doesn't appear to be the X in the search box that allows one to get rid of the search term.  I should say that it's there, because the cursor changes when I hover over where it should be.  I just can't see it.  If you could make it visible, this would be the perfect skin.

Thanks.

@phred
yes - in the moment this is really a bug. I think i can not address this black 'X' with an other color.
thank you

OrB, i've fixed the close button on the search box for the next update. If you do find something wrong or need a new element just ask me (or rotem or blinghound as they might know an existing solution)
I have sent you a PM with 2 images i think will suit better (the download indicator and the in progress indicator on the taskbar eg. convert a file and you will see it) - the ones you have now arent matched to the colour scheme.
Also if you enable album ratings on the artwork layout  (right click on the header bar of the artwork panel/ Configure Layout/ choose Album Rating as field) you will see its always showing 5 stars.
The relevant element is:
<!-- 64-->  <element id="Panel.StarRating.Default" fg="240,240,240" fg2="160,160,160" />
where fg2 is the lowlight colour
i dont think Panel.StarRating.Highlight and Panel.StarRating.Lowlight are used any more

Very Nice skin...kinda reminds me of a Media Monkey skin (in Color ) This is now my default skin. I know nothing of xml files and all that but seeing this skin makes me wanna take a peak at the "how to Skin" section. I like dark skins ...there are never enough of them and never enough variation...perhaps I could fix that....Can someone please point me to the How to skin page?
Thank you for a wonderful looking skin ***** five stars

OrB, THANK YOU VERY MUCH  :)

The rating stars look great for me.

I've one question though. Maybe Steven, Rotem K., or Blinghound could explain as it seems is not the matter of your skin but almost all ones.
When a website is used in an internal browser and one tries to edit the address bar it changes the colour to grey no matter the skin.

Is it possible to change the active address bar colour as grey doesn't always fit the skin  ???

There isn't an element right now that can change it, so that's why all skins has the same active color.

I think Steven said the active address bar colour defaults to the windows setting, and it isn't known yet how it can be changed.

I think Steven said the active address bar colour defaults to the windows setting, and it isn't known yet how it can be changed.
I think that was the color of selected-editable text in open text boxs.

but i did find this:
I don't know any way to color the address bar when highlighted, and frankly I think that right now there isn't one.
do you mean when you edit the text in the address bar? If so there is an element but i need to look at the code

Steven did you get a chance look it?

Hallo Steven,
Thank you for interrest, checking and improvement to make this skin usable.

  .. (request canceled)

Thank you for MusicBee

@jimmanningjr
I'm very happy to hear about new skins from beginners
There is a walkable way to build one and don't forget to publish.

Note: You will need 'Base64.exe'(search on forum) to convert png-images to strings.

@VX
Thank you for improvement ideas and trying out all versions of this experimental skin

@Thanks to Rotem K, Blinghound and others for their work to create a skinning-base for interrested people

i am wrong about that, its used in the track detail panel when the row is selected, you might want to change the star colours

OrB, while skimming recent posts on the forum I noticed the suggestion to change the splash screen for Midnight Skin.

I had splash screens disabled in the preferences so I didn't know how it looks. After enabling the option I fully support the change suggestion. This naked guy at the splash screen doesn't really fit Your awesome skin.

VX, i agree - thanks to indicate this point
i have spend no time in my splashscreens.
this new one is my first work with Incscape. What you think?

The link was removed. I'll check it later.

UPDATE:

Great work, OrB ! The new splash screen is original and perfectly fits the Skin. Thank you :)

It seems a little smaller than other splash screens though. It's not a problem for me, but maybe others would prefer slightly bigger one ???

I hope Steven will include your superb skin in the next major update of MB and make sure to update the About/ Credits info.

Hello,
I am a long time user of the Midnight Blue skin. I love it.
There is, however, one annoying detail:
the command buttons in the top panel are hardly readable, because there is very little difference between the dark grey background and the black font color.
It cannot be adjusted - at least: I do not know how.
Can you please enhance the contrast (with white font?) or suggest any other solution?

Thanks,
Wim
