Title: Music files on network
Post by: DLiu on June 21, 2017, 09:18:31 AM
My music files are kept in my Windows 10 desktop's My Document folder. I am trying to stream them to my laptop. I installed MusicBee 3.1 and MediaMonkey 4.1 to my laptop. Both are portable installation.

On MediaMonkey, I navigated to: My Computer\Network\Microsoft Windows Network\Workgroup\HP-DIKFLIU (that's my desktop computer where my music files are kept)\Users. MediaMonkey can scan this folder.

On MusicBee, I tried to scan the files to the library using these two methods:

1. Edit\Preferences\Library

2. File\Scan folders for new files

Using either methods, I cannot get MusicBee to find the files for scanning. Any idea on what to do next?

Thanks.

You need to be able to access that folder from Computer node in left navigator.
If that's not available from computer node, try right clicking on computer node> Manage Folders> Add Network Share.

When I do that, it shows DIKFLIU-HP/users and its various subfolders. But, DIKFLIU, which is my folder, is not listed. It's the same with MediaMonkey. But, for some reason, MediaMonkey found the files after I scanned for DIKFLIU-HP/users.

Can you access that folder from your laptop with Windows Explorer?

From the forum's home page, how can I post a new message? I can't find that option anywhere on the page.
