Title: Artist name wrong in the library
Post by: stardepp on November 04, 2017, 05:43:21 PM
As you can see on the screenshot, Lexy & K. Paul is being misinformed in the artist library. Therefore, the artist library and how often the artist was played are not displayed.
How can you fix this error? At Last.FM the band is written like this: "Lexy & K. Paul"

not sure why you think this is a bug or what you think musicbee is supposed to do

This happens with every artist, which is written with "&", it is falsely replaced by "and". Another example: "Scala & Kolacny Brothers" is the correct spelling, but is displayed in the library "Scala and Kolacny Brothers".

This will be from your file tags, not MusicBee.  If you're tagging with MusicBee, it's still coming from the tag source, not MusicBee.  Try a different source.  Or do a search and replace to fix it.

I already did that. "Lexy & K. Paul" and "Scala & Kolacny Brothers" are the right spellings of these bands, according to Last.Fm, Wikipedia and Musicbrainz.
So I tagged those bands right.

Where are they displayed wrong? Is your screenshot showing main player bar track text?

That must be hardcoded. BTW this has nothing to do with functionality, just you think & should be used, correct?

Sorry, I do not understand your question.

I'm not using last.fm. Does this affect its scrobbling feature or just a simple display bug?

But, the songs of Lexy & K. Paul are properly scrawled to Last.Fm.

how often the artist was played are not displayed.

But it can't retrieve artist play count from last.fm because of that?

I do not know what function of Musicbee controls how often an artist has been played.

That doesn't affect MB's functionality for that (File> Library> Show Library Statistics> Most Played Artist).
But I have no idea about last.fm.

Is there no way to fix the error with the "ß"? I have some artists with "ß". That will also bother other users of MusicBee?

There is definitely no tagging error, I have more than a dozen artists with a "ß" in their name, have all checked at Last.fm, they are spelled correctly. So the error can only be with MusicBee. I've already completely reinstalled MusicBee, which unfortunately did not help either.

It is really very disappointing that no one here can solve the problem, with the problem of the artists who have a "ß" in the name. There are some artists with a "ß" in their name. Musicbee officially supports Last.Fm, so why does Musicbee show "Wolf and Cub", for example, even though the band's name is "Wolf & Cub" and Last.fm tags it like that. Instead of releasing a Windows 10 app from Musicbee, you should first solve such problems.

I updated MusicBee to version 3.2.6552 and looked at what's new in this release. It struck me that correctly written in the Music Explorer Lexy & K. Paul, and also how often Lexy & K. Paul was played.

In contrast, in the current play bar Lexy & K. Paul is still misspelled (Lexy and K. Paul) and the number of plays is also not displayed. See screenshots.

If the music explorer Lexy & K. Paul displayed correctly, why can not the current playbar be?

Is it possible to adjust?

I think I see what your problem is, look at the image below. As you can see, in my library "8Ball & MJG" is replaced with "8Ball and MJG" and as a result has zero plays. The "and" version of their name is not anywhere in my tags. So it's not MusicBee's fault, it's the fault of wherever the artist biography is being pulled from. I'm not sure where that is though.
