ok i have a box set Time Life-AM Gold 1962-1979

album name = Time-Life AM Gold 1962
album name = Time-Life AM Gold 1963
and so on
there are a lot of extra disk like
Time Life-AM Gold-Early 70's Classics
Time Life-AM Gold-#1 Hits Of The 70s
if i make a filter
album start with Time-Life AM Gold
music bee finds all the albums that start with Time-Life AM Gold ... (cool)
but how to get Musicbee to show Time Life-AM Gold 1962-1979 first
then all the extra disks

I just cant work it out
thank you all for your help

Are you running the 3.1 beta? I would just assign a sort album value to the ones that aren't behaving as you'd like

yes always on latest beta ... assign a sort album value? how to do that ? within filter ? will have a look in morning .... by then the magic internet folk may have an answer

Select the album, open the tag editor, go to the Sorting tab and enter a value in the Sort Album field that will make it sort where you want relative to the other albums. It doesn't really have anything to do with the filter or custom views; it will solve the problem in all views and filters.

i just found it in the tag editor but not sure what to put where .. i was coming back to ask if i was in the right place when i seem your post

Keep the "Time-Life AM Gold" part at the beginning. Then play around with the rest of it, for the ones that don't just have the year. MusicBee sorts numbers before letters. Special characters generally sort at the top, before numbers or letters, but there are some exceptions.

cool that worked in the end ... you need to reload the filter to see changers what i did was jsut add the year to the ones that did not have one so
Time Life-AM Gold-Early 70's Classics
became
album sort as Time Life-AM 1980 and so on
magic stuff i will go back to bed now
update ...
album sort as Time Life-AM z1
album sort as Time Life-AM z2
album sort as Time Life-AM z3
was also good for the ones without a year
